Fixed an issue where there was no ambient sound in some stations.
Patch Notes for 2025-07-08.1
Defect Fixes:
Localization:
Fixed missing localization for error messages in the global PLEX market.
Did we really need 30 minute downtime for some market changes? I get the importance of downtime and updates but I don’t see why it should take this long just because some localization errors. And if it really needed to take that long, at least give us notice.
30 minute downtime unbearably long? I am sorry that i can’t add something productive, but had to laugh when i read this…and what exactly do you know about CCPs codebase and databases that you can make such a claim?
Oh i remember those too, expansion releases were a roll of the dice, and this was before skill queues existed so everyone always set a really long skill for when those happened lol
Having to set alarms to remember to change skills, the old days
You, as always, don’t get it. No one has an issue with long downtimes if you can reliably expect them and count on them to take place. I enjoyed 30 minutes of reliable downtime a lot more than the todays’ 5 or 10 or 1 or 30 minutes because I could reliably eat something and do something else. We also ALWAYS got a notification AHEAD of the long downtimes for patch or expansion releases. Nowadays? You are lucky if you even get a patch notes on the same day, and the daily patches are completely undocumented blackbox downloads.
These random, unannounced and unpredictably long downtimes are an entirely different thing. Especially in combination with daily patches (4 today) that don’t trigger on their own and, like today, only started to download 20 minutes after DT started.
No i grasp it, its just that most people don’t actually care and already plan to spend more than 5 minutes away from their PC during downtime, you might want to try it
I don’t see anyone else whining about it, wonder why that is
But I’m sure even when they had long DTs they (probably) told you ahead of time right?
Oh they said it would be long but it rarely ended on time
And as far as i know, there was never anything that always stated that downtime would be x long, they usually let you know if its something planned, but this probably just took longer and was done by the time they would have got hold of the person who sends out the notifications, i never plan based on the downtime being anything less than 30 minutes, its nice when its less but i always assume its going to take longer from time to time so i temper my expectations
After 21 years you get used to CCP time, and CCP_Round() -.-
I actually miss the Devs announcement of a major patch. Everyone gearing up for what could be two days of downtime. The feeling of community while busting the Devs butts! While pissed at the time, to me, it brought the Devs and the player base closer together. It was still a work in progress, and everyone tried to have fun with it buy the time it was over. Almost like a cult following…
New players will never understand the thrill of playing back then, the unexpected challenges of the chill that runs up your spine when playing.
And that’s why, while EVE will live on, its dead in spirit.
Of course, that was 20some years ago, it’s been a while… almost as old as I am.
I don’t get chills, sir, not even in horror movies, but I do get alarmed once in a while and the warning sounds sometimes startle me to death and some of those rats in 0.4 and 0.3 are tough to kill.
