Any theories on why so many people have quit over the last 2 years?

that’s an incorrect blanket statement. vOv people aren’t equal.

There is a current war between the SJW and the HTFU crowds and CCP keeps flipflopping back and forth on which side to be on.

Simple as that.

Testing the game is not supporting the game (except for the chance you might sub one day), it is deciding if you want to support or not. I’d suggest that merely by making a free Alpha Clone and logging it in does not mean i am supporting the game, it just means i’m using server power. I put it to you that if you don’t pay any money to CCP, you must provide content (remember logging in is not content) in some way shape or form. The content should also be useful content. I do not accept that someone solo mining to level up their mining ship is supporting the game, unless they do something to keep others logging in. Your point is that the person merely logging in a free account is supporting the game because the game needs players to be fun. Maybe the miner is providing content because he provides a target for gankers or feeds the mineral market, but this is content that would be provided by countless others in his abscence. I put it to you that there is a difference between supporting the game and logging in an alpha account, and that the difference is how much unique content you personally are providing others.

TL:DR - I think only some free users are actually supporting the game, while the rest assume that merely logging in is enough to keep CCP going. I think both views have some merit since Alpha clones collectively swell numbers, but i think it’s important to define what is actually relevent and useful support before handing out cookies. Like the backing actor in a war movie making the same 3 movements for hours of filming is technically supporting the film and will be in the credits, but if he wasn’t there nobody would notice or care because he’s one of 800 guys all doing the same thing.

Note that i have no issue with people playing EvE for free, just the one’s who think they are being short changed anyway.

If @Caleb_Seremshur had all his SP and only had to pay for training, he would train what he wants to use and never give CCP another dime after that. That’s a business model that would kill the company or force it to go full micro-transaction (kill the game)…

even on a simple level - having someone else in the belt, chatting in local channel etc, helps make the world feel alive. Being in the same starting system as other people, it effects other starters for example.

Eve needs bodies, how long they stay, how they pay, if they contribute as much as other players doesn’t matter. Eve will have drop off point where the current size of the world is to big for the player base.

SinceI don’t know any of them could you please tell what kind of content did they created?

I did propose that a long time ago - focus on AI of NPC’s actions while missioning. There are well known of their boredom missions and missions farmers. Why not to change the screenplay of every mission where you don’t know exactly what faction you going to deal with and what are the trigger is, so reduce number of silly farmers of isk/lp, while you on the mission the situation could change next moment etc. etc.

You missed out the end of my sentence. Here i’ll provide the entire sentence again :

there’s always the inconsiderate arguments that more is better, no matter what, completely ignoring that quality matters. it’s understandable, i guess, because when someone lacks it, they’re unaware that it’s needed.

Quality is bovine fecal matter when all your customers pay exactly the same. CCP is a business, not an eugenics project…

and my point is just by being there they are helping to do just that.

edit: bleh need to learn how to quote people

Proving my point completely. Cheers.

oh and it is eugenics, if you want to abuse that word this way. CCP chooses to cater to some groups, and slowly drives out others. has been the case since forever. your hypocritical wpplication of “we’re all equal” is pure nonsense and leads nowhere, simply because we’re not equal at all. there’s a foodchain, and you’re at the very bottom of it.

As Shrek said…

:sunglasses:

Oh yes. The incapable people, who lack arguments, blindly assume everyone clicks their links. If you lack the words, and the quality to produce them in a manner that’s above your current “bar”, then you’ll end up where you are now:

the bottom of the foodchain, throwing sissy fits behind the safety of CONCORD, the insides of a station or the forums.

“A city made of dreams is built in heaven”. In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

So shouldn’t EVE Online be a place of freedom and liberty for all?

I pledge allegiance to Caldari and the State for which it stands; run by eight megacorporations; with strength, persistence, and dignity for all.

Frankly, you should consider why you think that your hobby makes you better than other people.

it has nothing to do with the hobby, and all to do with the qualities of the people playing i5.

i guess, because when someone lacks it, they’re unaware that it’s needed.

you just keep underlining this, so for your own good i suggest you just stop?

it’s actually bigger than that, but it’s definitely a part of it.

btw, you’re a goon? a SA goon, or a “modern” goon?

And you still think that a hobby proves that you have better qualities than other people, that is, your hobby makes you superior to other people. Which is what I was saying, and which is compensating for something.

People either are superior or claim to be superior… and both are mutually exclusive.

I don’t even know what I am. I’m more like a Care-bear riding My Little Pony around the space station than a gewn. Even if that means a wrecking or podding once in a while to keep us on our toes.
