Are Events done, CCP?

hu ? Why did you feel it was bad ?

Here is what I remind of this event :

General settings

One site appeared per constellation. The position of the site in the system changed at downtime but not the system.

The four pockets are non-deadspace so you can freely warp in them. That means, you can create bookmark in it and bypass the hub to warp directly to the place you want inside the pocket, from insidee a pocket or anywhere else in the system. The pockets besides the hub contain warpable items that allow for fast repositioning.

The three “content” pocket are surrounded by an abyssal-style death zone around 1000 km from their entrance beacon, that deals ±4k alpha if you are in deep. This alpha can be triggered if your warp makes you appear inside it, but even with slow warping ships this won’t happen often, and It never happened more than once in my orca, so I guess the width is a few 100 km. This was however an issue for small ships that could be blown if not tanked correctly. I never lost a ship to it, even with polarized stealth bomber.

The spawns are fixed, and limited. Basically there was three types of rats : frigates had low DPS(±50?), were fast(5mn that could be shut down with scram) and dealt kinetic damage (I think using rockets ?) ; cruisers had high thermal ham so were doing HUGE DPS around 30km(400?), were slow (using 10mn); the battleship was doing huge DPS but with very bad application because kinetic torpedo, around 50km range ; also was using a 500mn that could be shut down with scrambler.

No EWar but huge DPS.

Once you kill a rat it respawns after a fixed time. I think it was 10 min in the hub, mining and hacking areas, 60 min in the hunting area (not sure).

Main room “hub”

The hub contains 3 accel gates, 5km from the beacon. a small patrol of 5 frigates and 2 cruisers may appear but not a big deal as you can activate accel gate very fast. Needed to go through it once per day to bookmark the other pockets.

“Mining” room (left one)

This room contains one huge gas cloud that you can harvest from anywhere. the cloud is 250km radius IIRC. It also contains roids, spread from 50 to 150 km from the center, that allow you to mine the required materials for event items. It’s better to warp to the next roid once you mine one (just faster).
The volume of the gas was too high and it was not worth sniffing it. IIRC after refining it was like 5 times less materials/minutes with max skills venture compared to a max skill procurer.

The room contains two structure, 20 km apart one from the other, were you can exchange the gas/ore for refined materials, but at a lower rate so reprocess is better.

The pocket contained 3 cruisers and 10 frigates, which spawn in several places (not altogether). You could handle them with a kinetic+thermal tanked procurer, assuming you split them and make your drones shoot the cruisers ASAP. An omni tanked orca with 500mn had no issue tanking the whole site.

“Hunting” site (middle one)

This site contains warpable items in the middle, and also 5 “boss zone” spread in a circle around 200-300 km from the beacon.

The warpin spawn was 5 frigates. Nothing much to say.

A boss zone contains warpable items, a BS, 4-6 cruisers, up to 20 frigates IIRC.
The boss can loot event items, other loot is worthless.

“Exploration” site (right one)

This site contains 4 “can” zone in a cross, each 50 km from the beacon, and warpable structures at the beacon, as well as around the place.

Each can zone is made of 4 cans in a cross, 5 km from the center of the zone. The cans were medium difficulty IIRC. They respawned after 8 minutes, and hold bpc, sometimes craft materials.

The spawn was like 4 cruisers, 10 frigates.

Strategies

For the mining room, just bring friends and have a nice chat. When rats appear, shoot them. an orca is mandatory, maybe even a hauler. Very chill activity, yet rewarding (I think it was 100M/h in an orca)

For the exploration room : don’t bother shooting the rats. Make two bookmarks 50km behind two opposed can zones, you then can warp to them @50km and land in the can zone. Use a mwd, thermal+kinetic hardener fit stratios, rats can’t kill you. Open the cans, warp to the other can zones, the rats are moving towards you but don’t get in range to shoot you ; when the first can zone respawns, you can warp there back and hack again. the hardeners are just for the lolz. Or if you get AFK. With cap stable fit the rats were not able to kill my stratios. I think I even had EANM instead of specific hardeners. So you need hacking rigs, cap battery to be cap stable, then align/speed rigs to open the cans faster.

For the hunting site, you just needed to kill the BS.

  • enyo was very strong. MWD + scram + shield booster
everything else in damage. Warp to the next boss zone, orbit the BS, DAKADAKADAKA. 1500 m/s with mwd makes it fast, just never stand still or you die. BTW a tractor beam is good too.
  • polarized stealth bomber is fun. Warp to structures with enough range, orbit the BS at 60km, explode it. CN torpedoes because more range and better apply on the BS. When all the bosses are dead, warp to the center, then warp to each can, loot it, and warp back, the rats won’t have the time to lock you. Was even faster than enyo but much more dangerous, especially since I removed the cruisers and frigates from my overview I lost several : once they are in range you are dead. Small shield extender mandatory to not die when warping in, mwd to have range control (the BS won’t kill you with torps because small sig, but you must NEVER get below 35km of the cruisers
). It was fun killing rats before other people even exited warp or spooled their MJD
  • machariel with MWD , grappler and MJD was
boring. easy, but boring. also not as fast as I expected. The speed of the BS made the tracking harder. needed thermal and kinetic x-type shield hardener, otherwise could not facetank the rats.
  • I noticed people using marauders. MJd was not needed most of the time, since you can warp in room and reposition with two warps almost perfectly. I think kronos or torpedo golem would best. Bastion would be useless.
  • also people using tengus. They seemed strong but the enyo was just faster to warp in and I think the damage was on par. Lost a few contest, won a few, don’t know really I think it was equal. Torpedo on the other hand was much better (as long as I did not lose it :stuck_out_tongue: ).

