And split the playerbase across two shards instead of one? It wouldn’t do the game any good.
Maybe if they downscaled the universe size substantially. Scrap 70% of the systems.
In this thread alone there are hundreds unsubbing and hundreds more declaring their hate for EVE Online. By that metric no one will stay here. They’ll all move to the classic server.
The split would be 80/20 at best and 99/01 at worst in favor of classic.
If CCP launches a classic server (which I’d definitely enjoy), they’d get to nullify everyone’s investment in the “live” server in terms of subs and even PLEX stockpiles, making everyone purchase those things again in the classic version.
So be careful what you wish for, lmao.
Not this forum, Lucas. This thread.
When they roll back the servers to the ‘classic’ rules, am I going to be able to do all the griefer exploits that Lucas cried about for years?
The hyperdunking server!
Lucas will be able to quit EvE a second time.
I don’t know if you have noticed, but a large part of what makes EVE fun is the other players in the same universe.
If the universe has half as many other players, it’s going to get a lot less interesting.
Fun and interesting for whom?
The majority of the current player base wishes for nothing but having EVE become a solo PvE experience.
Then those players should go play X4 Foundations
Wouldn’t you know it just so happens to be on sale on steam right now, too.
They probably took a peek at all the rage on the forums and thought :
"Hey know what could really fire them up to make a point ? "
…
Or better yet, they probably haven’t even noticed the thread … nor give two shits …
This part, at least, is true.
Playing with only people in your solar system is rather dull. I usually play with all players we can find within 8 LY.
Just to reply to this further and readdress some of your other concerns. THe biggest issue here, is that they are selling a fitted ship, Not that they are introducing P2W (that sailed with PLEX) not that they are helping newbros, etc etc, there are lots of good with this, the 1 issue, is the Ship. and this isn’t a frigate, this is a mining barge, one of the mid to big mining rigs, it can fit strip miners. But again, size isn’t really the issue, it’s the fact they are selling a fitted ship.
Something they have always held as sacrosanct was the integrity of the sandbox. that everything in eve is Player built. Fuel for POS used to be purchasable from NPC’s (except the Ice Components) but that all got moved into PI so that it was player created.
Reason Why selling fitted ships breaks the sandbox:
Lets say there are 500 Retrievers being Bought off the market on a daily basis. that means Industry producers need to produce ~500 to keep the price steady at 50Mil. (but lets also assume that for now, the cost of the retriever after production each indy guy is making about 500K isk, this becomes important later.) But now, with this pack, lets say 100/500 Buy the pack instead. That means only 400 Retrievers are going to be bought off the market, but 500 are still produced. this drives prices down (supply and demand) the price dropse to 48Mil… Below the cost to actually produce them. As a result, the market needs to adjust to find a new equilibriam point where retrievers are still selling for 50Mil. that equilibrium point is now 400 per day. so Producers lose 100/day throughput of thier business. Now the obvious counter here, is “Oh but there will be more mining happening so prices will go down”. Except there won’t be an increase in mining, there are still only 500 retrievers per day being obtained, just 100 of them are directly poofed into the game now.
I havn’t even gone into how selling retrievers for $$ risks creating a price cieling that could actually be below what they can even be produced for in game, resulting in producers losing 100% of thier retriever business.
Ultimately this could all be resolved by just adding a bit more plex into the pack and letting people sell that on the market, then BUY the retriever. Create a Public Fitting and a userguide on how to buy it.
I’m fine with buying 3 months game time + 1500 PLEX + an accelerator or some raw SP and a skin or two for $100 bucks. That’s $90 for 6 months of gametime plus some SP, which is basically worth gametime. These sorts of offers seem to be infrequent, which I think they should be.
But selling ships? Not even a frigate. Stop it CCP. This is digusting.
Price is rising so…much rejoicing…we’ll see how the trend continues…
Also, your buy/sell numbers are way off and considering you can only buy one pack per account, your “100 per day” is also probably WAY off.
Which seems true. It’s just the precedent it sets. We’re all just frogs in a pot.
I’m fine as long as the packs are pretty expensive and scale somewhat lineally IRL to the in-game cost and no bonuses (aka gold ammo effect) are introduced. For example, a Noctis pack for $50 or a Scorpion for $150…
