It’s important to notice, that not all explorers leaves unfinished sites behind.
Everybody knows how a Data/Relic explorer runs. He built a path over systems, constellations, even entire Region. Sometime, no matter it’s Low-Sec or Null-Sec areas, there are fresh sites or there aren’t one. Sometime, I’m scanning unfinished sites from system to system. After a third system, it’s obvious for me, that entire Constellations in this Region will contain a train of unfinished sites. So, there are two options: to do something else until downtime, or to scan all those signatures and close all those sites afterwards. The same is in WH, after scanning over 10 Signatures, - open wormholes can lead to another similar WH with unfinished Signatures.
But as I stated before, there are real reasons to cherry-pick with a cargo scanner.
I dont waste time (and exposure) on ■■■■ cans.
I complicate the job of explorer hunters.
I slow down competing explorers.
I’m hands down ready to accept data/relic can being unscannable.
I feel dirty doing it, I harm myself and others, but I do it because I can.
This is an interesting issue, since someone that picks up a courier contract, cant check the contents of their own cargo, by themself. They have no idea what they are transporting, unless they use another ship to scan the cargo once its onboard and in space.
I disagree. Space born/anchored containers in HS should incur a suspect timer after scanning, if placed by a player.
NPCs arent normies. They are specific NPC entities dedicated to a specific task.
They scan, specifically to detect contraband, but are a systemic mechanic, not a player entity. They are there to provide a limit on contraband transport by players, especially for drugs.
Fact is though, that if 100 or 1000 thousand players cherry-pick Data/Relic sites via can scanning, that has a severe effect on the respawn rate of the sites, as they stay there till downtime.
From what I remember Hacking sites will stay active for 3 to 4 days. However I keep seeing people posting that Hacking sites with only 1 can hacked will de-spawn at downtime.
Is that an Official CCP fact? If so I’d like to see a link to it.
Afaik, a Data/Relic site with atleast one hacked can (whether successful or exploded) will cause the site to persist till downtime, and then be respawned elsewhere.
Ie:
Virgin sites will persist indefinitely.
Partially completed sites will persist till downtime.
Fully completed site will immediately respawn elsewhere.
The same model applies to DED sites.
Escalations/Expeditions will persist after downtime, to the last pocket that was completed, provided their timer for completion has not expired by then.
I was and I’m quite constructive on my arguments. Sometime it’s ok to respond to absolute ‘blind’ insulting counterarguments vs thread creator and almost all who posts to the thread. Aka, if you like sugar, then I like salt; if you like salt, then I like sugar and so on…
IDK exactly. The Signatures stay in space for a long time. The downtime mystery is unknown. I can confirm that downtime can bug an unfinished mission. There were made many unnoticed changes to the game, like: loot drop chance, loot distribution, burner NPC are more stronger than few years ago, changes to Sleepers Sites were implemented and WH’s rats.
All these actions are marked in a patch notes as : “Improvements to the PVE mechanics and UI”.
Actually, many aspects aren’t working as they were described in old guides…
You are a liar. I can call you a liar, because what you wrote is a lie and there is my posting history to prove it.
You are on good terms with someone new, until you see that this someone - despite actually being a nice person - has interests that differ from your PvE oriented, overly protective “THINK OF THE NEWBEES”/victimesque centric viewpoint. From this point on you go into opposition, as if someone flipped a switch.
That is my experience with you, despite me being normally friendly with you … and because I feel it is necessary to add, so you actually “get” it: No … not this character.
But hey … sure … whatever impotent hate you say, man.
It does not matter in the slightest.
