Any Official Limits on Exordium Yet?

I was not telling you to stop sabotaging new players, I was simply explaining that that is what you’re doing.

Sabotage away; it is a PvP game.

Robbing new players of their first sense of accomplishment and manipulating those new players to stay in the least interesting area of the game well past the couple of tutorial missions they have to do there by handing them out barges is evil.

But in a game where people post scams in chat, destroy and loot your ship if you make a mistake or mass recruit newbies to then ask for donations, I guess it fits.

It’s just one more of the hazards a new player needs to overcome!

Is Exordium the new Bonus Room? :eyes:

Most “asteroid belts” in Exordium are “Managed” (gated) ore site. Only Ventures and corvettes can enter. The rocks are “big”, tens and tens of 100k-200k units rocks. And there are 2 per system it seems.

The few ungated ore anomalies also have 0-Grade ore worth a few ISK per unit. An Orca pilot just look foolish. Unless maybe it’s someone trying the Orca for the first time (like the abyss, you would practice a new fit in lower tier before going up). I guess. I’ve seen mostly Pioneers in those site though, precisely because they cannot use the gate at Managed sites.

Overall, the rookies have more asteroid than they need to complete their dailies, at any time of the day, and collect some minerals for small scale manufacturing. And vets will never gain any interesting ISK trying to mine the 0-Grade ore in the scarce ungated ore site.

Compared to Trossere for example, one of the old career system which have only 1 asteroid belt that could be empty a few hours after DT because barges/exhumers/orcas would wipe it off.

I think the mining in Exordium is just fine.

All “felt reality” without actual numbers.

So please calculate the actual income of a miner in let’s say a 0.9 belt vs. an Exordium belt with the same character and ship for 1 hour.

Then the amount mined in Exordium refined there vs. refined outside, because vets won’t have any problems moving the stuff out for refining, so they will not experience that loss.

Why should a Veteran mine in the 0.9 belt nearby? A veteran who knows what he is doing will of course go after the best income options in HS and not intentionally pick the worst, just to compare it with the even worse numbers of Exordium.

I wrote “let’s say” …a suggested start for a comparison, not necessarily the required starting point, but one that would make sense to me as it is just the direct next step from 1.0 → 0.9.

One can of course add many different other datapoints in many other locations as well to make a point or show something. Even non-static belts, moon mining and whatnot.
However a restriction to the ore variants of Exordium would be also very good for a direct comparison.

It is just that the discussion should have a data driven foundation if possible.

Yeah sure, but then compare realistic data points. If you compare the “best case scenario for Exordium” (meaning a character mining 0 Grade Veldspar probably), then you need to compare against the “best case scenario for regular HS” - because that is the opportunity someone has who leaves Exordium.
A Veteran jumping out of Exordium and go mining in a 0.9 HS would just be pretty stupid and it doesn’t help using stupid decisions as examples to collect Data Points.

You like beating around the bush it seems and still discuss how “the” datapoint should be chosen.

No one limits you to one datapoint and it also doesn’t need to be chosen that carefully enough. I already wrote that “many different other datapoints” can be added into the comparison for a good overview.

Everyone has their own reason to mine somewhere. It happens all over the place, without a regard for what you consider a good or a bad spot. I heard some veterans even mine in Exordium now, just for the sake of it.

I have to confess this was my suggestion for EVE best xpac ever made. But I kept silent because I was contemplating why FC never used that resource.

Seems like they decided to experiment. Gated asteroid belts is very empire space oriented.

I also understood in the context the OP is not planning to do any shenanigans, maybe he/she is planning a mining OP with the newbies and is afraid of being punished… At the same time, I think such operations are a better fit for HS, too much babysitting makes people weak.

But asking such things in EVE forum leads to the worst expectations, I cannot blame people.

I really think you all should leave Exordium alone, it’s already easy enough, you only going to model newbies to your standards, which may be good but also bad.

All new players today are being dumped into Exordium, which is just dumb ,in my opinion. I don’t “rob” the NPE, personally I don’t think the NPE exists. Most of your newbros and newhos watch a commercial about this game, which gives them a false impression right from the start. After spending the time downloading the game, let’s assume they pay for 1 month omega before leaving the hangar, the first hurdle is the user interface. Then after a few hours of asking stuff in rookie chat, they notice the ISK in their wallet is maybe a few thousand. Everyone in rookie chat laughs or calls them a begger when they ask the question; How do I make ISK? or Can someone loan me some ISK?

