Any theories on why so many people have quit over the last 2 years?

EVE was to me at its greatest when I could drive a scorpion solo in 0.0 and jam the f out of a small gang and survive. Scorpion was a ship to be feared. Or when I could drive a Tempest and one shot cruisers with artillery. Or, when I drove a Armageddon without a tank because all the heat sinks turned it into a real gankageddon. Those days are gone. Today you jump into a system and the gate is bubbled, camped by so many different ship types that a single ship doesn’t really stand out anymore. I dont know man, I think a lot of the content CCP eventually added finally killed what made the game great for me to begin with.

Player owned structures and caps were a great idea, but the end result just created superblobs. Theres too much money and too much “stuff” in EVE. New Eden feels too small.

Players adapt, the game designers refine the game in an attempt to obtain balance. That was never going to last.

There should be no WTFOWN-mobiles.

There should be no WTFOWN-mobiles.

Too bad, they were FUN and they added flavor.

No, they don’t. They devolve into “everyone has to fly this” much like with nano-hacs.

Unfortunately this game is no longer a “sandbox”, new content killing it softly.

Speaking of hacs, no one flies them anymore. New content kills old content. Sad.

Exactly what are you fighting for now in Nullsec and Wormholes? Space?

You sure as hell aren’t fighting for stuff since their stuff now magically moves on its own to a new location.

So your fighting for “space”, which is fairly meaningless unless you own the corp. Where most corps are in alliances and most alliances let all the corps roam ALL their space having just a little more space is meaningless.

So you want people to join all these toxic corps so they can be forced into warfare where the only actual payoff is whatever the corp decides it is, since you wont be looting most the big fights and well structures drop nothing.

Is that realistic to you? Does that encourage gameplay? Being able to take over or destroying stations the size of citys and they drop nothing. Oh gee I wonder why no one is encouraged to do this.

EvE has many problems, but none bigger than the devs who think that making it a cluster barney hug as the worst. I can literally find more risk in Albion and its horrible compared to EvE, but at least they had enough common sense to make a loss a loss and not a loss a save.

Keep telling yourself you are “hard” for playing EvE, but that’s a complete lie now, all the hard is gone and only the carebear is left, have at it, its all yours.

Well why would you want to when a T3 can do it better. That is the problem, various changes made by CCP have made certain ships and ship categories much less useful.

I certainly haven’t read every single post, but if i take what i’ve gathered and let it run through my brain, then i get this: (so far :stuck_out_tongue: )

  • highsec interactions are at an all time low
  • wardecs are an exclusive form of content
  • in highsec, the lack of “antagonists” makes the game generic
  • the culture of old times is fading away
  • responsibility for new player retention has shifted away from old players, towards CCP
  • consumers are the new meta
  • the actual roleplayers are getting shafted
  • lowsec is the only space working well, so they only rarely dare touching it **
  • farmers hurt the game and favour isolation
  • freedom of speech, on this platform, is a cancer.

** lowsec is worth a whole post, but that’d bomb my schedule.

We need more dungeons of various difficulties in a safe instance where we can’t be attacked. And we need more raid type content that drops epic gear. Also, we need a legendary module quest that we can earn over the course of an expansion or two.

We also need a PVE leaderboard for those who clear the dungeons on the hardest difficulty in the least amount of time.

So basically cause it needs new PVE content.

aaahhh, the power of sarcasm…

The development focus/direction of CCP is AWFUL.

This winter expansion is the most gigantic waste of development time I have seen in a very long time.

Foward operating bases? I was at that Stain Keepstar fight a few days ago, 3 different entities had astrahauses on grid, seems like we already have FoB. New Engineering citadels instead of POS’s? how is that going to get ANYONE interested in the game, its just more space trash ill have to scan when looking for stuff to shoot.

So CCP updated the NPC AI with those belt rat groups, great, that was a year ago, is any of that work going to get translated into Missions/Combat Sites? With the PvE experience being INSANELY boring and unchallenging, and the rising cost of buying/fitting ships, the amount of ISK you make doing any kind of PvE is pathetic AND boring af.

Most people I know just spend $$ on PLEX, not for game time, but actual in-game currency. This is a combination of ease, and a desire to avoid the AWFUL PvE experience. Less people in space trying to make ISK means less conflict, means less PvP hunters, means less PvP players in general.

T.L.D.R Get People into Space, period. Make PvE dynamic, challenging, AND rewarding, stop letting players take the easy way out just spending cash for in-game currency, and STOP releasing these structure focused expansions. Just like the trailer for their expansion, its a ■■■■■■■ structure sitting there in space, its the LEAST engaging thing possible.

Bottom Line: Give players an ACTUAL reason to undock their ship, and get into space.

They tried that with wormholes. They tried 2/3 with burners and incursions (challenging and rewarding, not so dynamic).

The problem you run into with “hard” PvE is most people won’t bother to work it out. Most of them will just read-guide-follow-instructions, because that’s how most people “learn” to do scripted content in any game these days anyway. The other problem of making things unpredictable is you’ll end up with “just omni tank” kinds of fits, or stuff so hard and unpredictable nobody will bother running it without scouting it/dying to it with an alt in a frigate first so they can just see what they’re up against before committing deadspace mods and faction battleships to it.

I said it before, say it again. I’d play much more if I had access to all my full SP and that training was tied to PLEX/sub or injectors.

This wouldn’t end well for CCP. There are a lot of chars/accounts out there that have “finished” training and I wouldn’t be surprised if this would cost CCP somewhere between 20 and 40% of subscriptions.

Nobody cares how much you play if you don’t support the game.

I care.

And btw just by being in game is supporting the game, people are the content. how/if they pay is a secondary concern.
