Yes we are, and proud of that dude, they have provided me with entertainemnt for years. Thank you CCP, we love you, even if some of your updates are less than optimal.
That’s… sad…
Uncritical customers like you are the wet dream of every company.
I guess even impositions like the red dot, nearly everybody is annoyed of,are ok for you.
You don’t seem to realize than in the very quote you highlighted, he was actually a tiny bit critical of CCP…not to split hairs and all but…
even if some of your updates are less than optimal
Oh i saw the tinyness…it’s just that the rest of the post was a way too…let’s call it overjoyed positively…
Uncritical? Ok, i understand you have limited capabilities so i quote that for you:
I’m not a sad killjoy like you, i’m able to appreciate what CCP provides us, even if things could be better, as thing could always be better. You are a very negative person Darlos, it must be sad to always see the glass half empty.
Exasperated sigh. Most do not do not look for rookie pilots. They will almost always attack any targets of opportunity that they come by, and they will sometimes actively hunt profitable targets (i.e. players who have been around long enough to know better). And yes, even killing targets of opportunity takes skill and effort. And if you don’t think that it does, you should become a highsec PvP’er so that you can watch the isk and fame pour in.
When I was a newbro (maybe 6 months old), a buddy of mine fell asleep in a belt. After a while a ganker showed up in system, so I immediately reshipped to a Talos. Was back on grid before he found us. He attacked my buddy’s miasmos and killed it because I was too slow in locking the catalyst. So, I refit a scripted sebo while the ganker was waiting out his 15 minute timer. When the ganker returned, I melted his ass, got my first solo kill, and saved my buddy’s retriever. Sounds like counterplay to me.
On top of that, anti-ganker counterplay includes: (1) making yourself an unsuitable gank target even before you undock, (2) not going afk, (3) giving known gankers bad standings, and keeping one eye on local, (4) having response ships on grid (either in an alt or sitting in an orca fleet hangar), (5) PvE’ing in a low population area (hunters prefer high population areas because of an increased chance of finding suitable targets), (6) paying attention to your intel network if you have one (I was going to suggest Ganker Lookout for those that don’t, but it look liked it died because no one was using it), and so on.
And then, on top of all of that, it is possible to hunt gankers. It requires skill, effort, and a whole lot of patience (and isn’t very profitable), but it can be done. And some people actually do it.
So, it sounds to me like you’d rather complain than figure out the numerous counterplay options. Like I said, the last PvE ship I lost to highsec PvP was October 1st 2015, when I was about 2 weeks old. How do you explain that? Has my knowledge, effort, or skill had nothing to do with that? Have I just been exceedingly lucky?
OMG, and we haven’t even talked about highsec pirates yet. Well, long story short, you can bet your bottom dollar that there are plenty of counterplay options for that as well.
Are you seriously suggesting that you are right because other players are unwilling to create and manage an entire ■■■■■■■ player organization dedicated to a play style that doesn’t interest them just to prove you wrong?
Second, hunting gankers is but one single counterplay option. Even if it was impossible to kill a ganker before he successfully executed his gank, that still wouldn’t make ganking easy or mean that highsec isn’t too safe because there are still other counterplay options. It’s a flawed argument. If killing gankers was the only counterplay option, and it was about as difficult as it is now, then we “MIGHT” have a problem (remember, I was able to kill a ganker as a rather new player). But it’s not, so we don’t.
OMG, it’s like you’re willfully ignorant. Okay. First of all, by stupid stuff I mean: (1) not fitting for slipperiness or fitting an adequate tank, (2) going afk or semi-afk, (3) not setting gankers to bad standings, (4) Not properly setting up your overview to display gankers and war targets, (5) not paying attention to local, (6) not paying attention to intel networks if you’re lucky enough to have one (i.e. Eve university HS campus has one), (7) not scouting ahead (when appropriate), (8) not using the in-game map to check for kills, (9) not checking Eve-Gatecamp check for ganking fleets or pirate gatecamps, (10) using the major trade routes or going to a major market hub while wardecked, (11) not using travel fits, (12) overloading your hauler, (13) Fitting excessive bling, (14) anchoring structures that you can’t defend, (15) not properly fitting structures, (16) sitting still in a venture, (17) PvE’ing while war-decked (more on this in a second), (18) not using scouts while PvE’ing while war decked (i.e. the Eve university incursion community used to tip new players for scouting for them. It provided security for the community, and provided a way for newbros to earn income to pay for their first incursion ship while waiting to train into it), and so on ad naseum.
In other words, if you take your overloaded freighters to Jita while war decked and an active gank fleet in Uedema, you deserve to die. The only question is who gets to profit from your stupidity.
Second, yes, there are some highsec PvP’ers that love punching down. However, for many of them, highsec PvP isn’t about getting being skillful, getting good, fair fights, or anything like that. IT’S ABOUT MAKING MONEY. If players are going to keep doing stupid crap and flying loot pinatas, other players are going to keep trying to profit from their stupidity. Personally, I have no desire to kill newbros because they don’t have very good loot drops. I want the guys who have been playing long enough to know better, because they actually have some assets.
