An Open Letter to CCP from Current and Former CSM Members on the "Prospector Pack"

That’s a super good point ‘brother’. A weird snide comment based on incorrect assumptions that makes you look like both an egotistical doofus and also wrong, but that’s par for the course for you.

Looks like we have the response from CCP we were waiting almost a week for.

…been there for a while…

@Brisc_Rubal What do you think the odds are of a response from CCP? It’s disappointing that they seem to be completely ignoring players’ concerns about this.

They won’t respond to us. They will respond to the CSM who will then inform us on behalf of them with much disgust and yet still take the blame.

Did I miss anything?

You forgot they won’t even respond here on their official forum, but on reddit instead. Maybe a thread they won’t pay attention to if we’re lucky.

I thought I covered that?

The Retrievers are injected into the game. This takes away ISK from those that mine the materials for their construction and it takes away ISK from those that try to sell these built ships. Now imagine, the same thing happening with sub-caps and capitals.

Ironic how upset you get because I answer your snide remark with a snide remark. What makes you think your incorrect assumptions that make you look like you’ve never left your starting system don’t deserve to be clapped back on? Maybe don’t be a dick in the first place and this situation won’t be repeated.

I will graciously accept your apology should you decide to do the right thing.

Sorry, the CSM is a silly little marketing device to service a very small player base that is VERY vocal because an exec sent a frank email to his staff that was leaked. That same group of CSM groupies thought it was important to complain about player characters walking in station and that CCP should spend time balancing the game rather than making it more interesting. Then a year or two later Star Citizen gets crazy money to make a game where the player is “oh my gosh” walking around in station and the ships. Who would have thought that would be fun, right?

CSM does nothing for the advancement of the casual player experience and at least from my playing standpoint detract from it with entitlement threads such as this one.

Not saying you or the group doesn’t have a voice, but honestly I would be looking at the numbers ($$) and see who’s spending money each and every month and make/sell stuff that works for them. Not some group of players that constantly bad mouth the game and say it’s dying every month because someone moved their slice of pie slightly to the left or right.

The CSM exists to keep nullsec miners and krabs safe.

Someone who busted their backside for five years to get where they are in the game deserves a little more consideration than a whale who just strolls in, drops a few thousand USD and becomes just as capable. Because you absolutely CAN do that now. The only thing that CCP needs to do to make their game more accessible to newbies is to actually make it a level playing field, something they have resisted at every turn. Making W2Z an actual part of the game is the only major concession I can think of. In every other respect, each move they’ve made has only further empowered the cheapest and most profitable activity for alphas - highsec ganking. We’re awash in ISboxser destroyer fleets now and reporting them seems to do nothing. Instead of making gameplay more balanced (remember “play your way”?) they cut their own throats by selling progression for a lump sum, insuring that players will have less attachment to the game and burn out faster. Their using unfair gameplay as an incentive to pay up-front for what used to require months or years of time and effort. We don’t really need EVE Echos because EVE itself is now a Korean mobile game. The minute that some gutsy developer finds the backing to create an EVE 2011 lookalike this game is finished. I’m frankly shocked that there isn’t something like this being crowdfunded already.

Social media is a shitshow. Why would they waste their time in here trying to justify XYZ for weeks on end? It would be purely a waste of time and probably just make things worse.

I checked yesterday and the price of Rets is rising. Enjoy!

Truly a sad time for this game. I really hoped this day would never come, but sort of pressed my fears down that it would.

CCP, this is crap. This is not the EVE that I want to play, and I have had no problem over years investing thousands of dollars in subs and PLEX, which I was fine with b/c it still took effort and work to accomplish things. The plex just helped skip some of the grind.

PLEX still requires economic participation in the game internally, and in the game mechanics.

However, to just skip everything all together and buy a ship? No need for a market, no need for minerals, no need for production, no need for an in-game economy. Just go ahead and trot out all the “future plans” so we can all quit and put the game out of its misery now.

A mining ship is not a titan yet, I get that. That excuse will not work because this opens the door all the way for that.

The irony of buying a mining ship that doesn’t actually participate in the economy that it is used to participate in…is palpable.

CCP.

This. Sucks.

Can we monetize these forums, too? Every time one of my posts gets sniped by Mystery Peen, I should get a pop up window offering me the option to delete the guy’s post for $1.99.

The closed player driven economy is the very thing that got me to start playing this game in 2008 and has gotten me to stay during most of that time. Left in Incarna and I left again for about 4 years due to personal reasons and just came back about a year ago. Otherwise I’ve been a continuous Omega level Eve player all that time.

And now it’s gone. They killed the only things that Eve Online had that made it truly unique. The economy and how everything was player driven not created by some corporate NPC. I’m done. Over the next month or so while my sub runs out I’ll be condensing all of my stuff into a handful of high sec home stations then cancelling my sub and leaving the game. I’m not sure when I will be back but it may very easily be never.

The absolute short sightedness and greed of CCP is just breathtakingly mindboggling.

Which EVE is not nor ever has been. It’s always been about degrees of independence from the devs but never truly independent. You folks really need to stop making this the hill to die on as it’s been a myth from day one.

There is truth to that.
I sometimes cynically think that the CSM is a human heat shield for CCPs hidden hand backers and their more nefarious purposes; but I have no proof of that and I’m not likely to find any.

I support the CSM with all its flaws because it is human, and it as a body genuinely cares about this bloody stupid manipulative hobby of mine.
