Oh, man… things are worse than i thought, EVE has been in a death cycle since 2008…
So like, is this how you graciously acknowledges the fact that the thing you said about PLEX demonstrates that you don’t know the first thing about which you speak?
Just acknowledge that the PLEX comment was pretty ignorant. We’ll forgive you, it’s not the biggest deal…
Welcome to the game!
It’s other name is ‘pay to get blown up in a slightly bigger ship’.
I’m by no means an EVE veteran and I play very on and off, but I was around in 2012 and carebears whining about the game not catering to their entitlement and desire to play a multiplayer game as single player was always a thing.
Incidentally, old people complaining about younger generations being more spoiled, lazy, entitled, disrespectful etc. than them has also always been a thing.
@Galaxy_Pig Thank you.
Yes. Of course I prefer the strategy aspect games. In PvP games such as Apex Legends, I need better reflexes and manual dexterity, that never improves with age. The only reflex one needs here is how fast to decide fight or flee. As I said in my first post of this thread, it reminds me of an old game I enjoyed back in the 80’s. Personally I stand a much better chance at chess than I do at skeet shooting.
Be respectful to your superiors, if you have any. ~~ Mark Twain
Enjoy the game.

only loser kill miner
No, plenty of losers mine too.
I’m pretty sure the one who lost in this altercation was the miner. Not the ganker.
They both lost a ship, technically.
The problem EVE has had over the long-term is that it wasn’t in fact core-PvP in design, but was advertised as such.
This is typically because most MMO’s are a fundamentally PvE design, then the devs try to shoehorn in PvP somehow to broaden the game’s appeal. And the two never mesh at all because different design requirements.
Both EVE’s success and a fair amount of it’s failure do stem from the fact that CCP designed the game with the notion of “PvE will be the major activity of the game, and the PvE is designed to provide opportunities for PvPers to prey on it”.
This stems from the original designers experience with Ultima Online. So the clever part was designing the PvE and PvP to interact with each other. The original design team had some good ideas but they largely departed from CCP within 6 years of startup.
Until CCP decides to invest in some quality talent to move the game forward, or develops a more workable version of balancing the PvE/PvP designs, we’re going to end up with a “neither fish nor fowl” design that apparently satisfies few but manages to hang on to at least some players.
Good post. I’ve been around since 2006 and I’ve noticed that gankers whining that their “hardcore PvP” game doesn’t send them a steady stream of easy player kills in high-sec was also always a thing.
So totally weird that people playing a game want the game to cater to their preferred playstyle, huh? It’s almost like something you’d take into account when designing the thing…
I don’t think it’s possible for it to be any other way. You can’t really have an MMO that has no PvE or PvE-like mechanics. If you do it’s just a deathmatch game with a high player cap. PvP in an MMO will always be something built on top of whatever fundamental PvE-like activity is used to build the world.
Whaaaat!? No!
It’s all subjective. I identify that the miner lost.
I don’t think they call it “hardcore PvP”
I think the statement used by SAFTEY. Is “Elite PvP”
Two very different things.
I usually shy away from discussions such as this but here we go.
i really like the pve parts of the game, mining, missions, combat sites, exploring etc. I am starting to get into pvp and really enjoy that. The feeling i get learning how to d scan the right way and getting better at it. Flying along with the really good pvp guys in my corp and watching and learning, and in the bad times, getting blown up with them too lol.
When mining constantly being on the lookout for threats. When running sites checking systems before jumping in. Maybe have a couple pvp fit ships in system for cover.
Doing pve stuff solo isn’t that hard to stay safe with just a little effort, and there lies the problem, effort to stay safe. And then in comes the argument, “i shouldn’t be forced to play a way i don’t want”.
Then you have the pvp only players that feel anything else is “carebear”, that’s fine too, there are two sides to EVERY coin.
With these simple things in mind, the hunters have a free right to hunt, the miners have a free right to mine, so on and so forth. The thrill of the hunt and success of the harvest are second to none. Escaping alive with your ship and cargo and Ore is just as thrilling.
This game was designed with all this in mind or the possibilities would not exist at all, right? right.
Every time you undock you are not playing pvp, you are surviving in an alternate universe created by us, hunter and hunted, industrialist and supplier, civillian and soldier.
Anyone who plays this game for longer than 1 hour will understand that no matter what you do there will always be risk involved. If you don’t like it and are more of a Minecraft or Borderlands type player, don’t expect an apology from CCP, aint happenin.
Both sides of the coin whine and complain, piss and moan, blah blah blah, most of us become deaf to it after awhile as it is nothing more than childish banter at best.
This is an amazing game with many niche’s that all work together that i really enjoy, got blown up just last night but i’m not whining about the fact i got blapped. I got wiped in a mining ship and didn’t complain about it.
If you decide to leave, please leave your stuff in the “new player help hanger” in the Fortizar so we can pick through it,
And thank you for coming in today…
Back to my popcorn.
This guy gets it.
With my crappy old PC such things were decided for me by the lag. My new gaming PC pretty much responds at the same speed I am thinking…which helps ! I get practically no lag at all now, even with 1666 people in Jita. Eve is glorious with all the settings at max.
There is a top, an end-game in eve online?