Here, check out John Drees’ 3 part series on the Art Of Poor. It’s entertaining, and will give insight into the mind of a hunter.
And on a side note, I have not done every form of PvP in every area of space yet, but I have done several. And out of the forms of PvP that I have partaken in, the lowest skilled PvP activity that one can engage in (by A WIDE F’ING MARGIN) is nullbloc line member. Some F1 monkeys will sometimes use their brains, but most of the time, most of them are flying unmodified doctrine fits and doing exactly what the FC tells them to do (hell, 10% of them can’t even do that consistently). It’s so easy, Forest mother focking Gump could do it.
Bee tea dubs, how much skill did it take your 11 man gang to kill this Nereus?
First, I support the entire player ecosystem. Second, this is an ad hominem attack. Third, what the hell are you talking about? Are you sure you haven’t confused me with someone else? Fourth, and finally, I think highsec is too safe because you have to do stupid stuff to even give the highsec PvP’ers a chance. Fortunately, there is no shortage of people doing stupid stuff.
Okay. I guess that’s enough. I haven’t run out of things that I disagree with, but this post is already novel length. Hell, I’m surprised I didn’t hit the character limit.
I’ve read every word you’ve written so far. But if you want to agree to disagree, we can do that. However, I want to make something clear. I value the entire player ecosystem, including highsec PvE (in fact, I have done absurd amounts of carebearing in HS). My position is, that highsec has actually been unbalanced in favor of the sheep. So, that’s what we are disagreeing on. You think that it’s balanced in favor of the wolves, and I think it’s balanced in favor of the sheep. Okay, sounds good? Do you understand that that’s what we’re disagreeing about? I feel I need to clarify because you seem to be suggesting that I am arguing that the game be balanced at the expense of certain play styles. I take this to mean that you either do not understand my position, or you do, and are intentionally arguing in bad faith.
And yet you still killed him. Why?
We don’t need to retain new players.
What we actually need is more idiots to uninstall and leave the game entirely.
EVE is not for common plebs.
OMG STOP HARASSING ME OMG LUCAS KELL IS HARASSING ME
Yes you appreciate…that’s the problem…
You appreciate an alms where you could -with your power as subscriber(if you are one)- DEMAND real work and not half baken, irrelevant ‘content’ and gifts that nobody wants nor needs…
As i said, you are the wet dream of every company…uncritical to some kind of a self-abandonment.
The sad part here is that you don’t see it as it is and call a wording like ‘even if some of your updates are less than optimal’ criticism when in reality it’s just a fanboy bowdown to the glorious work of ccp aka ‘absolute bs’ in the last years.
There is NONE,not a single update in the last 3-4 years that was really ‘good’.
And on top of that they fired devs/gms that actually cared for the game and replaced them by cheaper ones which have no clue what to do.
You see the result observing the last 2 years…mindless, brainless ‘balancing content’ that did make things worse instead of better.
All those ‘new guys’ can do really good is creating new skin after skin every week…that’s what they are good for and that’s what they are employed for…
But -i know- saying something like this aka ‘the truth’ is not wanted nor accepted by some people here, all they want is to keep anything as it is…
So i HAVE to be a troll…i MUST be one…no doubt…
And the glass is 90% empty…
I just found what is worse than a blind fanboi…a whiner that has nothing good to say about something but doesn’t leave the game…just wasting their time on something they despise desperate to infect others with their attitude.
If it’s that bad for you then grow-up, take some personal responsibility and leave…
Yeah…the dammed truth your kind does not like to hear…
The teller is the problem not the told…
I am questioning you motive, not the message as that is relative and quite frankly IDK.
Hating something but choosing to stay is self-defeating. I don’t like McDonald’s hamburgers so I don’t eat there. You on the other hand go there everyday, buy lunch and then complains to anyone that will listen why McDonald’s is bad…it’s dysfunctional.
When you’re so bad at the game that you need to make a thread about it …
When you are so salty about the reality that you have to criticize the description of what was experienced first hand.
Darlo my sword. Tell them the truth!
We will no longer stand for these intimidation tactics. They redirect and confuse, by throwing profanity and names. However, the truth is apparent. It can no longer be denied!
I’m fighting this fight for 15 years now,i didn’t care about them in the past and i don’t care now.
It’s not just what i say,i bet we could get an agreement both sides would be pleased with, the real hate came from people who actually understood that i could not be bullied away via their normal tactics that had scared away so many bedore and after me with ideas like mine, that i still stood my ground even after they tried anything they know and that scared them.
It’s actually nice to see that stubborness works out at some point
Yes! Show them the true might of valor!
May your enemies tremble beneath your feet!
You have my full support!
LOL…that’s a special type of stupid.
