hu ? Why did you feel it was bad ?
Here is what I remind of this event :
General settings
One site appeared per constellation. The position of the site in the system changed at downtime but not the system.
The four pockets are non-deadspace so you can freely warp in them. That means, you can create bookmark in it and bypass the hub to warp directly to the place you want inside the pocket, from insidee a pocket or anywhere else in the system. The pockets besides the hub contain warpable items that allow for fast repositioning.
The three âcontentâ pocket are surrounded by an abyssal-style death zone around 1000 km from their entrance beacon, that deals ±4k alpha if you are in deep. This alpha can be triggered if your warp makes you appear inside it, but even with slow warping ships this wonât happen often, and It never happened more than once in my orca, so I guess the width is a few 100 km. This was however an issue for small ships that could be blown if not tanked correctly. I never lost a ship to it, even with polarized stealth bomber.
The spawns are fixed, and limited. Basically there was three types of rats : frigates had low DPS(±50?), were fast(5mn that could be shut down with scram) and dealt kinetic damage (I think using rockets ?) ; cruisers had high thermal ham so were doing HUGE DPS around 30km(400?), were slow (using 10mn); the battleship was doing huge DPS but with very bad application because kinetic torpedo, around 50km range ; also was using a 500mn that could be shut down with scrambler.
No EWar but huge DPS.
Once you kill a rat it respawns after a fixed time. I think it was 10 min in the hub, mining and hacking areas, 60 min in the hunting area (not sure).
Main room âhubâ
The hub contains 3 accel gates, 5km from the beacon. a small patrol of 5 frigates and 2 cruisers may appear but not a big deal as you can activate accel gate very fast. Needed to go through it once per day to bookmark the other pockets.
âMiningâ room (left one)
This room contains one huge gas cloud that you can harvest from anywhere. the cloud is 250km radius IIRC. It also contains roids, spread from 50 to 150 km from the center, that allow you to mine the required materials for event items. Itâs better to warp to the next roid once you mine one (just faster).
The volume of the gas was too high and it was not worth sniffing it. IIRC after refining it was like 5 times less materials/minutes with max skills venture compared to a max skill procurer.
The room contains two structure, 20 km apart one from the other, were you can exchange the gas/ore for refined materials, but at a lower rate so reprocess is better.
The pocket contained 3 cruisers and 10 frigates, which spawn in several places (not altogether). You could handle them with a kinetic+thermal tanked procurer, assuming you split them and make your drones shoot the cruisers ASAP. An omni tanked orca with 500mn had no issue tanking the whole site.
âHuntingâ site (middle one)
This site contains warpable items in the middle, and also 5 âboss zoneâ spread in a circle around 200-300 km from the beacon.
The warpin spawn was 5 frigates. Nothing much to say.
A boss zone contains warpable items, a BS, 4-6 cruisers, up to 20 frigates IIRC.
The boss can loot event items, other loot is worthless.
âExplorationâ site (right one)
This site contains 4 âcanâ zone in a cross, each 50 km from the beacon, and warpable structures at the beacon, as well as around the place.
Each can zone is made of 4 cans in a cross, 5 km from the center of the zone. The cans were medium difficulty IIRC. They respawned after 8 minutes, and hold bpc, sometimes craft materials.
The spawn was like 4 cruisers, 10 frigates.
Strategies
For the mining room, just bring friends and have a nice chat. When rats appear, shoot them. an orca is mandatory, maybe even a hauler. Very chill activity, yet rewarding (I think it was 100M/h in an orca)
For the exploration room : donât bother shooting the rats. Make two bookmarks 50km behind two opposed can zones, you then can warp to them @50km and land in the can zone. Use a mwd, thermal+kinetic hardener fit stratios, rats canât kill you. Open the cans, warp to the other can zones, the rats are moving towards you but donât get in range to shoot you ; when the first can zone respawns, you can warp there back and hack again. the hardeners are just for the lolz. Or if you get AFK. With cap stable fit the rats were not able to kill my stratios. I think I even had EANM instead of specific hardeners. So you need hacking rigs, cap battery to be cap stable, then align/speed rigs to open the cans faster.
For the hunting site, you just needed to kill the BS.
- enyo was very strong. MWD + scram + shield booster ⊠everything else in damage. Warp to the next boss zone, orbit the BS, DAKADAKADAKA. 1500 m/s with mwd makes it fast, just never stand still or you die. BTW a tractor beam is good too.
- polarized stealth bomber is fun. Warp to structures with enough range, orbit the BS at 60km, explode it. CN torpedoes because more range and better apply on the BS. When all the bosses are dead, warp to the center, then warp to each can, loot it, and warp back, the rats wonât have the time to lock you. Was even faster than enyo but much more dangerous, especially since I removed the cruisers and frigates from my overview I lost several : once they are in range you are dead. Small shield extender mandatory to not die when warping in, mwd to have range control (the BS wonât kill you with torps because small sig, but you must NEVER get below 35km of the cruisersâŠ). It was fun killing rats before other people even exited warp or spooled their MJD
- machariel with MWD , grappler and MJD was ⊠boring. easy, but boring. also not as fast as I expected. The speed of the BS made the tracking harder. needed thermal and kinetic x-type shield hardener, otherwise could not facetank the rats.
- I noticed people using marauders. MJd was not needed most of the time, since you can warp in room and reposition with two warps almost perfectly. I think kronos or torpedo golem would best. Bastion would be useless.
- also people using tengus. They seemed strong but the enyo was just faster to warp in and I think the damage was on par. Lost a few contest, won a few, donât know really I think it was equal. Torpedo on the other hand was much better (as long as I did not lose it ).
I had two toons mining in one mining zone, chatting with people, while another alt hunting the BS, cycling through them (I had noted all the sites in bookmarks and thus made a cycling route). those toons were each mining ±100M/h, the hunting one was doing ± 500M/h worth of loot at first(looking at buy orders) and that went down to 300M/h on the least.
I made friends try the enyo (and saw one explode when stopping his ship), met the local people with mining operations, and made people laugh at me whenever I lost my polarized bomber.
