About me:
First, a quick background:
Started eve in 2019 as a mission runner and part-time explorer.
Daytripped to wormholes in my stratios until I finally moved in to wormhole space proper.
Quickly become skilled at small gang PVP in all regions of space (except pochven)
Learned how to FC
Flew in AT XXI (21)
Became an AT captain in AT XXII (22)
As a player who hasn’t been around since the olden days, I think I can lend a fresh perspective on what Eve is now, and what it could become.
My Experience:
I’ve touched most content this game has to offer, and believe I can provide great insights on behalf of my peers. I spend most of my time in wormhole space, as an FC in both brawls and nano content, with experience in most other parts of the game. I’ve done my share of station and region trading, I briefly lived in sov space focusing on industry, and I fly faction warfare on alts out there fighting for the rat (shout out MFA), and participated in Alliance Tournament 21 to then captain the Vapor-Lock team in Alliance Tournament 22.
I am very experienced:
Fleet Command
Ship Fitting
PVE Activities
Small gang PVP
Faction Warfare PVP
Corporation Management
Wormhole Living
My Ideas:
This game has so many cool things to offer that new players either don’t know exist or never get to see. I believe that with intentional game design, we can bring eve’s early-game and mid-game into a more guided experience, targeting better objectives to players who might feel lost about what to do next. I know it’s possible to learn without decades of experience because I’ve done it myself, going from new to PVP to AT captain in (relatively for some) short time.
Remember that phase where you’re living in highsec or lowsec, don’t know what to do next and burn out? That’s something that needs to be improved. I believe that eve is best positioned than ever before to make changes to this part of a new player’s progression within the game. A lot of this comes down to what people are driven to do in the game vs what people are pushed to do by the community. Eve online should be a game that encourages players to see everything it has to offer instead of over-relying on the community to do that heavy lifting.
With the introduction of freelance projects, modern event tracks, and military campaigns, it’s a better time than ever to improve the game progression experience. Imagine if eve had ongoing rolling events, pushing players to try new activities, discuss strategies with their communities and on reddit, and keeping the game feeling dynamic and alive. Imagine the Helldivers 2 Galactic war – Eve has the perfect opportunity to do something even cooler, where players can have an impact on story beats from anywhere in New Eden.
Why Should you care?
Most new players don’t leave highsec. Want more numbers for your N+1 Dread brawl? You’ve got to get people out to sov space. Want more players to recruit to your wormhole group, or just more people in wormhole space to fight and hunt? You’ve gotta get them into wormholes. Eve has a strong and interesting endgame, but sometimes lacks an equally strong mid-game to push players to want to be involved in endgame content.
I want new players to be able to naturally begin living in scarier regions of space, and smooth out that “take the plunge” experience that I, and many others, have had.
As a Wormholer:
Recently CSM 19/20 Member Mick Fightmaster and the Wormhole UN have done a fantastic job improving the game, and I want to continue the great work they’ve done supporting the J-space community. Wormholes are my home, and the j-space quality of life and clarity of information improvements have been incredible steps in the right direction. I believe that now is the best time ever to create opportunity for new players to branch out from highsec and lowsec, and to go explore the best of what eve’s mid-game and end-games have to offer. I’ve been a member of the legendary wormhole UN server since its inception, and love the opportunity that a formalized community forum brings for community collaboration.
I want to create more opportunity and motivation for players to explore wormhole space for the first time, and discover this hidden area of space. This will let those players experience what I believe to be the best area of the game, but also give everybody already here more chances to hunt, fight, teach, or collaborate, and keep wormholes exhilarating and alive.
