2023/05/11 - Ongoing - Intermittent chat issues

I see my 2 of my corpmates in almost every system I jump to and they’ve been logged off since yesterday evening lol

Just wasted a mobile observatory, trying to uncover the cloaky character who turned out to simultaneously be in 3 systems at once. This is after losing a ship last week to a chap who wasn’t in local, but was docked.

Getting really annoyed tbh. This is massively affecting my playstyle. Please provide a frank and honest update.

And another thing I noticed is that 1) sometimes channel updates come through in bursts, giving data from previous systems I’ve been in (easy to spot when you visit a trade hub) and 2) last night after one such data “burst” the names of all my user channels disappeared, only showing the number of people in those channels. 3) the user defined channels stay rather more than less intact. 4) you can’t rightclick any name in Local if there is an issue with that channel at that moment.

It appears as if the “thing” that collects the data for local and redistributes to the clients is either not receiving or not sending (“on time”) - which should be the first question to answer. Whether that is a coding or a hardware problem, my bet would be on a piece of hardware - reminds me too much of the old radio tubes and old capacitors :smiley:

Issue still persist. Seeing like 40+ people in systems where usually there are 3-4 people tops very rare occasion to be more and usually 0-3 people.

However some of the names I recognize so I come to the assumption they visited earlier and still appear in local despite I’ve only signed in many hours later.

This is ongoing and getting worse (more and more names appear stuck) since days.

Don’t really care personally as I barely spend time on EVE nowadays anyway due to lack of time but thought I drop in and share my experience as well just so there is yet another witness who provides evidence of this just so you can’t claim the issue is resolved and it only affects a minority of players. :stuck_out_tongue:

it’s totally different… A titan died a few days ago, because he lit a bridge after a fight ended and the lag stopped. The bridge didn’t close. it would have remained open until downtime, so he was stuck. When lag gets really bad during big battles, we see some people who end up permanently aggressed, unable to jump or even log off until downtime, or until intervention thru emergency tickets… We see outstanding calls constantly time out and drop off and those who don’t know how to game the system thru ctrlaltshiftM end up not being able to even shoot as their guns end up cycling forever. I don’t remember these things occurring in the past. I won’t get too far into the ghost / duplicated ships but those are seen in most big fights now. I always see those empty unfitted kills get linked :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t remember this kind of stuff occurring in the past. UALX crashed, but we didn’t see any of this. Same with B-R, Asakai, etc. They changed the entire system and these are side effects of trying to frankenstein it to not fail as much as possible, when it probably should. This results in less confidence for sure as these kinds of things aren’t fun to deal with… It does seem to me that we took a step to keep it online but a few steps back with side effects.

Then we have this complete break down. This is the most expensive sub based game out there. C’mon. Did we downgrade?

Just asked some friends to turn this on. It resolved one bug for him. In the past people wasn’t leaving his local list as he moved systems that seems to be better for the first time in three days, but it’s also been five minutes so not conclusive.

Those types of issues have happened for years :wink: - and is likely due to TQ biting the dust. Hell before AWS chat I remember dying in a fight that hit the servers so hard, to this day I never got a loss mail for my Damnation…

But where TQ is on fixed hardware owned and maintained by CCP (unless something has changed since I last looked), the chat servers are on AWS which is a very different hosting setup.

CCP it makes it a tad more hard work coordinating Cap Chain for fleet if half the members do not appear in the channel. :face_exhaling:

Time now 12:00 EvE Time - still toons not appearing in Logi Chain Channel - that is over 1 hour

I’ve not been able to actively play for 3 days due to the chat issues. Do we get a refund or rembusment of omega time?

Great day 4 of the new blackout…now my second moon pop that i’m not gonna be able to mine as my primary defense is being able to see who the hell is in local. Thanks CCP

Oh come on. Just mine your moon goo. If you let the slightest little challenge stop you from playing then what good are you? HTFU and undock, coward. Odds are that you will be just fine.