I don’t recruit, I help them, not by giving them a fish, I teach them how to fish. Here is the guide I set for the few people I do have working under me;

  • Don’t throw away the fully fitted Ventures and Pioneers, make sure they need them first.
  • Offer the mining program, don’t demand it.
  • If they say they have a Venture, then offer the Pioneer.
  • Once they complete the first mining exersize, gift them a Tayra or Miasmos.

At each level of our educational program, the student is given more ships and/or equipment. Completion of the first level has them well underway of understanding mining terminology and making there own ISK. Level 1 is basic high sec mining, level 2 we take them into low sec and set up a HQ at one of the NPC stations. Very few return for level 3, wormhole mining, and yes BRUCE alpha miners know how to do it solo.

There are only 2 more levels and nobody – to my knowledge – has returned to ask for more courses. Level 4 we take them to Pochven and Level 5 is Null.

All the gear is not donations, we don’t take donations. Mike is the only player who gave me stuff, it was my understanding, he doesn’t deal in ventures. Mike gives away frigrates and other fighting craft geared toward PvP. I and those in BRUCE, pay for it with ISK made 100% by alpha mining.

Now tell me again what a terrible person I am.

Mine safe :pick:

If you think it’s stupid, get people out, not keep them in.

I returned there because of some juicy hauling contracts, and man… I feel the zone is just good for parading AT ships XD I can’t complain as hauling these high collaterals is damn good money, but I could not imagine more mundane thing that mining there… Even stupid courrier missions are 6 jumps with insane au distances so they take forever, and pay nothing. With mining it’s the same, not just the grade of what you find, but speed you can turn it over.

There’s really no need to invent a whole program just to justify whatever you do in exordium. The rules are vague, but as said, pretty much straightforward. You would not run in trouble because you gave out ships to couple alpha newbros and mine for 5 hours with them. If you multibox a 100+ toon fleet there, that would be different (I really wonder if it would even pay for plex tho lol, the yield is so bad XD) …

What dd I just say? Are you reading my post, just skimming, or has reading more the 140 characters just become too difficult?

I am not “keeping players” in Exordium, FC is the people who thought it was a neat idea to have a zero hostility zone, not me. I was helping people ( again had you bothered to read this ) from Tsuguwa former location of my Astrahus. Now if you want to interact, help, or recruit new players, well then, you best have a person over in the Exordium region. I am not in there for recruits, I am helping them stay and enjoy the game.

Mike and I, perhaps a few others, know getting started in EVE is the major malfeasance. Players quickly quit the game, without proper motivation and assistance. How do I know this? Pay attention, and you might figure it out.

This reminds me, I am going to break my one rule I’ve had since starting here in EVE. This month I plan to vote for @Mike_Azariah for CSM. To do this, I will buy omega for the one month. I hope other omega players will vote for him too. Voting starts this October 22nd, think with your head and vote with your heart.

Mine safe :pick:

Are we sure they necessarily need someone to interact with, help, or recruit them while they’re still in the tutorial area? Might it not be okay, and perhaps even preferable, for them to just get tutorialized and then leave the tutorial area?

Are you serious or just trolling my thread?? I am real sure people enter massive multiplayer online games, just to play with themselves. You have fun playing with yourself, I am assuming you don’t need partners.

Milhouse Simpsons Playing Frisbee Alone
I see Namdor is playing with himself again.

I don’t play alone, and no one should.

Mine safe :pick:

Wait, tis was just a random CSM campaign outside csm subforum or what? Who tf is Mike and why is he even relevant enough to be referenced/tagged in this “I do handouts in exordium and whant to know how much is too much” discussion? XD

Mike is just zis guy, you know?

He’s most famous for doing handouts of free ships in newb systems, he started this before Exordium was a thing.

There are other new players in the tutorial zone with them, so they’re not playing alone even if an older player never shows up with a free ship and bad advice to “help” them.

I understand now, I can only wish you my heart felt sympathies.

Mine safe :pick:

It is definitaly or Whatever. Threads do that in forums. It is my thread, not Mike’s thread. I have the right to support Mike, but apparently even, if I buy omega for cash today, I still cannot cast vote. Even if I bought more than 1 month plex or cash, I still cannot vote. I found out last night, there is a 60 day prior to the CSM election policy. Way to go Fenris, way to go! They could be scooping up people like me left and right who swore off omega at the start. I suppose it makes weird sense, they are afraid some rich player will buy thousands to win a seat in the election. I will applaud Fenris Creations for not getting greedy in CSM politics.

Back on to my topic, I got my initial answer here. No set limits because, I will know it, when I see it. Thanks for all the advice! Please note, I will be ignoring this thread, setting it from tracking to normal. But Namdor can play here all by himself now.

Mine safe everyone :pick:
