That may be true but in most cases you don’t lose your ship and pod when you disconnect in New Eden.
Well it is a bit of surprise to see that the Corp/alliance discussion section cesspool in 2008/2012 has spread now to the entire forum in 2019. Makes a lot of sense why these forums are almost dead compared to back then.
I do agree that the disconnection is quite unfortunate and this does lead me to believe that it is a possibility that it can be a bit on CCP side of the house when it comes to tech. Before I stopped playing in 2012 I was able to multibox (10) with multiple characters with no issues in at least 4 different states/ 3regions. Coming back to the game recently actively and there were some unexplained dc’s that nearly cost me my ship. Running their Net tool I am unsure how I lose packets to their server and not to some of the servers in Australia from the east coast. Good to know I am not the only one exp this issue.
Depending on where you live, it could be a slight possibility that it is the infrastructure in your area just like it is for me. There is a noticeable difference when I was playing online games in west Texas compared to the east coast. I recommend utilizing their net diag program (which is a major improvement compared to 2012) + trace route to verify if the infrastructure may be the cause. I am unsure if this is something they have implemented in the past 5 or so years, but if there is some connection issue I did notice continually that my main account wouldn’t drop and the alt account I launched after would always drop connection.
I would say that multi boxing in mining/missions are still a bit safer then maybe doing these Abyssal sites. If anything, if you are flat out broke and don’t want to plex, I recommend doing missions and grinding if you want to play solo. Joining a good corp in Eve is something that can make your life easier as Eve is not a solo friendly game and the difficulty in my opinion pretty significant if you are not apart of a corp.
I do wish you luck and if I knew for sure I am not going to drop off for a few months I would tell you to send me an Eve mail and I would run some L3/4’s with you to help you get back on your feet. I understand the pain of the loss to things that are actually beyond your control.
Abyssal sites are worth running, they are fun.
What would make them even more fun is if CCP added a manual dog fighting mechanic to the game during fights.
Manually Dog Fighting would separate the real PvPers from the point and turn weapons on and orbit.
