Any CSM candidates worth voting for?

I’d vote for anyone who does PvP and isn’t associated with a nullbloc.

Since every candidate in the csm is voted into by the big blocs this election is(and was ever) pointless from the start. There HAVE to be candidates that are truly independent, but those simply do not exist. Those who claim to be are just strawmen of the same big blocs they say they have no connections to.

So you see…this is no ‘election’…it’s a declaration of candidates chosen long before the ‘election’. And they actually DO the job they are selected for…they only vote for and demand decisions that benefit ONLY the null blocs.

Other(really independent) candidates have no chance because of the numbers and organisation of the big blocs…

This ‘election’ is a fraud…and ever was since the first one…

I’m honestly not aware of a single candidate worth voting for.

The Wormhole guys are not really associated to Nullblocks and do PvP as their main activity. Mostly small- to medium size engagements.

Are they able to log into the forums?

Kshal is not null bloc neither is mike azariah

LOL…you mention the exakt examples for ‘strawmen’ i was talking about…

Yeah, Mick Fightmaster and Sean Vanstroll both have CSM Topics here where they answer questions.

Anyone else?

I think Drake Iddon, Dujek Oneye, and 0BAKEE are the only ones explicitly in favour of ganking. Jay Cee Ormand and Kshal Aideron are the ones you want to very much avoid, Jay Cee in particular is running on a platform of both “highsec ore needs to be much more valuable” and “no more ganking ever”, which even kindergarten economics tells you is ridiculous.

I’m back to ‘why-bother’ mindset with the CSM. It’s a mouthpiece for nullblocs and that won’t change until Fenris explicitly prohibits voter manipulation in the game. Until that day comes, there’s little reason to vote, unless your interests align with some of those of nullblocs’.

That being said: you should vote for your preferred candidates.

If it is pointless you should not vote at all…That too is a statement vote…

I keep seeing the accusations of ‘family voting’, but that issue only occurs because most people have never heard of most of the candidates. So when the alliance says ’ Vote for XYZ’, that makes it easier to be swayed.

In the past I’ve voted for people I’ve actually heard of…Mike Azariah and Brisc Rubal…both of whom I’ve seen in videos countless times. Everyone else is just a name on a ballot box accompanied by some ’ Vote for me and I’ll make beer free’ splurge. Its really not hard to see why, in a list of candidates most have never heard of…people end up voting for whoever the alliance suggests.

Back when I cared I thought that the players would be better represented if CCP performed indeep interviews with players randomly picked by demographic cohorts (in-game age, average playing time, location, activities, et cetera) than this PR stunt that seriously outlived its usability.

But then I stopped caring and I’m posting here just to float the idea of lottocracy as a necessary complement to democracy since self selected representatives appointed by self selected voters have representativeness issues of which the CSM charade is a blatant case. When your organ only represents the few who voted for the even fewer who wanted to be voted you’re blind to whatever want or need the silent ones and yet you depend on their money and opinions and thus their reactions when your actions impact them.

In the ancient Greece there was something like that. Not appointment by lottery per se, but citizens had a duty to sit in the governing bodies for a set period of time whether they wanted to do it or not. US jury duty is also something like what you propose.

I think it would be interesting. Definitely more interesting than ‘‘career politics’’ we’re seeing right now.

With all that I will vote for Mike. But he’ll be the only candidate getting my vote this year.

Well if you really think that ‘ever heard of the name of someone’ proves that he is no strawmen then everything must be alright? Well…nope it is not…
