Just downloaded the client, looks ok, only about 57 MB or so. Buuuuuut theeen, surprise: 2nd update 64868 files (!?) having 9.54 GB! Wow, since when??!! Last week it was about 954 MB, now it’s almost 10GB?? Why CCP?

that was the bare minimum. Eve installed an internal OS to be sure you don’t have a bot integrating, also it mines bitcoins.

The game client downloads game assets as required.
I’ve got over 17 GB due to the extra ships and structures I encounter.
Have you proof of that ?

indeed, people said that the reason why Eve requires more GPU is because CCP changed from “making fun games” to “making bitcoin games”.
I guess it was a joke.

Fair enough, my apologies for not seeing it at the time.
To clarify on what’s been said: in the Eve launcher, Settings, by default the “Download Everything” box is not checked. Thus if you’ve never encountered a game asset, it probably hasn’t been downloaded yet. (Unless you tick this box.) I have 15.8GB of assets after ticking this box and unchecking the test servers.
Becuase AFK client bitcoin mining is the future you filthy luddites.
