Alternative Hangers / "alt" Hangers

Not too sure if this has been suggested but here goes. Renting alternative hanger, or “Alt Hanger” kind of like a corporation rents an office in structures an individual would rent a hanger in the structure and then be able to invite different players/characters to this hanger, similar to the way players invite other players to private chat channels. who would then share access to this alternative hanger. The risks would be that anyone who is invited to the hanger can take anything out of it, so you would have to be mindful on who you give access too. the rental cost would be determined by the number of people sharing the hanger, the more people the higher the cost or something and other various factors maybe. i believe this would help people who have lots of alts or players with friends that are not in the corp they are in, but yea just an idea maybe not a good one but i like that idea lol. i apologize for the poor grammar and spelling.

It has. It would be awesome but apparently CCP hasn’t figured out how to do it.

yea right after i hit post i seen the threads from like 2022 about this, one of them actually was very well written and similar to what i had posted lol

Sounds to me like you just need to make a Corporation, problem solved. It only costs 10m ISK to make a Corporation.

That only works if you’re solo/don’t have your toons in an actual corp.

And the issue is what? You’re asking for something that is already possible with current game mechanics, although not to the exact specifications you want. A corporation have better security/control of its hangars than what you want, I fail to see why you couldn’t just make your own Corp to gain access to additional/shared Hangars.

yea i see that you dont see. and what you said works but that wasnt the intent of the post. if i had all my characters in my own corp then yes it would be fine, but this was targeted more on the people who have friends in the game in the same alliance or characters with their mains in a corp with high sec alts to be able to streamline things as to not have to trade between them individually, more a quality of life improvement. are you able to see now ?

We had this suggestion and this discussion before.

Some people want maximum convenience, thus sharing hangars, wallets, bookmarks or whatever with all of their alts, no matter in which corp or alliance they are. Aka private access lists for basically everything.

Others want EVE to be a game where decisions are meaningful and have consequences and not everything organized around a private altchar network. Joining a corp or creating a corp should have benefits. Dedicating all your chars to a single group should have benefits. Corp Hangars, Bulletins, a shared wallet etc. are such benefits. I wouldn’t want them sacrificed for even more alt-management convenience.

Imho EVE was a better game when everyone had like one Main char and like one or two supporters that sat in Jita to buy/sell stuff or scout ahead. Not 24 toons that run whole industry and logistic chains on their own. But thats just me.

yup, seen that after the post was made, said it in this topic as well.

alt management convenience doesnt take away from the game though atleast in the ways of hanger management. streamlining things to make the daily life of the players smoother isnt scacrificing the meaningfulness of decision making. now making a button to make all your alts fire at the same target at the same time would be bad but this i feel is just a simple quality of life improvement and would be ok.

agreed but this is the game we live in today. and i believe it help create content, when one person is able to feed a whole production network then more people get to making things, which allows more things to go boom.

Yes, this is what we call a “Quality of Life change” instead of a “Game Balance change.”

What OP is asking for is not QoL but a significant change in how current game mechanics work and being so heavily focused around Social/Group interactions it makes no sense in my eyes - that being said I don’t disagree that for some players this would be a welcome addition.

i mean, i see where your concern is, but maybe instead of a person being able to rent space in any structure, they can only do it where their corp has an office. like sub folders in a corp hanger (unseen by everyone but command) and being able to invite their alts / other characters to that sub / alt hanger, for a fee that goes towards the corp. this would condense their characters into one corp, increasing the social interaction but still giving the flexibility of streamlining alt management. maybe

So you think we should drive players to make their own alt corps and interact less? It’s not a “significant change” in game mechanics. You can already do everything with deliver to/contracts to alts, but it’s annoying. This removes the annoying. It is a QoL change.

No, just stating that EVE is heavily focused around Social/Group interactions.

Well, that was the original design, yes. Today mass-alts and non-cooperation are more the norm.

The question is: if we agree that this is not a good way, should we go that path even further by just submitting to the “current realities” or should we block changes that would make it even easier for alt-networks and reserve shared access to group-internal structures…

That is probably a question of mindset…
