Alkabsi Planetary Battle

So, obviously there is a lot of things happening in EVE on planets. And since our characters are too smart to go posting the time and date and numbers for our ops IC, we don’t. However, it does make moves that characters are making to effect the battle near impossible to coordinate.

Since Ali’s the only person that’s officially confirmed to be on the ground on Alkabsi IV, I’m starting this thread. Hopefully we can all separate IC from OOC and not metagame.

The following are Ali’s sitreps to Lord Sarum. So far, they’ve been mailed to Cardinal Itharem, acting as a stand in to Lord Sarum.

My Lord Sarum,

Sir, the following is a report from the battlefield on Alkabsi IV. True to my announcement, the entirety of the 331st Sarum Hussars have been deployed to the outback. The 1st Para’nashu Sentinels, a heavy infantry regiment, and the 2nd Para’nashu Lances, a tank regiment, are in the process of deploying.

It is my intent to eliminate the enemy forces as quickly as possible using direct action. Utilizing orbital imagery, aerial camera drones, and close air support, my troops will be directed to enemy formations to engage with fire and maneuver. Lightning thrust into the enemy will shatter enemy cohesion allowing us to destroy them in detail and encourage surrenders.

We have utilized aerial drops of leaflets that promise amnesty to any persons or group of persons bearing the leaflet who surrenders, in addition to a canteen of ice water. While there will be those who wish to fight to the death—something which we are more than happy to oblige—those that surrender will tell others of both our overwhelming might and mercy. It is my goal that this action be the lodestar for future pacification operations.

I will have my adjutant give you solid numbers on total surrenders so far once they are tallied from all troops in the field.

Thus far casualties are light, with ZERO KIA and 17 WIA, all in stable condition.

This also marks the first combat test of Deliverance MAT (Marine Armored Transport). Deliverance is an armored transport that is capable of dropping from orbit with Marines without the use of assault shuttles or other landers. Once on the ground, it is capable of fighting as a ground vehicle or as a VTOL transport.

Deliverance was designed in Damnidios Para’nashu with assistance from Lai Dai and Carthum Conglomerate. Currently 26 vehicles are participating in this combat test.

Deliverance can carry 13 Marines, a whole squad, with combat load, with a 75 kilometer combat range on the ground at 75kph. It can carry the same load 5 kilometers range in aerial flight <2500m AGL at 120kph. It is able to switch between these two modes in under a minute.

The assault model mounts a gatling pulse laser for engaging the enemy (Deliverance MAT-A). The repair and recovery model mounts a remote armor repair module (Deliverance MAT-R). It should be noted that due to the energy requirements, neither of these can be used in flight mode. Current doctrine is to deploy these in sections of 4, with 3 MATAs and 1 MATR, with 3 sections to a platoon. Two platoons and a Headquarters section are currently deployed on Alkabsi IV, having dropped in the first wave.

The first Deliverance engagement with rebels ended as expected, Amarr Victor, with only moderate damage to the armor of one MAT-A.

Amarr Victor!

331st Sarum Hussars / Commander Sekhmet Alizabeth

Activity: The 331st are fully deployed and decisively engaged. As of current all known water sources within 20km of the landing zones are secure, or monitored with QRF forces able to respond. The Draka Armoy is secured. However, it was looted before hand. 331 Troops remain mobile, disrupting the enemy forces as they are encountered to secure a solid LZ for 2nd Para’nashu Lances to land and deploy.

Effective: 331st remain combat effective.

Unit Disposition: 331 is deployed around the Draka plains and intends to advance into the Draka Badlands once the remaining Para’nashu forces are deployed. 331st proposed to fold into the 1st Para’nasu division once 2nd Lances have deployed. Additional air support is requested from 1st Sarum Royal Army as it is confirmed outside forces in small teams are on Alkabsi.

Situation Overview: 331st is maintaining an aggressive mobile posture. Local weather conditions have proven no issue to the regiment, which was raised from Ni-Kunni Sarumites, already a desert people. Nighttime operations have proven incredibly effective due to the use of thermal sensors.

Operations: Thus far, the 331st has based mostly around the Draka Armory, sending out Squadrons to roam the perimeter. Individual Troops have made ‘thunder runs’ in transports ranging 5-10 kilometers out of the perimeter. The deliberately unpredictable nature of these runs has allowed Troop Commanders to engage and destroy many rebels. They have also encountered surrendering rebels, though less than predicted.

