Any theories on why so many people have quit over the last 2 years?

In other words, things you have whined about for years.
Yet here you still are.

Like you have ranted against players discussing game changes against your interests for years.

No, EVE is still dying! For 13 years in a row!

Like I said, you’re hopeless. You can’t understand the difference between defending something and hating it.

Like I said, I’m sorry you can’t understand, but that’s a personal failing on your part. One you would have to want to fix if it were to be fix.

There is no way for you to claim your posting over the years on changes does not constitute whining.

I understand YOU dont think it is, but it is.

Call it what you like, it’s a free forum. But as usual you are wrong.

Of the two of us, I’m the one who likes EVE. I like what EVE is and has been, I like that it attracts a rougher crowd than your typical theme park mmo. I think changing it in the (silly and vain) hope of attracting people who aren’t attracted to open world sandbox games to it is beyond stupid.

And frankly, your game ideas suck, and where I come from it’s best to be open and direct about such things. Sorry if this offends you, but the things you want changed would be disasters if CCP ever listened to you.

Classic Jenn, just because people have issues with certain mechanics or changes made then they hate Eve in total, that is called projecting and you are doing it.

What I like about Eve is the toxic part, because I liked to test myself against them by playing smart, which is why I was belt ratting in Stain in contested systems for content while people like you were saying 20m an hour you are doing it wrong, it is also why for fun I got in the way of gankers in hisec because it cost them more effort and made them work harder, extra DPS etc. I also saw that they had free reign on the forums so I decided for a laugh to oppose their posting, and it has been quite amusing to say the least, but to you I hate the game.

However I also recognise when the mechanics or changes make it so easy it is not worth doing, such as when the catalysts ended up with almost 700 DPS and the mining ships were at that point badly balanced. You complained about people complaining about a balance change and said they were complaining against the game, your point is seriously dumb mate and you are too up yourself to even see it as per normal.

PS There are a number of areas I do agree with you, but if you could be a bit less strident it would be better…

The game is actually developing well in a number of areas, however like many old players I now only do activity which suits me, so I do PI to pay for my ships and I do alliance CTA’s and that is it, the rest of the time I play other games, yesterday I ratted for the first time in two months, only did two sites then went and played another game. But I sub two accounts with RL money to do that and I am fine with it

So for me Eve is a long term game and I now just do the bits that are easy and what I like doing, people have to find the right balance to get the most out of Eve and I think that is the issue with Eve above anything else, many of the player base are not really engaged enough… and I include myself in that number!

This is funny.

You are more or less the epitomy of a “bitter vet”.
Your post history over years is a ceaseless diatribe of whining about changes CCP has made to the game. Yet, here you still are, playing it.

You misrepresent my own input. I look for workable, creative solutions to the games/populations issues in hopes of finding some middle ground so that CCP has options rather than its usual heavy-handed approach to changes. Furthermore, my observations of changes have been largely accurate, pre and post.

Your position, however, has consistently been that of a Luddite that instead of discussing changes/issues constructively, just wants everything to “be as it was in the golden days”, whatever that was, and call anyone attempting to resolve issues as “idealists” or pandering to a changing game market. I remember when you had your “Malcani’s Rule” stage.

Teckos has his “cant predict emergent order” thing.
I have my “lets rationally explore options” thing.
You have your “Stop changing EVE” thing.

Don’t get me wrong. You can whine from the sidelines all you want. But you can choose either to be part of the solution, or just complain. You seem to always choose the latter. If anything, its clear your position isnt working, since change has, and will continue to occur.

You are not part of any solution. You are a customer, like everyone else. You have had ZERO impact on anything. Hellfire and Damnation, I’ve yet to see you even participate in a CCP discord or teamspeak townhall.

Irrational ‘pie in the sky’ idealists love to call people with common sense ‘luddites’. Fact is, you are just projecting here, almost everything you post is some kind of “EVE needs to change” ■■■■■■■■, and people who want to change everything they experience are people who don’t like the thing they are experiencing. Your dislike of everything from low sec cynos to God knows what else is a personal issue, not something CCP needs to change every 5 minutes.

I came to EVE to play EVE, not WoW, and i’ll defend what EVE is till the servers shut down.

Saw that coming a mile away.
Im not an idealist (aside from believing in EVEs xore values).
Im extremely pragmatic.