I had two toons mining in one mining zone, chatting with people, while another alt hunting the BS, cycling through them (I had noted all the sites in bookmarks and thus made a cycling route). those toons were each mining ±100M/h, the hunting one was doing ± 500M/h worth of loot at first(looking at buy orders) and that went down to 300M/h on the least.
I made friends try the enyo (and saw one explode when stopping his ship), met the local people with mining operations, and made people laugh at me whenever I lost my polarized bomber.

The old events were good and miss a lot !

Why don’t we have anymore these kinds of event, whereas the Eve Online Events page indicate “These uniquely themed Events are active each month for a limited time only.” ?

Hope these old events will return !

same here, would like to see the events in style of 2015/2016 such as frostline bling. No lootboxes, no gambling, just run sites and kill a boss npc with loot

You have the invasions now

It’s just unfortunate that the invasion(s) became old static way of providing PvE content. Warp in to the signature, clear NPC’s, reap rewards.

The first week of invasion was pretty cool. Hunting the NPC’s around the system. If you’re not able to clear them fast enough, a support NPC fleet would come and #rekt your anus. Glorious days :D.

P.S. see the image

Invasions are more or less the same as Incursions and has to be done in group
so that’s boring and not interesting, in my opinion.

When i told that old events were good, i spoke about events that occured few years ago, when you had some sites that could be done in solo, kill the boss, and take the loot (skin, booster, faction modules
etc).
There were also some events with this kind of system + some achievement rewards (ex: BC, BS, booster
etc.). That type of events were great !

But we don’t have anymore event since the last failed one in decembre

Have you tried the invasions? It has much more in common with the events
warp in, take the boss, “steal” the loot.

I am not sure how much you all want spoiled here, but I have evidence that another event is coming soon(ish).

Let’s hope it is not just another daily login reward “event” to boost numbers. There is new stuff shown on hoboleaks, but no new NPCs.

Another million skill-points would be nice, though

I think the Triglavian Invasion will eventually become a monthly or even random event after the current Triglavian event de-spawns.

Having the Triglavian Invasion spread out over a longer period of time will create better content as the story is developed for each Triglavian Clade that then suddenly appears to wreck havoc in New Eden.

The big event I hope to see is the development of NPC vs NPC (Sansha vs Triglavian) where you can enlist for one side or the other in supporting their cause.

Troll post, or do you never read patch or expansion notes?

I don’t think many people do unfortunately, I still see many people asking “what is this filament thing that I found?” -_-

I’m still waiting for the Sansha “event” to “de-spawn(?)”

Was happy to grind simple events for accelerators and skins. Loot becoming bpcs that require mining just made me quit, too much hassle, not feeling rewarding.

Simple event, direct rewards, every system.

The last few events, while interesting from a designer perspective, were just too convoluted and unrewarding. The old drone event and old harvest event are examples of how it should be done. With drugs and accelerators dropping from the site itself, as this has an intrinsic value. Take it away and other activities are waaaaaaaaaaaaay better for isk/hr. And please event sites in every system, the frustration of constantly wanting to shoot allies because of the lack of sites is super frustrating and does not foster friendship.

The problem wasn’t that bpcs required mining, problem was how much of it was required.

Problem was not how much was required, it was the amount of time you needed to harvest them.
In the polar event, I asked for CCP to divide the volume of the gas by 10. it was a simple and effective fix to make gas sniffing almost as interesting as ore mining. They did not care about it, keeping the gas producing 10 times less reprocessed minerals than roid mining.
In the last event, it was the same issue of reprocessed quantity/min of mining.

Mistakes can be made. What was completely retard from CCP is to NOT fix their ■■■■■■■ event. This was a complete middle finger to the players who invested time to try their event. I felt really insulted by the promotion of this event that was completely ■■■■■■ only by THIS ONE value. The polar event was very good, though the gas volume was too high and CCP did not fix that very simple issue. That’s two events in which they don’t fix issues, and one in which it prevents the event from being worth anything. It’ like you build a car and shoot your own tyred.
CCP NOT FIXING the ■■■■■■■ volume values was IMO the single reason of the last event being a complete waste of time and resource, both for CCP and players. Them not aknowledging this is what prevents me to believe in CCP doing correct events later on.

It was not a mistake, it was by design (confirmed by dev), to reduce the circulating stock from previous events.

I don’t think there will be any further event except daily rewards, the devs didn’t like our feedback. So, we didn’t like it, then scrap it.

and as the dev in charge explained, “it was to siphon the resources, but it was too much”. It was admitted as a mixed, but never fistake. THAT is my main concern. CCP makes mistakes, but does not fix them in time. They made a big one with the loot of the culinary event (where blood I think where cooking their drugs), resulting in lotsa faction items, and fixed it silently in the night. Same for last event where the BS had an attack delay of 1.1 s instead of 11.

I really loved the one with polar dwarves, except for the DUCKING UNFIXED gas volume.
It was much more fun, social, than all the previous events. Also loved the one versus drifters, where you had to scan down the sites and catch it, and could possibly escalate to an harder version.

I’ve made a lot of previous events, those were “warp to beacon, kill the boss if possible” and they were boring after an hour. Events started being interesting since the serpentis structures events (though this one was too grindy), with a different world, different mechanism, each time.

But you know, just bringing back successful stuff is not innovative and fun to code.

What I think what happened is
the retrospective of the last event did not leave the event team in a good shape. The management decided to move the team to build the new Invasion mechanic (it shows the writing of the event devs). This will be iterated on until CCP abandons the feature and assigns the team to the next cool thing.

If they can’t fix the reward structure soon (imbalance towards salvaging), this moment may not be far away
 CCPlease, don’t ■■■■ this up!
