380 MB write on my disk When i open the game . Every time

pretty much what i’ve posted with this thread title , the launcher is up all the time i don’t usually close it unless i restart the pc, but every time i launch the game about 380MB is written on my disk , every time . If i close the client and relaunch it 1 min later or 4 h later the same thing around 380-390 mb is written every time . so if i close and relaunch the client several times a day , something that i used to do the Gb start pilling up. I don’t understand why is doing that .

The Launcher has updates it has to push as well..

the question is , why is it writing 397mb on disk every time i launch the game ?

let me repeat that the same amount of mb is written on disk every time i launch the game , if i close it and relaunch the same amount is written again , and again, every time i close and relaunch the game. i don’t think is downloading any files but for some reason is overwriting on the cache the same file over and over

yea the launcher does that, when it updates or caches… do you have the full client downloaded? If not you’ll see that happen more often.

We are only players here and usually don’t have knowledge about how the game or the launcher is programmed. From observation i guess it is just repreparing the current basic launcher and/or client structure again before a client is launched in case it is broken or something.

If you need a deeper response, only CCP could answer that if they wanted to.

and i was hoping that some dev will read it and respond.

yea likely not gonna happen.. there’s a better chance of a narwhale turning into an actual unicorn than a dev answering this.

i’ll ask again since you didn’t answer

do you have the full client downloaded??

Just wondering why would he want to have ‘Download Full Eve Game Client’ activated?

I had that setting activated and it was taking forever to download the game patch… After de-selecting that option, the Launcher quickly downloads CCP’s little daily game patches which allows quick log-in to the game…

It depends what your expectation is. If you have downloaded everything in advance, then it needs to be done if the info is needed in the specific game situation. This can lead to all kinds of effects, like lag, freezings and not seeing stuff…something you wouldn’t want to experience in a situation where your belongings and your pod is at stake…which you also never know in advance when that happens…

The whole EVE client data is about 50GB. So better download and patch it in advance if you consider to play it beyond the starter system.

Well, I haven’t had any issues with lag or freezing… As for seeing new stuff added to the game, I always see them after the game patch updates happen…

All accounts already have the ‘Full Eve Game Client’ downloaded when they first enter the game, there’s really no reason to have that option selected unless the game files on the computer become corrupted for some reason…

If anything, I would suggest going into the Launcher settings, Eve Online tab, and select ‘Check for game update’, then select ‘Verify game files’, then select ‘Remove unused files’…

Usually I just select ‘Verify game files’ and ‘Remove unused files’ after a game patch has been installed, haven’t had any issues so far…

Also every once in a while just to be safe I’ll select ‘Clear all cache files’ in Esc menu…

It seems there is a misunderstanding in some aspects. I understood now that you enabled it once for downloading everything and then disabled it since then.

If that is the case then of course you are not experiencing the constant buffering that someone experiences that never downloaded everything and which was the use case discussed above.

Also i don’t know if it makes any difference to deactivate the option after you had it executed once. I suppose the patches are the same for everyone and not determined in scope relative to what you have on your machine or not. I suppose the new stuff just gets dumped onto the machine in the same way for everyone. If that is correct, there should be no difference in keeping download everything activated or not after you already executed it once.

But i could be wrong. So you get only those daily 200-300mb and never bigger downloads during the year if CCP releases stuff and expansions? It only starts buffering again if needed?

I mostly get little MiB updates, though every once in a while I’ll get some big GiB updates..

Over the years there’s been multiple threads about this subject… In Jan of this year, somebody made a statement which made me look up the research I did in 2024 on Launcher activity…