Hows the whining been working for you?
Seems to me just about everything you whine against, has occured nonetheless, more often than not pretty much along the lines of what I had myself thought would be the format.

You cant stop change. All you can hope to do, is channel that river down a better path.
Whining wont do that. Only constructively building that alternative channel will.

Add delusional to the list then.

And you are not “pragmatic”, Pragmatic people display at least some understanding of how people behave. Look at all the people who shoot down your ideas almost as soon as you post them. This is because those ideas are stupid.

I will never understand you ‘change everything’ Utopians. It’s like you never heard the words ‘unintended consequences’ before.

Again, a gross misrepresentation.

Only idealists speak in absolutes, which it seems you do.

Its not about changing “everything”.
Its about informing impending change and encouraging it down the right path.
Your whining, demonstrably, has been unsuccessful at that.

You are not doing this. You are talking on a forum while failing to participate in anything that might actually do some good. Again, I have yet to see YOU at any townhall.

Of course you aren’t alone, I read daily whines about PVE (for example) and saw exactly zero of those whiners and the last PVE townhall hosted by Jin’taan in September. This is because you types are like the very opinionated political idealists who can spend all day debating people on Facebook but can’t bother to actually go out and vote…

This is an incredibly weak argument:
A) These forums are a platform for discussing these issues.
B) Its clear your own participation, whatever it might have been, in Townhalls or what not, has not led to the results you wish for. Or else you wouldnt be whining constantly here.
C) If you have the means/time to expend attending these events, good for you. I have other matters to attend to.
D) Im sure you are very proud of your attendance to these events. Im sure you think yourself a VIP there, and having great weight on the future of EVE. But results seem to speak otherwise.

I’m not making an argument, I’m pointing out your impotence and delusional nature. Not that I need to, everyone here know it.

These forums are a useless talking shop. Nothing said here matters in the least, and everyone else knows this.

And lol at that edit. You have the ‘means and time’ to talk ■■■■ on a forum but not enough to actually participate in a meaningful way. It’s not uncommon to find someone who has enough time to pontificate on everything but not enough time to actually do anything. It means you don’t actually care about this stuff, you just want people to think you are smart.

The ‘means’ are teamspeak or discord, yea I know that’s so so hard to do.

And yet here you are, daily, whining.

As to your attendance to those events, its pretty clear you havent done “much good” there, as you are still upset with the results and still whining about them.

I think, like a typical political pundit, you overestimate your own influence.
You think cos you are at the rallies etc, that you matter more than those that are not.
Yet if all you do there, is whine instead of offering solutions, as you do here, Im not surprised youve had little to no success on influencing the future of EVE.

Ill make a point of attending the next event, if for nothing else then to hear what form exactly your participation/input takes, and to negate this ridiculous attempt to discredit me for not having attended.

PS: Here, let me give you these brownie points for being such a dedicated attendee at events. This surely makes you a ViP and better than those of us that have not. Im sure your mamma is very proud. Maybe wearing that same unwashed, frayed EVE t-shirt from 2010 to each voice event sat at home will eventually turn out lucky!

I wonder if the ‘eve is dying’ meme is the oldest eve meme, and if eve is the longest surviving mmo (not including community run servers and whatnot), it may just be the oldest mmo meme, in the history of the internet.

Ultima Online just turned 20 years old last September and the latest update is Publish 98.2 from October 16th. So it’s alive, and certainly EVE Online is not the oldest MMO by a good stretch.

PS: Ultima Online is a PvE MMO at this point. PvP is long gone.

Probably the oldest eve meme then

Though some might say UO died when it became PVE?

In PVE only games where is the multi-player bit? I suppose everyone wins?

One summer, no one will post an eve is dying thread blaming its demise on its supposedly harsh environment, at that point I will worry.

I would have guessed the oldest EVE meme would have been: Soon ™

…or would that be CCP’s guiding principle?

LOL! It is actually funny all the stupid assumptions you are making.

Instead of getting butt-mad and attacking others when someone criticizes the obviously shitty aspects of your favorite game, try thinking before you post.

Irrational, knee-jerk defenders like you are part of the problem. Someone as childish as you has no business telling anyone “what an adult would do”.

Truth hurts?

Deal with it.