Intelligence: So far we have seen evidence of rebels using mining explosives as improvised mines. We have also seen heavy mining lasers hastily attached to the back of hauler vehicles to make a crude but effective, short-range motor gun carriage.

Logistics: Water remains the key logistics requirement. At current operations, we are budgeting 10 litres per person per day. At this consumption rate, over half of our organic logistics train is used to bring in water.

Communications: 331st has good coms linkup with 1st Sarum Royal Army. However, this took some time to effect due to the nature of the deployment.

Personnel: 1KIA, 49WIA, with 30 WIA returning to full duty after medical treatment. No critical skills personnel have been injured. Battlefield performance of the regiment remains unaffected.

1st Para’nashu Division / Commander Sekhmet Alizabeth

Activity: The 331st are fully deployed and decisively engaged. As of current all known water sources within the Draka Planes are secure, or monitored with QRF forces able to respond. 1st Para’nashu Sentinels continue to drop. 2nd Para’nashu Lances are landing at current, with two companies deployed and active in the battlespace.

Effective: 1st Para’nashu Division is moving to full combat capability.

Unit Disposition: 1st Para’nashu Division is currently in control of Draka Planes. 331st Hussars remains mobile throughout the battlespace, seeking targets. 1st Sentinels has taken up blocking positions around water supplies and shaft mines thought to be rebel staging areas. 2nd Lances continue to land.

Situation Overview: 1st Para’nashu Division has taken the fight to the enemy, remaining proactive. The enemy remains mostly static during daylight due to local weather conditions and temperatures around 40C. The division has several secondary objectives: to secure water sources and shaft mines, to locate daytime hiding places that rebels are using, and to maintain a nighttime mobile posture to prevent enemy movement.

Operations: 1st Para’nashu has engaged many rebel forces, both in the offense and defense. All operations are hasty. A deliberate attack is planned on the shaft mine of Draka III-A for tomorrow at 0100 hours. Shining Flame warclones are requested to run point for the attack. A surrendered rebel has indicated that Draka III-A contains a Republic/Tribal or other external advisor for the rebels. The use of incapacitating gas has been authorized and these chemical weapons are being deployed and staged.

Intelligence: We have encountered evidence that foreign forces are in the battlespace, notably a ration pack improperly buried. Interrogation of surrendered rebels indicate that rebel forces have advisors. Vlad Cetes is a know Sani Sabik sympathizer who seeks to discredit Holy Amarr and worsen our relations with the rest of the cluster. He also has access to a certain number of warclones calling themselves The Black Hand who might attempt false flag operations.

Logistics: Water remains the key logistics requirement. Water consumption has stabilized at 7 litres of water per day per person. Within 24 hours, 1st Sentinels will have set up and secured an improved launchpad to bring in supplies as needed, freeing up assault shuttles for use on the battlefield and ferrying supplies to units further afield.

Communications: 1st Para’nashu Division has full coms and force tracker linkup with 1st Sarum Royal Army

Personnel: Since last report: 14KIA, 35WIA, with 22 WIA returning to full duty after medical treatment. No critical skills personnel have been injured. Battlefield performance of the division remains unaffected.

1st Para’nashu Division / Commander Sekhmet Alizabeth

Activity: The 331st are fully deployed and decisively engaged. As of current all known water sources within the Draka Planes are secure, or monitored with QRF forces able to respond. 1st Para’nashu Sentinels drop has been completed. 2nd Para’nashu Lances landings continue, with two battalions deployed and active in the battlespace. 1st Guards Reserve Regiment has arrived and began their drops two hours ago. Expect complete deployment within 8 hours. 3rd Combat Support Regiment (Combat Engineers, Air Defence, Artillery, and Military Police Battalions) will begin deployment within two hours. 4th Infantry and 5th Infantry regiments are standing by to deploy to the Kaba Springs once the 331st and 2nd Lances begin their sweep of the Draka Badlands to take up blocking positions.

Effective: 1st Para’nashu Division is moving to full combat capability. It is expected in two days that Para’nashu forces will be at the effective strength of two divisions.

Unit Disposition: 1st Para’nashu Division is currently in control of Draka Planes and scouting into the Draka Badlands. 331st Hussars remains mobile throughout the battlespace, seeking targets. 1st Sentinels has taken up blocking positions around water supplies and shaft mines thought to be rebel staging areas, but handing those off to 1st Guards Reserve. 2nd Lances is at over half strength. 1st Guards Reserve is taking up defensive positions to allow frontline units freedom of movement to best engage the enemy.

