Alpha restrictions. It's time to let go, CCP

No.

Or show us proof.

Anyway L4 unavaliable to alpha clones.

So my point of this thread is remove the ship restrictions that alphas could play their game in low/null, crab the green as everyone else but not be able to do more advance activities in HS since it’s too much safe to bee free.

I didnt see any problems if alpha be able to run marauders in null. It’s very high risk.

If you can’t figure it out then far be it for me to try and convince you otherwise. Some of us do achieve this (and more) on a regular basis. I’ve actually hit as high as $200m ISK/hr+ on a single (unassisted) account.

But yes, Alphas don’t have access to L4s (which would be a really bad idea).

PVE isn’t just dull for alphas, it’s also dull for Omegas.

What would you accept as “proof”? I just did 4 Missions in HighSec that turned out to take exactly 59 minutes to run.

  • Worlds Collide
  • Gone Berserk
  • Angel Extravaganza
  • Attack of the Drones

After 59 minutes I had earned:

  • 64.4M ISK bounty
  • 27.102 LP (which I usually sell for 2.000 ISK /LP) = 54.2M value in LP cash
  • 11.2 M ISK in mission rewards + bonuses
  • 51.5M Loot from the MTUs: EVE Tycoon

That equals 181.3M added value to my wallet/assets after 59min.

Now you could argue that the price for the loot and LP might go up and down by market fluctuations and I need to buy tags to exchange the LP and thats all additional effort and will cost time - yes, but thats all a question of organization and efficiency. My buy-orders for the tags keep running in the background, I only turn in the LPs when I have a million of them per Faction so the travel times to deliver the tags to the closest station of that corp are rather neglectible. However, no matter how conservative you count: It is well over 100M ISK/hr and that was simple standard mission running, no blitzing, no cherrypicking, no burners included. And not a particulary blingy ship, I used a cheaply T2 fitted Kronos with long-range ammo most of the time. Experts in blitzing with specialized ships can make reliably 200m/hour in Highsec with L4s and those who tank on factionstanding to only blitz burners in specialized Anti-Burner ships even more.

^ Everything this pilot said.

And abyss still smashes these values with less effort. Why anyone still missions aside from the epic arcs for standings is beyond me.

Some of us like flying something other than cruisers.

Depends on the level of Abyss you fly. T4 doesn’t earn more than what I just did, I have run that to the thousands and you will end somewhere between 100 and 150M on average per hour. That equals standard L4 missionrunning in a Marauder, non blitzing, non-cherrypicking.

T5/T6 does earn more, yes, but you need a ship and clone for it that can be pretty expensive depening on the type of Abyss you run. And compared to a full-blitz-setup (including burners) it isn’t that much more.

Most people I know who do run T5/T6 have setups that cost round about 5b and upwards (including myself) to do it conveniently and fast. And a single disconnect or gank can turn this into a big zero. A Highsec Marauder won’t die to a disconnect and if you are not dumb you can see a gank incoming from miles away, so I’d day it’s a lot less risky.

What are you selling that you get 2k isk/lp? o.O iirc the average people get is 1k.

Ahh, you’re making faction modules. Fair enough.

Still, if everyone did that, the price would drop, so it might be something you can do, but it’s not something doable on a mass scale (for that sort of lp payout.)

On the other hand, even with conservative estimates, it looks like you’ll be making north of 150. Maybe a bit less when you factor in all the extra time you have to take to transport and sell your loot.

what do you trade to get 2000 isk/lp? that sounds high. I am also interested

If you are patient and willing to sell in Dodixie/Hek you you will get 2000 ISK/LP for lots of things

Screenshots, or it never happened and you’re making up stuff. Which isn’t too far from the course given your track record.

pretty sure that ship and techII restrictions are the main resons to get ppl to upgrade.
the SP cap is the only way to make alpha players pay, so this would not be a thing either. and its understandable that is is like this.

a much better approcah would be to have a omega trial (like a few hours of playtime on a Air export programme) so alphas can see what they miss once its gone.

Or even better, go back to the way it was 10 years ago, remove the alpha clone all together, and do a 2 week trial.

that does have a ring to it, but alpha players keep the player count up, and provide content, so that could be a issue. but yeah having a omega trial, would greatly add to sales as people will litterally feel what they lose, especially if the trial would have a Air Expert attached to it so skilltime isn;t really a issue until it expires.
lets say like 3 days of actual playtime or somethings, would not hurt anyone, but make alot of players to upgrade after as the potentials are gone after.

imagine you mine in a mackkinaw and then have to go back to a venture, that will feel like swimming in Honey

The venture is a good ship. It’s under valued and quite the unsuspecting pvp boat.

So I can play for three days, get the few targeted ships for a couple of playstyles then 3 days later I create another account, contract the ships and play for another 3 days, all the while profiting in isk, drops, loot… rince and repeat?
Then I can also register a few accounts at once and multibox for 3 days then when Omega is done I create more accounts and…

Omega trials don’t make sense if Alphas are still in play.

Don’t think it’s true. If every account is eligible of a week or two week Omega trial then they could develop their stuff as Alpha, then when ready get a free sample of the full experience and possibly get hooked for the rest of their lives. :innocent:

They may not go Omega immediately but will know and actually feel the difference, not just in a theoretical sense but have personal experience to compare, thus even if just once they can afford it or the “desperation” grows strong enough they might sub, even if just every now and then when they can afford it.

If they never been Omega they might think it is not a big deal while from personal experience they might realize even if they did their best to play without it that Omega is the way they want to continue.

Nothing beats personal experience in my opinion and a free sample ensures everyone has that personal experience.

The first hit is always free…
