The alphas are here to be abused. You should have been here for the 2 day downtimes. 2 days lost was nothing. Meh…
Alphas have extended the life of EVE, I could see a nerf to ships (battleships), but they are not going away.

Just to throw more salt out there, I say nerf Alphas from daily rewards and rewards from events.

Limit the ability to fit Tech 2 blasters/cannons/pulse weapons etc for Omega status pilots.