Additionally, rather than moving civilians and non-combatants simply behind our lines, Newelle Family is moving them to the citadel in orbit to keep the battlespace uncluttered.

Operations: Draka III-A has been cleared with acceptable losses. 5 EPWs were taken and turned over to 1st Sarum Royal Army for interrogation. A small rebel force had taken a Ni-Kunni family hostage and tried to bargain their way off the planet with them. Arch Lieutenant Falkri, Commander of F Troop, was decisive in bringing that incident to an end with all rebels dead and no hostages injured. Corporal of Horse Hijazi was instrumental in carrying out the operation, but died in the engagement. May God accept her soul to Him. 2nd Lances have begun reconnaissance in force operations into the badlands.

Intelligence: We continue to believe that foreign personnel are active in the battlespace. Fortunately, so far there is no evidence of any foreign weapons. Foreign personnel seem to be mostly engaged in advising rebels, rather than acting as paramilitary forces.

Logistics: An improved landing facility has been deployed in 1st Para’nashu Division’s AO. This has allowed bulk landers to satisfy most of the division’s logistical needs.

Communications: 1st Para’nashu Division has full coms and force tracker linkup with 1st Sarum Royal Army.

Personnel: Since last report: 32KIA, 75WIA, with 60 WIA returning to full duty after medical treatment. No critical skills personnel have been injured. Battlefield performance of the division remains unaffected.

1st Para’nashu Division / Commander Sekhmet Alizabeth

Activity: At 0200 Operation Avalanche, a combat drop into the Draka Badlands by 4th Para’nashu Marine Mountain Infantry division commenced. After 30 minutes of sub-orbital bombardment by House Sarum ships, coordinated by Lord Consort Newelle, on targets designated by force recon teams and pathfinders, the 4th Marine Mountain conducted a combat drop en mass into the Badlands. Concurrently, 331st Sarum Hussars and 1st Sentinels advanced from the Draka Plains into the badlands. 2nd Lances crossed LOD at H+2. 1st Guards Reserve remained in position, securing logistics and landing fields set up by 3rd Combat Support. H+8 4th Para’nashu Triarii Regiment began landing behind friendly lines to reinforce critical positions. H+14 4th Marine Mountain Regiment consolidated on two main routes through the Badlands for 1st Para’nashu Div’s vehicles. By H+16, 4th Marine Mountain had reached near-full cohesion. 3rd Combat Support’s Arty Bn has moved into the badlands, taking up two positions: Firebase Apocalypse and Firebase Armageddon. 5th Para’nashu Infantry remains in reserve in orbit. 2nd Guards Reserve has formed and is readying for landing. This is all deployable regiments of Lady Newelle, Holder of Damnidos Para’nashu.

Effective: 331st Sarum Hussars is considered Performance Degraded. 4th Marine Mountain is considered Performance Degraded. All other combat units remain combat effective.

Unit Disposition: 1st Para’nashu Division is currently in control of Draka Plains and attacking enemy units in the Draka Badlands. The Draka Badlands remains contested, with battles ongoing. The terrain there is incredibly unsuited to attacks. However, currently, the division has control of pockets of the badlands, allowing for easy air transportation between them. Ground transport between friendly areas is best made along observed routes or with air support.

Situation Overview: 1st Para’nashu Division continues to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy. The rebels are making best use of terrain to prolong the conflict, but Para’nashu forces have risen to the occasion, despite inhospital weather and unfavourable terrain. Enemy activity in the badlands continues day and night, with many of them being better equipped than rebels in the Draka Plains. Evidence of foreign equipment has been found; though no markings were found on it, it is believed to be of Minmatar manufacture. Examples have been given to 1st Sarum Royal Army G-2. The situation in the badlands can be categorized as intense. Rebel forces fight to the death with tactics and skill not unsophisticated. This included a rocket attack on Division CP. House Sarum ships are requested to remain on standby for sub-orbital strikes as needed to suppress the enemy prior to attacks by ground forces. It is estimated that between 5 and 6 thousand rebels have been neutralized since the start of Operation Avalanche. So far material losses have been high, but acceptable: 7 tanks, 3 Deliverance MATs, 15 APCs, 2 assault shuttles. Personal losses are also high, but acceptable, as detailed below. WE ARE WINNING.

