I get the idea of venting frustrations, but in this case, it’s not about me being “unhappy” or needing to “speak about my feelings.” It’s about pointing out bad design choices. Most of the 2003 players have already walked away. I’m just stubborn enough to still be here calling it like it is.
Whatever you want to call it, you are still not pointing them out.
Sorry I did not read all the posts. EVE classic will never work. The nitch player base that brought this game its fame is now long gone with no way to get it back.
Since 2009.
What is the current ‘‘state of the game’’? I have my frustrations with some things CCP has done, but it hasn’t stopped me from playing, so I guess I am not that dissatisfied.
I wish more of us could feel that way.
He’s not a 2003 player.
Just a 2025 wannabe.
Have you ever asked yourselves which version you would consider the classic one? The one from the beginning in 2003? Or the one from when your character was born, because you grew up with that version?
There will probably be many different opinions on this question
EVE has become a lot better over the years, in many many aspects.
The only thing CCP needs to realize is that too much power in too few hands and the the ability to project that power effortless and convenient on inferior groups leads to stagnation and ultimately to a lot of players leaving it. EVE simply lacks mechanics that make sure that the more you grow, the harder it becomes to keep your empire together, protect all your borders and manage all your assets.
The original devs understood this, thats why EVE had many intentionally limiting rules implemented. They kept the balance between smaller/newer but more flexible and mobile groups vs the big blob alliances. Both could coexist, both had their content in which the other could hardly interfere.
The new age Devs don’t understand that simple principle. Unfortunately.
The only reason they started the WoW Classic b.s. was to eliminate all the private pirate servers of the vanilla version. With such a small audience, I would be amazed, if pirate servers of Eve Online even existed, let alone carried any serious population.
I looked up some early game play from 15 years ago.
You want to downgrade to this?
Have fun!
Pretty much the most important thing, and you won’t get everyone to agree
They exist, or rather have existed, they were mostly pointless
I don’t think they can do a “classic”.
Player numbers are already low and humans behind the accounts are even lower in number.
Plus CCP is a very small company.
Eve before Jump fatigue, Cheers thanks.
It’s not really worth debating because there is a 0% chance that they will ever do anything to bifurcate the western player population. They don’t even run Singularity fulltime anymore.
There’s no patch they could roll back to that would magically get us back to 50-60K PCU, and the only thing you would end up with is two servers with unsustainably low player pops.
Riiight…and then there is EVE Fontier and EVE Echoes…
Do you feel like either of those games are something the average Eve Online player is interested in playing or, in particular, would stop playing EveO to play instead?
I’m sure plenty of Eve O players have tried them, I’d be shocked if ten of them left EveO for them, combined.
2003 please.
