AI and the effect on Economy/Society

Sorry I’m a little confused, how did AI affect your job?

They’re also taking up all the new DDR5-6 CAMM2 Ram chips, raising the prices asburdly, as well as the new NVME & M.2, even the upcoming Samsung 9th gen VNAND SSD. Apparently they already put in orders that takes up 90% of the market before it even came out. Its still in the test phases and a few of the data centers already put out a contract., I think it was Antropic, but rumors in the IT world was even Palantir did

a.i software has been a growing issue in the fitness for years. Will a person rather use an a.i that is vastly cheaper or even free or hire a expert that is more expensive?.

Even when i was a Fitness Instructor, there’s been complaints and worries that it will take over jobs. In the end, majority of trainers exit the PT industry for that very reason, the only few who stays are those with either the money to burn or with a long list of established clients already, add to that the charlatans who aren’t even qualified ripping off clients, using a.,i for cookie cutter plans, making empty promises etc. Yeah the Fitness Industry is a ■■■■ show. A lot of people i know has changed careers. There’s no money in it. Going private is tough trying to source clients on your own especially if you not a sales person or deceitful, if you work for a commercial gym, you absolutely get ripped off by the gym.

Here’s an example, i worked at a rather big gym, You pay $500 pm for your rental, Assuming the FI’s gets you a client via the personal training intropacks being generally $48-50, the gym takes a massive cut, generally being $36-37, leaving the left over for the PT. Besides your Rent, you also have to pay for your Professional Insurance required by most of the commercial gyms, which in general goes up to an additional $200, plus your monthly fee to be registered on the national PT database.

Its just not viable and you run at a loss in the end

In your opinion, do you think an AI can do the job better than a PT?

Have you considered other avenues which generate income such as your fitness video’s on youtube or tiktok? It sound’s like you are qualified and would be able to point out the flaw in using AI for fitness.

No it can’t, it doesn’t understand nuisances, even less tell the difference between glycemic load vs index. But people prefer it due to cost. Especially with the absurd living costs these days.

Currently studying comptia A+ for the IT industry rather.

My opinion on a.i remains the same, a.i only has one use, to be used to give enemies in games an response reaction to the player. other than that, its more akin to a vermin

Have you considered building on this? So, you create your youtube channel and generally perform what you would do with a client at a private PT session. This would immediatly make you affordable all people would need to do is watch and copy what you do. Each video you can go into depth about nuisances and people will listen.

Once your subscriber base comes in you will be able to reach far more people with your info/experience, I say go for it with all your heart buddy especially if you’re passionate about it, you have nothing to lose.

I have been trying, but couldnt get enough views, probably also due to being honest, that i refuse to clickbait`

Well I think you have important info to share and if you did need to clickbait it would be for the purpose of relaying info that others may not find elsewhere.

My job is fixing laptops and computers and I use AI to to run my ideas by. Today’s job was a Dell G15 which had a start-up issue where the customer kept on getting a black screen. I spent a lot of time fiddling with with BIOS settings and updating with no joy. Google AI did suggest a few good ideas to try then I got a memory error.

I tried to set the memory to a lower rate and was then informed by google AI that Dell always lock the memory settings on their laptop’s so there was no way to troubleshoot a lower memory rate. I then decided to take a physical look inside the laptop thinking I should reseat the Memory modules.

I quickly noticed the 2 memory modules were mis-matched and then it clicked, what google AI had told me earlier about the memory settings being locked meant that this laptop would only be compatible with a strict set of memory. I quickly identified the original manufacturer’s memory and removed the other module from the laptop and it booted up straight away with no black screen.

The G15 required the memory to operate at a specific timing and latency, introducing the other module with different timings and latency put stress on the DDR4 memory contoller and made the entire set of memory unstable.

From my perspective AI is a great tool, and I think with some jobs it can enhance productivity, from my perspective in my job it’s like having a cool it buddy who is available 24 hours a day to double check any theory I have regarding a repair job.

Google “Yubal Harari” +“Useless Eaters”. All is planed.

Well, thanks former CCP we have a chance to corrupt deepmind AI with our filthy wishes and at least make all that “useful thinkers”, eaten.

Suno Pro looks pretty good as it goes. A youtube advert has shown me you can mimic your desired beat into a mic and the AI will convert it into an actual beat you can loop, you can also imitate things like shakers, instruments in your exact pattern.

A professional sounding beat can be created in minutes, I actually fancy myself as a House music producer and I have dabbled with fruity loops a little but have not yet commited to a licence. Hmmm I think I should go with Fruity loops as I enjoy constructing each note myself. I’m not able to save my creations on fruity loops without a licence but i wil look and see if they have any AI features to which I am expecting they will have in order to stay relevant.

I found the Suno Pro advert: https://youtu.be/atx19QpBWr0?si=atfx0Qkheh4bnyGx

I’ve logged into my pension portal and have selected to only invest in ethical companies that do not harm the world. So I have locked them off from accessing my pension as the ethical option I have chosen can’t invest in any company that has military contracts.

The return is lower but you know what, I feel better knowing that certain people can no longer access my specific money to help spread negativity around the world.

 It looks like investors are actually checking the physics behind the datacenter in space idea and understanding that it will never work. It is a shame that rich people are able to manipulate us so easily to begin with but after a year or two we seem to start checking facts and developing a solid understanding which is great.

I think a datacenter built into a platform on the sea (like an oil rig) with the capability to lower and raise the actual datacenter in and out of the water is a better idea, yes there are definitely hurdles bt it’s definitely possible as Microsoft has actulally already demonstrated this for a good few years.

yeah and they found out the costs outweighed the benefits.

I’d say high altitude deserts like the Gobi or the Atacama would be better places. Low air temperature due to altitude and large amounts of sunlight to gather.

I am 100% sure the costs of a “sea water datacenter” are much lower than an idea that completely and utterly ignores physics.

If physics are to be ignored then all of the money in the entire world will not solve the problems faced with a space AI datacenter.

The facts are that there simply isn’t enough land water to support population demand and the amount for the data center cooling systems they want to build. So…the cost of an underwater datacenter would seem cheap in comparison.

Space is not accessible for AI datacenters so the next cheapest idea is definitely underwater.

Hmmm, in my opinion any kind of desert would be a bad idea due to the billions of sand particals freely moving with the wind. These particles can actually generate static electric when they are going through a cooling system.

I know this because I fix computers and can never use a vaccum to remove the dust, the dust particles being sucked through the end of the hoover factually generates static and has actually damaged so many computers where people thoght they could use a vacuum cleaner.

It does appear that many data center operators are finding ways around these issues though.

Better than impossible still doesn’t equal practical.

You can wave your hands about all you like, but the only actual underwater data-centre was proven to not be cost effective.

Totally agreed, the issue is the people leading the AI effort don’t seem in tune with reality and always seem to be trying to do the impossible. I’m kind of exploring the limits of what’s possible.

I found this video about underwater datacenters, it looks like a good video.

This direct-to-chip cooling/immersion cooling looks good.

Hmmm, underwater servers found a decrease of 40% carbon emissions and a 40% energy saving compared to the same being built on land.

Obviously the logistical cost would be high due to being in the sea, perhaps this might become cheaper once a logistical method is designed and built as it might be a large one off cost for the initial setup of the logistics.

Cool, another Coldfusion video.

Waiting for data centres in outer space to tackle the cooling problem as underwater cooling systems still impacts future water supplies.

This whole thing is a mess, SpaceX is actually listed as a computer processing company and not a space vehicle company. I’m not sure of these rich people can make money without lying to and misleading people.
