AIR intro vs reg missions, new player experience

I’m a new player who just completed all the AIR Career Missions.
I thought i was still doing the tutorial content, but i was immediately given:

-A Level 2 Security mission (Delving into the Past) that was far too difficult for a new player in a frigate

  • A bugged Distribution mission (More Quafe Please) that wont complete and can’t be supported by a GM because it’s a COSMOS mission.

  • A Level 1 Industrial mission (Balancing the Books) that tells you to deliver an item then introduces salvaging, then the salvaging fails like 8x in a row and you’re supposed to know to keep trying until you get the item.

balancing the books is a career agent mission. Salvaging at your level (probably level 1) is difficult to get the chances to scan correctly.
where as Delving into the Past is a COSMOS storyline mission… it is a bit more difficult than your average L2 mission as you should be more acquainted with mission running and a better fitted ship.
COSMOS are not supported as they are some of the oldest code in the game and they will not take the time to work on them, as it could break something more important in game.

I expect this new player experience will in the very near future be different once all new players start in a new region ‘Exordium’ where I assume they won’t accidentally be able to start COSMOS missions right after doing the introductory missions.

Main thing to remember is that the penalties for failing missions aren’t that steep, and they can also sit undone in your queue for ages.
So you can just ignore the hard ones you can’t do and start with some level 1s for some faction you like the look of.

Hello @FastSloth, welcome to New Eden…

Best you buckle up and hang on tight cuz you’re in for one wild ride…

First off, any mission that hasn’t had the mission objective completed will reset back to start after Downtime for up to 7 days, after that it’s considered a fail..

On a side note to help remove little annoying bugs, especially after a game patch update, access Esc Menu while in-game, select ‘Reset Settings’ tab, then select ‘Clear All Cache Files’… That will prompt a log-out…

Then before logging back into the game, select Launcher settings (Gear icon top right corner of Launcher), select Eve Online (located left side) and then select ‘Verify Game Files’… That will take a little time to complete and when done, select ‘Remove Unused Files’…

After that log back into the game and try completing the mission again.. Then try talking to the Agent again…

As for the mission - ‘More Quafe Please’, that’s offered from a Circle Agent named Ossa Blaus…

Circle Agents are linked in a chain with other Circle Agents… Upon successful completion of their mission, they give a referral to the next Circle Agent in the chain… Most of their missions are simple Courier missions… Each of the 4 main Factions (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar) have their own group of Circle Agents located in high security space.

All Circle Agents are Level 1 and available to all players… Each Circle Agent will give Corporation Standing increase… One of the Circle Agent’s in the group will give Faction Standing increase… The Circle Agent groups are repeatable but the Faction Standing increase is only granted once…

However, there have been reports that some of the Circle Agents are overworked and will no longer offer repeatable missions… Course that information has yet to be verified…

Anyway, Circle Agent Ossa Blaus works in the Gallente Federation Circle group…

Now about the mission “Delving into the Past”… That’s actually a 3 part mission offered from regular Level 2 Security Agents… I suggest asking your Corp members if they could help you complete that 3 part mission series… On the other hand, if you don’t want to get any negative Faction Standing hits, just decline that Agent’s mission offer..

Good luck and may you have a long rewarding career here in New Eden…
