I had left for a few years and recently started playing again and hate what they did to this game from when I left. Really hate how they redistributed the ores the way they did and much more. Be canceling subscription and I do not plan on coming back. Eve Online years ago was far more fun to play then what it is now!!!
I started more recently but I can see what you mean the way ore is distributed feel strangely deliberate like been design to push players certain regions or mechanics rather than lett universe breathe naturaly donât come across organic evolution of game world more like a business decision dressed as gameplay change It kinds of break illusion of freedom EVE suposed to have right right when you move around annd notice how access to ores is intentionaly restrict aad made inconvenient itâs hard not to feel like it want players into spend more time more effort more money just to do what used to feel simple and rewarding t is a shame because game universe is still beautiful aand the core idea of hame remain brilliant but the way things structured now give off sense that development take back seat to monetisation strategy tha not the kind of motivation that keeps sandbox alive.
What are the chances you actually have 5+ accounts and youâre not cancelling anything because youâre addicted AF. And youâre just trying toâŚ. influence CCP into giving you moar.
Unlike the few games that had successful âclassicâ restarts, EVE requires more than a handful other players on the server to have a functioning game.
Where a RuneScape is more of a single player game with a chat function or World of Warcraft requires 5 people in your party or a few dozen for a raid for itâs mainly PvE-centric gameplay, EVE requires a few thousands of players to make the universe, corporate intrigues, massive fleet battles and itâs player-ran economy feel alive.
This means that an âEVE classicâ server is unlikely to succeed unless it draws enough players.
Unlike people who have all heard about World of Warcraft and wish to relive the magic of classic WoW that they never experienced, EVE online isnât known that much that people outside (ex-)EVE players would be drawn to such an EVE version. In other words, the EVE classic server would draw mainly upon current EVE players and cannibalize the existing server.
As result the main game loses players and becomes less fun to play.
And that is if EVE classic draws people in for long enough.
Likely it wouldnât and it quickly is just a dead server where some PvE players can finally live the dream of doing missions undisturbed by other players, paid for by subcriptions of people who now suffer from an emptier main server.
No, I hope we wonât see an EVE classic.
And even if it gained enough players, its just going to be the same patches we already mastered from the past, we will already know exactly how everything is going to play out so we will always be in the best position to exploit the changes that get re-released
Exponentially!
Simple solution:
- delay Cynos so hotdrops are as slow as 15 years ago
- redesign Citadels mechanics so they work much more like POSes did
- make multiboxing significantly less efficient
And voilĂĄ, you have back a gameplay experience that is as enjoyable as 15 years ago. Thank me later!
As usual, you missed the point. Your biggest problem is that you already have an answer for everything. You donât listen and youâre certainly not open to differing opinions.
My grandfather had a saying that fits you perfectly: âThe only thing worse than someone who knows everything is someone who thinks they know everything.â
Now go rally your little troll pen to get this post hidden before too many people see it.
Iâd rather say you are the one who is trolling, because i see a very long justification with points speaking against it, a comparison to other games and possible effects on EVE Online in the post of Gerard_Amatin that leads to the conclusion which you took out of context.
And if indeed the point was missed in your opinion, i donât see what said point should be nor a discussion of it.
So if you donât start discussing the points that Gerard_Amatin has pointed out, then indeed your post is worthy to be trollmarked.
Youâre trying to overcomplicate it. EVE was better before. Thatâs the version the OP misses and believes would outperform its current iteration. I agree, the game has become unrecognizable and nearly unplayable. CCP has been listening to the wrong voices.
What was better? What is it you are trying to recapture? As someone who has played since 2008, I can still do everything that you could do back then.
During the ââclassicââ EVE days â did people use to make so many forum alts to roleplay the forums this much? Cause I gotta say â youâre not as stealthy as you think.
zero chance
Almost everything, except the graphics.
So less ships, less things to do, POS sov warfare, less ISK in High sec, and more lag? Yeah, no thank you.
I donât know about that. The game is played the same way. It is not like in WoW where they completely overhauled and simplified the class skill trees with later expansions. In EVE this didnât happen, just some numbers here and there to various guns/ships/other modules. There was a lot of new âequipmentâ too like new ships that we can use and their weapon platforms, citadels and their modules.
Nah, the game wasnât better. It maybe felt better because it was new for you and you were exploring the world and learning the mechanics and getting better. That however wonât repeat in any âclassicâ version of the game even if they did it.
It is just nonsense because even if they do that it just splits player base of already almost dead game into half basically killing it because the game needs certain amount of players to make it worthwhile for PvP crows to enjoy it. And if they donât because there are no targets anymore they leave and within few years both servers die like EVE Echoes did.
You can bet that even if CCP ever did make a ââclassicââ EVE server, those advocating for it now would flood the forum with complaints about how itâs not good enough; how it lacks x, y, and z; and how itâs not how they âârememberââ it at all.
May I ask how long youâve been playing?
Are you happy with the current state of the game?
I started in 2016 before they made alpha clones.
Generally speaking I am. I dislike a lot of things about this game, but running some âclassicâ version wonât solve those things, in fact it makes the worse (number of bugs this game has - it is something that no other MMO can compete).
You should speak about what makes you unhappy and what changes makes you feel this way and not just a general everything, as if that was the case then you would not like classic either.
