That’s not how this works. PLEX prices in game are dependant on how much isk people are willing to pay for it, and how much people are willing to pay real money to avoid the isk farm, but it’s always bought from CCP originally. In the end it’s all about your relative cash flow - it will never be possible for every account in eve online to PLEX itself, and only your relative in game “wealth” determines whether you are on the side that can afford it or not. Also note there’s probably a lot of players who can afford it yet don’t, because they’re willing and able to pay real money instead.
But mining as an activity is far more likely to let you PLEX than PVP as an activity. This dude just blew his brains out on scordite dust or something.
Were that true, I wouldn’t be having this debate with you. But I am. So clearly, it is debatable.
Uh-huh. Sure it will. When nobody’s looking, they’ll go back in and edit the spreadsheet without a post.
It’s actually not. It’s very much in their interest for players to be able to PLEX their accounts just by playing, because all of the PLEX on the market… pays the bills at CCP. Every PLEX is paid for with real-world money. If people don’t have a reason to spend ISK on PLEX, then people stop having as much reason to spend $$ on PLEX in order to get ISK. The alternative is that all of those accounts that would be PLEXed, instead stay as alphas, and people train up multiple alpha accounts to specialize in different T1 hulls. Which gets CCP $0.
Basically, CCP wants whales—players who have RL money but limited play-time in which to make ISK—to be able to subsidize the accounts of players with little RL money but a lot more time. They want that because the more people there are in space on Omega accounts—even if someone else is paying for that account to stay in Omega—the more people there are to shoot, and the more reason the paying customers (individual account-owners and whales alike) have to keep playing, and keep paying.
Well good thing i dint restart my Industry already again - Looking at the changes comming that supposed to make it more Easy for new bros, Sounds more you make it even more Complicated since you need now even more Research for T1 Batteships… ?
While before you just needed Material and one Blueprint, its now what 10+ Blueprints for just T1?
The Big Players wont realy mind, but for the Small/Medium Industialist that “Update” is a bit kick in to the Nuts.
But lets keep calm and see how it plays out, if it backfires badly they still can change it back again
I think changes to the T1 Frigates like the Probe are not the best for the game. I understand that the goal is, to lower complexity for a new pilot or an individual miner to produce them, but interacting with the market is something people should learn.
So you take away some complexity and shift it into another place which does not solve the initial goal. If you want to make it easier, add some tutorial on how to buy stuff from the market or whatever
To help industry, you should not try to balance some blueprints (tho I like the changes to bigger ships) but actually make industry more interesting for new players.
Right now somebody can produce 1000 T1 Frigates and flood the market and no newbro will be able to compete with that person. There should be startup programs like in real life for young industrialist or something like that so they actually can outcompete the big guys in a specialized field.
With this change the value of T1 Frigates will even drop lower, because all it takes are 90% Highsec AFK mining minerals. No interaction with the market, not even with the game required…
You realize that this change will consolidate high end production in just fewer hands? There are structural reasons why production is done by individuals and not as a group activity. No complexity increase will change that.
My two cents, this is WHACK. My corp is pretty small and has been having a go at producing ships for our members.
It’s already an obnoxious, tedious process and is nigh impossible without a bunch of different groups running a bunch of different content in different space. This spreads out our organization and makes self sufficiency incredibly difficult… creating MORE burdens and obstacles to industry will only ensure the bigger organizations continue to maintain a chokehold on ship production, as they can spare the numbers to keep up with the ramping demands.
The proposed changes basically ensure we will have to drop our industrial ambitions. Coupled with mineral scarcity, and the quantum core update, this seems yet another step in consolidating the power of large groups, and crushing out the ability of smaller organizations to meaningfully participate in production.
What part of this doesn’t look completely multi-box friendly? The mining already is. Gas harvesting already is. PI? More or less demands it. Reactions? Same.
God, yer funny.
Likely, but then isn’t the real problem not ‘that they’re ewar ships’, but that only one race has a battleship-scale EWAR platform?
Anywhere there’s a Bellicose, it’s the wrong place. Poor thing’s just never the right ship for the job.
I’m surprised at how little of this stuff I understand, but one thing stood out:
“A new intel tool is also coming to New Eden in the next months, one that will offer novel defenses against covert operations in New Eden.”
My distrust of this is unreal, hopefully overblown, and will potentially have a huge impact on one of the few things I like doing anymore after so much has been nerfed…
CCP, don’t screw this up ok?
Seriously.
They don’t, in my experience. I have yet to find a Chemosh, Molok, Caiman, Komodo, or Vehement on contract (I’ve only found the BPC for the Vehement), and the Vendettas I have found on contract were around 150bil for the hull/rigs/fuel which seems to be fair, compared to how much stuff they need to be built and what you have to do to get the BPC for one. Also, I’ve found a couple Vanquisher contracts for 350bil which is only around 3x-5x the price of an Erebus or Ragnarok.
So they will make it a lot harder for younger players to get into manufacturing, and allow the big power blocs of manufacturing to tighten its grip on the market?
Cuz that will surely help the game!
Insane how even their mechanic updates are all geared towards grabbing money from their players, without offering anything new.
“A new intel tool is also coming to New Eden in the next months, one that will offer novel defenses against covert operations in New Eden.”
As if they need even more intel tools… Hopefully they will give something in the process, such as removing local and making them use the “intel tools” instead.
