Ahoy there! I am an old Stain resident who returned to EVE some months ago to find my favourite home in a sorry state. There is no good PVP content here. There’s a certain pecking order among the powers here, and everyone knows to avoid the ones bigger than them. As a result the only regular pvp content any of the natives find is hunting poor newbro relic hunters trying to make their first ISKs. I judge it to be a very sad state of affairs. There used to be a lot of fun PVP content here. Regular roaming fleets, mostly kitchen sink back in the day. They were good times.
While the ISK is still great here, there is still not much PVP fun to be had and in terms of regular PVP content it seems there’s not too much hope to change that any time soon myself as the leader of the Church of Space Piracy, a relatively small but growing newbro-friendly corp. But perhaps with pre-arranged events we can actually bring some fun here right now even if it is just monthly or however often we can afford to sponsor.
To this end I am making this post to gauge the overall level of interest there might be for such an event. The plan is to have it newbro-accessible, limiting it to t1 meta fittings with all gear provided by the Church. Skills will still play a factor but at each stage each combatant will not know his enemy’s exact ship type beforehand so there is a chance for newbros to win the battle of ship matchup at any stage of the tournament. Veterans will obviously have advantages in being able to use more different things, but I feel this will strike the best balance we can reasonably achieve and hopefully it should be a good experience for everyone involved.
For the first tournament of Stain I intend to offer a Nightmare with a mix of faction and deadspace fit worth around 4.5-5 billion ISK meant for slaying sansha officers or blingy PVP. The runner up will get a T2-fit phantasm. There will be no entry fee. The Church will accept donations toward prizes and costs of future events after it is over if anyone participating or watching wants to pitch in for more fun times, but there is no expectation of you doing this. We’re happy to just have you here helping to bring something fun to our region.
If there is enough interest I’ll set a date that will hopefully accommodate everyone at least in North America and Europe on weekends if you’ve got nothing better to do on a Saturday and/or Sunday.