Operations: Operation Avalanche is considered to be a success. In the next 24 hours, it is expected that 1st Para’nashu Division will have full control of the badlands. 4th Triarii is planning for an assault on the rebel strong point of ‘Ruby Ridge’ in 2 hours. The division has moved from hasty attacks to deliberate, given the enemy strength and terrain. This slows down the speed of advance, but remains utterly necessary.

Intelligence: We have solid evidence of foreign personnel, including body of same. We have captured foreign weapons, of simplistic, but effective design. Foreign personnel are acting as rebel advisors and in paramilitary operations against 1st Para’nashu Division forces. We are attempting to capture alive foreign troops.

Logistics: The loss of two assault shuttles will not meaningfully impact our logistics. At present, however, is the concern of evacuating wounded from the lines and to trauma centres. Combat Support Medical Centres focus on emergency cases and stabilizing wounded Marines for travel to orbit. Given the number of calls for fire (sub-orbital strikes), surface to orbit evacs are often delayed. Of high priority is a secure ground route from the front lines in the Badland to landing pads in the plains.

Communications: 1st Para’nashu Division has full coms and force tracker linkup with 1st Sarum Royal Army.

Personnel: Since last report: 445KIA, 932WIA, with 120 WIA returning to full duty after medical treatment. Division G-2 is KIA. Division Assistant G-3 is KIA. Regimental Surgeon 4th Marine Mountain is MIA. Battalion Surgeon 1/4 Marine Mountain is MIA. Commander of 1/4 Marine Mountain is KIA. Commanders of 4th Marine Mountain companies B, F, and G are KIA. Battlefield performance of the division remains unaffected, though certain constituent units are considered performance degraded.

Activity: 1st Para’nashu Div continues operations in the Draka Badlands. 4th Triarii has taken and neutralized all enemy resistance on Ruby Ridge 1st Sentinels maintains overwatch on the MSRs between firebases and staging areas in the Draka Plains. 2nd Lances along with 331st Hussar vehicles escort logistics convoys through the MSRs. 4th Marine Mountain is sweeping north, towards Kaba Springs with dismounted support from 331st. 1st Guards Reserve maintains control of key areas in the Draka Plains and logistics landing points. Sub-orbital strikes remain a key component of attacks, allowing for maneuvers against the enemy prior to assaults to be conducted with less hinderance.

Effective: 331st Sarum Hussars is considered Performance Degraded. 4th Marine Mountain is considered Performance Degraded. 2nd Lances is considered Performance degraded, due to vehicles down for maintenance.

The division positions in the badlands are far more tennable than previous. MSRs have been set up and remain mostly observed allowing for effective logistics.

So far, EKIAs of foreign forces have been reported, with all possible equipment turned over to 1st Sarum Royal Army intelligence. PIR remains ascertaining just what foreign forces are in the battlespace. Battle damage and equipment overstress has caused us to plan a pause in two hours, lasting for six for PMCS on battleplate and vehicles. At the end of that, over 300 troops, previously WIA, will rejoin their units. Expect some units that are PD to return to combat effective. The enemy numbers remain unknown, since past report, it is estimated that around 2000 rebels have been killed.

Operations: Ruby Ridge was taken with acceptable losses among 4th Triarii. Predictions about control of the badlands were overly optimistic. Foreign forces and weapons in the battlespace have caused a re-evaluation of the time table. Despite this, Para’nashu forces continue to bring the fight to the enemy.

Intelligence: There is solid evidence of foreign personnel and weapons in the battlespace, both of EKA and captured examples. PIR remains to ascertain the exact nature of foreign influence.

Logistics: Battle damage of equipment has caused a need for either full replacement or significant parts replacement of key equipment, notably battle armor. Commanders have expressed concern that without proper PMCS of armor, troops will not be hardened against RCBN attacks. 2nd Lances vehicles are rotating in and out for trackpad replacement and lubricant/oil changes. The conditions in the badlands are extremely hostile to vehicles.

Communications: 1st Para’nashu Division has full coms and force tracker linkup with 1st Sarum Royal Army and House Sarum fleet units.

Personnel: Since last report: 221KIA, 664WIA, with 153 WIA returning to full duty after medical treatment. No critical skills personnel lost. Battlefield performance of the division remains unaffected, though certain constituent units are considered performance degraded.
