Abandoned ships = space junk = we need a solution

At least we have 1 CSM member who visits the forums and interacts with the players.

CSM doesnt have all the answers, nor can they tell us what we wanna know most times if they do, cause of NDA.

And with the spaghetti code, could break the game. Just leave it alone

@Mindahouf_Davaham I didn’t just leave your corporation. I left the game too.
I think I’ll have more fun playing Elite… or Candy Crush Saga, lol, and I’m not at all comfortable playing a game that encourages toxicity and ripoffs.
Sending best wishes to you and your corporation.

oh sad

Oh dear, then we should teach CCP to change absolutely nothing about Eve from that moment on. Because the code is the same on all levels. So from now on, at your request, Eve should not be developed any further and remain at exactly the same level as it is now…

Sorry mate, this argument does not count.

Few years back they wanted to change drone mechanics, well it screwed up other parts not intended so they had to revert the changes

You have a point, of course. However, this could/must first be checked to see how difficult it would be to implement and which other areas might be affected by this change. To be honest, I don’t think it would be that difficult to implement and would not have any major negative impact. Of course, I could be wrong about that.

The horror! Imagine they change something and when testing it on sisi they realize it screws something else up! And they maybe even have to revert it! The end is nigh!

It was dec 2020 and changes to drone aggression went live. Meaning you had to manually tell the drones to attack npcs. Well a bug occured rendering drone assist/guarding inoperable or unavailable. So they had to revert the aggression changes. And again this went live on TQ

On one hand you had GMs saying it was intentional, and on the other hand, devs coming out saying unintended

I see this ā€œspace garbageā€ as a new career in eve. Make a new character or whatever and sell your services to clean up the litter if it bothers ppl.

Yeah I know about that one, (and a part of me really believes it was intentional, as I have read a statement at this time that they wanted to turn drones into a ā€œmanual weapon systemā€ like turrets, which also don’t automatically attack the next enemy). But the shitstorm made them reconsider, thankfully, the change was bad.
However, its simply no reason to not touch old mechanics any more. In software development all changes have to be tested and if they work as intended, fine. If they don’t work or screw something up, you roll back and look where the problem is. The testserver is an excellent tool for that, nobody said they should live-edit TQ code.

This is ccp we are talking about here. Half the time they dont listen to us or CSM and @Mike_Azariah can confirm that since nobody apparently will believe brisc

Can I have your stuff?

I take my role seriously. Thus the exasperation. And this is my last term, so I do intend to quit.

I don’t represent CCP, I represent the players. As for the CSM, I’m one of the longest serving, most accomplished, most awarded members in history. I’ll take my record over your whining any day of the week.

I thought you blocked me.

You have no idea how hard the change is to implement or how many resources its going to take.

How do you determine whether something is abandoned or derelict? How do you figure out what was left there on purpose and what was left there inadvertently?

How does this improve the game when this has been how the game has been for 20 years and this thread is literally the first time I’ve ever seen anybody complain about it?

Sorry, you haven’t sold me on this.

Yes. People who are creative at creating combat probe smokescreen in high sec by ejecting a bunch of shuttle/corvette hulls would be unhappy if any random person came along and destroyed the hulls for free, making it easier for combat probers to find them.

no he quiet eve guess i have to take the torch back

plus a new player could be tricked into leaving there ship only for it to be shot up by the player telling them this

This is one thing. Another is the usual kill rights baiting which is what I thought was the primary reason for folks doing this in the first place. My expectation is that anything left in highsec that looks like it doesn’t belong is usually a trap for the unsuspecting.

Buried in all this angry diatribe between the plebeian and the aristocrat is the solution to the original problem!
