Alphas and Free to Play

Maybe the guy should run for CSM.

:innocent:

wow, given that the Gnosis flown by a lot more total newbs and/or Alpha-limited players and doesn’t even exist for as long as the Harbinger does and your statistic don’t even tell if thats 1on1 engagements… I wonder if you might be a real lawyer

I mean, you don’t even understand what “potential ceiling if used by a skilled vet” means. But please, rest your case. I hope you keep your promise!

For all the ones I have, I never use them, even as an alpha. I don’t need isk and am happy to fly under the radar.

I have agree. Skill points mean nothing more than a juicy target without the experience to fly it correctly. I fly ships that can punch way above their weight limit simply because of experiance. I don’t always win, but that’s the whole point of the game, to make yourself better at the game instead of just lazy at the game.

But that’s just me…

I thought it was fairly obvious what I was referring to, ie: the ship skillset - which doesn’t exist for SoCT hulls. I’m not in front of EVE right now but I don’t recall any skill requirements whatsoever to run the SoCT ships.

It’s pretty obvious what you are referring to if you make a clear and specific statement. You didn’t. The word ‘any’ means ‘any’…not just the ship skillset.

I see some good suggestions up there, but nothing that makes me want to dig deep and buy omega again. I don’t even plex for it. I just jump in to help my friends and if or when they offer free omega, I take it. I do buy plex for cash now and then, but it is a thank you to CCP for making the game. Alpha and Omega are just status labels. Doesn’t tell anyone what I spent on this game. Looking up status on zkillboards is a load of cow excrement too. It don’t tell you anything beyond the miner character.

Miners like this alpha seldom have much use for them. I did try out a mining fit on a battleship once. Not very cost effective in my opinion. CCP should do the most sane thing and return to the beginning on their 25th anniversary. Shut the servers down, end the game, and get back to basics. Back when they made the awesome board game Hættuspil aka Danger Game and developing children’s educational shows like “Lazy Town”. I think they would be further ahead and could honestly state, they completed their goals.

Ok, it was obvious to everyone else. Anyway, my point still stands: you can board a SoCT ship without any prerequisites and have up to 100% of it’s potential available immediately.

There you go again. ‘Everyone’ ? Your two biased friends is ‘everyone’ on the forum ? This sort of sloppy arguing is precisely what gets away with posing as reasons for changing stuff in EVE.

You’re nitpicking over semantics - I can’t really help you with that.

Because he’s frantically trying to change the subject. He’s not willing to discuss what you said, because he’d lose that, so he’s going to try and turn it around into an argument about how you said it. There’s a word for that and it’s a certain type of people who tend to do that.

Recognise it, call it out for what it is and then stop wasting your energy on them, preferably by focussing it on others.

Agreed. I’ll just reiterate my original point - the SoCT ships are too OP, given out free and don’t have any prerequisites to immediately jump into.

This seems to run contrary to the whole player-built premise of EVE. Where’s my Jove ship?

In a New Eden CA$H Shop near you.

Why not? The SoCT ships are given out for free to be re-sold…

Be careful what you wish for…

 :psyccp: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I wish, I wish… in addition to the ship you mentioned above (left to right):

• Angel colossus “Gabriel” (somewhere between battleship and dreadnaught)
• Concord (?) drone marauder “Sacribis”
• Gallente/Minmatar Heavy interdiction cruiser “Vanity”
• Triglavian marauder
• Concord carrier “Mountain” (high-sec)

Not sure what the revised “Bowhead” or the teeny ship in front of the Sacribis is.

Just keep in mind if game balance is completely thrown out the window there will always be someone with a bigger wallet who bought an even more overpowered ship or has a group of such that is larger and with such ships player skill might no longer surpass the out of bounds ship bonuses.

That is one of the reasons why I wish CCP would focus more on the normal factions (and their interactions and strife) rather than “oh look here’s the new fancy thing, please be entertained”.

The SoCT ships are most definitely not handed out for “free”. You have to have an Omega account. Now, if Alpha accounts also received them, then yeah, that would put far too many of them in circulation.

The trade-off is they can’t be scrapped and they can’t be insured. If you want to limit their availability, make it to where they can’t be sold or traded, either on the market or contracts. Use it or trash it.

That’s still free (for Omegas) - which was my point.

Sort of like “free” healthcare, eh? Nothing is free. Someone, somewhere, is paying for it. In this case, those ships cost you the price of your Omega sub. Make them un-sellable and un-tradeable and the problem solves itself…
