Alpha clones; a menace to eve

You’re right—why pay for Omega when Alpha is free?

Again?
No sir! It comes out of my pocket! It does get purchased for cash but not by the PLEXER!

PLEX is indeed created out of thin air by players, though perhaps not the majority of it.

I am not grinding at anything:

Then stop buying PLEX with real money! You’re enabling all of us freeloaders here!

Because someone has to. If paid accounts didn’t exist, this game wouldn’t exist. So, you can thank the Omega subscribers and NES cash shop whales for keeping it alive this long…

The Alpha/Omega system carry strong pay-to-win connotations. I suppose we should be grateful for it.

EVE has no “win” condition, therefore it cannot be “pay-to-win”….

Tbh. I would be open to the idea of ‘golden ammo’. We should consider that without financial support, CCP might not be where it is today and the game would be in another company’s hands, we could have ended up with pay-to-win alpha/omega system, buggy expansions, and less dedication to development by funneling the fans money and energy to vanity projects.

The win condition is determined by popularity. Each player gets 1 point for each other player that votes for one of their forum posts. For example, you have 8700 points (not bad!), whereas Adada has roughly 0. Whoever has the most points is the most beloved and thus the winner.

If you’re so butthurt over it, don’t buy PLEX for cash and sell it on the market. Then none of the PLEX comes out of your pocket.

Alphas aren’t counted as warm bodies to the share holders, only paying accounts count to them.

I am not hurt over it, just stated the obvious facts, and if I hurt anyone’s feelings, well that is too bad. CCP is never going to pull the plug on Alpha clones. CCP is never going to pull the plug on selling omega for PLEX. You can stop getting all sweaty over it.

If CCP thought for a minute they could make revenues solely on omega subs, they would never had changed the game all those years ago. My first reply in this thread told ALL of you, the truth, the truth hurts. Not one of you omegas would have a PvP score to amount to a hill of beans with the alphas being your clay pigeons. They are easy prey for you, doesn’t matter what they do, they cannot make an alpha ship powerful enough to take on an omega ship. This is why they are here playing for free. They are here to keep you here and entertained.

Removing the alphas from the game would result in the game losing profits. How? Because something like 10% of them buy omega for at least a month. And I think I read 5% or more buy PLEX for cash, while they have no intent of buying omega. Calling the alphas “freeloaders” is calling the ones who actually buy PLEX for cash thieves.

I could care less what your omega/alpha status is in this game. If I jump on as my PvP and pop you in your can, I will expect a mail or message with a few choice words. I get that. If I am on as my hauler and get popped in my can, you won’t hear me complain about it.

Removing people from any community is akin to burning Rome, making EVE a gated community to keep the common players out. The last thing CCP will ever do, is read this or any other thread, and say Wow! That is a great idea. Let’s do that!

Never going to happen.

Quiet alpha, your opinion is noted but not respected.

No, if anything is ruining the game in terms of its development it is whales and PLEXers of any ilk. And people buying Omega in bulk. But mostly the whales. This is what allows them to ignore players and not feel obligated to earn their sub money.

Alphas were just a numbers filling padding for a game in decline. Fodder for vets. Now EVE is not in financial decline because F2P models generate more revenue. A way to eke out a few dollars here and there from even the poors who would normally just pass on the game. There would probably be no EVE without F2P/Alphas. What’s easier? Putting aside your ego, listening to your customers and making a better game? Or  MICR:star_struck:transcations  !!!

PLEX has only been a thing for about 20 years, but it’s going to be the end of Eve?

you sure about that

Yes, you absolutely need to do that. We’ll listen to you about what a game studio should do when you’ve had a single game last over 20 years. If you haven’t done 1/4 of that, I’m going to suggest that you have no clue what the f*ck you’re talking about.

EVE is dying since those same 20 years, actually since 1895.

Eve has been “dying” for so long that I’ve taken breaks from it longer than some online games had servers running.

What if I, an simple alpha miner, made a thread, asking what if, a person like me, bought CCP from its publisher, Pearl Abyss in Korea and then, what if I turned off all the omega and alpha making the whole game free to play, but for real, then what if I fired all the Icelandic staff and moved the game to Germany…

Yes. I have seen this thread 1,000 times, the game moves on and the thread ends up dying.

Also I think this Raxor8lade is actually an Aiko alt, she keeps telling us “Calm down miner.”

Does anyone else notice a similarity here?

Fly safe o7

lol….Aiko would have to be truly wondrous indeed to be shooting stuff with me at Jita at the same time as ganking in Isanamo. Razor is a fellow member of Opus Dei, which has one of the highest kill rates in Jita.

Personally I think Alphas do have some value….they at least provide more stuff to shoot at…but I also think people should pay for the right to whine. If you’re paying nothing, then you’re getting just exactly what you paid for.

As much as I don’t respect alphas, I do realise the game would be even emptier than it already is without them.
