As i say before…
You don’t need to believe in facts, they are just here. You can check the citation in the Recruitment Program rules.
Correct, he did not use the word “ganking”.
But killing … ganking … not much difference in salt content for a gankee. Ganking is such a negative word, only used by the ones who dieded in fiery displays.
The message from that part of the video was simply … funny, in them olden days when things were simpler and the official take on things was stated. “Give new players a bit more time to grow fatter in hisec and your loot will be better.” I miss Dr. Eyjo
Perhaps you might have forgotten a few.
- It’s not for farming rewards.
- how to proof?
It’s simple on paper. If it was so IRL - bots, RMT’ers and other criminals would be defeated a long time ago. That’s the fact.
Thats ok, you will be replaced with the many other new people I meet and play with on a near daily basis. You might find there are plenty of people willing to help if you would stop complaining long enough to have a real conversation with them.
So everything after that is just assumption on your part, and you should have stopped rather than bullshitting about what was said in that presentation.
Things he did actually say though:
- 75% of players accept pvp
- Without war there is no consumption and if there is no consumption, there is no profit for players
- We do like shooting each other, preferably in the face
There is other, more recent anecdotal evidence available to us as players, that pvp isn’t harmful to the game, including to new player retention.
So like I said, maybe you meant another video, because that does not say anything at all about ganking.
To add to that, the subject of this thread is about trying to limit the gameplay of alphas, which potentially impacts the gameplay of new players. So if you are in favour of “think of the newbs”, then you’d also reject the OP.
they never moderate fanbois
I’ll openly describe myself as an EVE fanboy and comments of mine are removed regularly.
I know it’s easier to just blab off ■■■■■■■■ than it is to be informed, but at least have a modicum of a clue.
Okay, now verbatim. “(4:33) Unfortunately we lose quite a bit of players in the first three months. I don’t want to blame you guys, but you don’t necessarily treat them nice… (5:42) What you guys can do though, treat them nice for the first three months. You know, get them acquainted, help them. We have great institutions like the universities, the Eve University and other institutions that help players adapt to this world. So, you know, think about this as a real hunter. Not only target the prey when it’s young and fragile, but make it grow, help it to understand. And then … the prey is much bigger”.
There’s no bullshitting, there are no assumptions, except the ones you make about my view on the matter of this thread:
- if alpha accounts are suspected of abuse, report them (origin of thread)
- it’s a bad idea to not allow alpha’s to gank (continuation of thread), by locking security settings or w/e
- i don’t really care how early or late newbies are shot at, but what Dr. Eyjo says (see above) is relevant
- everybody has a right to gank or to not gank
- nobody has a right to immunity from ganking, except in the starter systems
- hisec is not an absolute protection against non-consensual pvp and neither should it be
- my personal choices for when to go for a kill exclude hisec unless aggressed
- I am not convinced after a decade that new players leave because they lost a ship or two through pvp, on condition that they are socially embedded in the game through corporations etc.
- I already rejected OP’s suggestion 4 days ago. No need to repeat
And here in lies the rub.
That We is YOU THE PLAYERS
Where exactly is the CCP representative?
There is no regulation to how noobs are treated and Ill tell you this;
In my experience, new players have left more due to terrible CEOing and lack of being given something to do, not because their free ship got asploded.
Yes, but everything you’ve assumed about ganking, he never said. You’ve totally made it up, because it suits your World view rather than the actual evidence. EVE Uni for example get their members involved in PVP (it’s a crap F1 monkey form, but PVP none the less).
We know from other parts of his talk that he’s quite aware that EVE players accept PVP, so he could have been meaning something other than what you imagine.
We don’t know, but we certainly know that he never even mentioned ganking once in the video.
And all of that is really off topic for the thread. This thread is about shutting down options for new players, yet you don’t seem to be against that.
Here’s your original quote:
Nothing. He said nothing about that at all.
wth have you been reading
Oh look. another wanna be code fuktard. aka cyber bully terrorist.
Oh look, a perma-victim forum whiner!
Your words, and they are BS.
with respect, reread my posts in this thread, we may not even be on different sides of the discussion. Or don’t, up to you.
You gonna cry more or is that it?
Oh look, another instance of farmer trash that doesn’t understand that EVE is a PvP game. Do you think it would join an FPS server and whine about how everyone is shooting each other?
I did read your words. I quoted them even. I’ll do it again:
He said nothing in that video about ganking. He didn’t even mention the word once.
You’ve imagined that his referral to looking after new players is a commentary on ganking, but you don’t know that to be true at all. Looking after new players could mean a whole lot of things, including shooting them.
So yes, what you wrote is imagined BS and attributes an argument to Dr Gudmundsson that does not exist.
