20220225 - Connection Issues (UK)

I am using a VPN and I still disconnect at the moment.

The last 2 DC’s were at 7.56 pm and 9.24pm. If you are getting other DC’s that could just be the VPN itself?

I’ve had about 80 DCs in the last few days and they have all been in space and none in dock.

I just logged in for the first time today and got an instant DC as soon as I clicked my player icon to get into the game.
I can’t play.

It sounds like you may have another issue as well then. As far as I know there haven’t been anything like that number of the mass disconnects that Virgin Media customers are getting in the past few days.
You are on Virgin Media I take it?
There was a DC at 11.54 pm so sounds like you managed to log in just in time for that one.
I guess it’s also possible the issue is hitting some people more often than others, although not sure why that would be.

UK has been battered pretty badly the last couple of weeks with the storms. It could be related to that maybe. I dunno, I’m not a tech expert but I do know that down south there were major outages of services for pretty much everything.

I’m still suffering from this, random disconnects i also am on Virgin Media.

Virgin media are impossible to deal with, you call up and some guy tells you reboot your hub, tries blaming eve and then wants to send an engineer out to come and reboot the hub for me, submitting a formal complaint has resulted in getting a reply thats told me to call tech support so I can have an engineer come out and reboot my hub for me and Lisa the mod on the virgin forums seems to only work part time.

I find it absolutely crazy how the staff in their tech support department know so little about their own organisational structure

I’m beginning to think a formal complaint to some investigative or supervisory organisation will get Virgin to sort their s**t out

From what CCP Explorer said it sounds like Virgin Media have investigated and haven’t found any problems.
Look at it from their point of view… you can connect to everything else fine apart from 1 game. I am not all that surprised they feel the problem isn’t with them, and it still may not be.
Maybe the ticket CCP have raised with Cloudflare will bring something to light. Personally even if the issue is with Cloudflare I would still consider that Virgin Medias responsibility to find a resolution for though.

You might be not wrong. But the fact that connection from UK to London. goes thru Amsterdam and back to London is very sketchy by itself.

It is definitely strange. That may have been the case for quite some time though.
I wish we knew if that is something that has been changed recently or not… could have been that way for years.

My contracts up with VM at the end of March, this has made things a whole lot simpler!

It seems some other sites which use CloudFlare are also being routed through Amsterdam, for whatever reason.
An example is below. I rent a dedicated server in Manchester less than 30 miles from where I live. If I perform a traceroute on the domain we use for that server, via Cloudflare I get the following

A bit more testing. I tried a traceroute to another dedicated server in the same datacentre as above. This time the DNS is managed by Cloudflare but for this testing domain I turned Proxy to off. I got a more direct route to the server without going to Amsterdam. I’ve truncated the bottom as it just pinged around UKFast servers for a while before reaching our server.

Same here, and two other Corp Members, all on VM.

Disconnected 4 times in a row :frowning:

game is virtually unplayable. im trying to get 5 rat kills for the daily skill spree and i had 6 discconects so far

What i do not get, is based in the UK why we are being routed to amsterdam rather than staying in the UK. Surly cloudfare need to get involed now? Has anyone spoken to them as its that service that seems to be the route cause… excuse the pun.
