About the Stabber

Out of curiosity I got a few matar skills in ships and guns and wanted to look for some ships to fit - and ran out of fitting space again.

However, most of the tech 1 matar lineup was quite easy to fit, either with artillery or autocannons.
One of the things I noticed was that if you fit matar ships a certain way, they all get cap stable meta mwds with meta and tech 2 modules, so no fancy things required.

The rupture was easy going, either artillery and shields or armor reps and autocannons.

But oh boy, what in the hell is the stabber supposed to do?

I found this as a reference:

But well, I believe CCP can do better, can’t they? Any ideas anyone?

The stabber is a very agile cruiser, but, it lacks powergrid so you cant fit it with arts. It has bonus to falloff so AC are perfect for it. Since it outspeeds most of cruisers its usually fit with a warpdisrupt + MWD to kite.

I love the stabber. I think it’s a great solo ship as long as you pretend it’s a frigate. It has some unique advantages:

-It can potentially go 3kms with mwd
-It can fit two neuts
-Damage is high for a {frigate}
-It projects its damage well
-People underestimate it

Most people fit it with shield but i think this is a mistake because it needs the midslots for a cap booster, web, disruptor and prop. There was a guy about a year ago who flew stabbers a lot on his youtube channel, it was called Friendly Targets. He flew it with shield at first and then started using an armor setup similar to

270 DPS (over 350 with drones) is enough in my opinion. Its similar to a Svipul or a Wolf but with much more range. It’s not the best ship in eve or anything but I like it because not a lot of people use it and it gets underestimated. It’s also really fast!

Interesting! Thanks for the help everyone!!

Just found a video of this guy doing awesome ■■■■ with a stabber. I love the idea of dual prop but I would switch it to ancillary armor rep instead of shield so I can have a cap booster because as you can see in the video he runs into cap issues constantly. It also goes to show how all these battleship bros go crazy when they see a stabber on scan and warp straight into his trap.

Oh coolio! Cheers man!!

Also a pretty good example of the benefits of being “friends” with NPC mining corps for free reps and potentially tackle on the other guy if his rep isn’t good with them.

While I was looking at the vagabond, I thought, man if the stabber would have a similar bonus, that would prepare them to a much easier transition - even though the target price tag is only 10 times too much.

What would you guys think about the stabber with the following changes:

-1 high
+1 turret mount
+1 low
+85 powergrid

Bonuses current:

  • 7.5% rate of fire per level
  • 10% falloff per level

to those bonuses instead:

  • +5% shield boost amount per level
  • 10% falloff per level

That would be like a vagabond light. What do you think?

In the current meta, the bruiser stabber (MWD) is pretty much king in faction warfare.
It eats all frigates and destroyers, even cancerious garmurs.
It doesnt work against most cookie cutter brawling cruisers, but those are rare and far in between.

Do I think its good?.. meh, but its very good in the current everyone runs kiters meta in my humble opinion.

the stabber is fine as it is.

If you want a Vaga light just look at the Stabber Fleet Issue or Scythe Fleet Issue.

About the stabber. It sucks butt.

I like the stabber but instead of losing a high, add more cpu for rapid light lauchers, and slightly more powergrid.

Ok to be fair to the stabber…

It still sucks ass. But of you MUST fly it and if you MUST fit it:

Stabber is the best frigate in the game.

i have never had a stabber last more than an hour.
