Enough is enough!

Oh my! Another crisis hits New Eden. This Abyssal / Drifter crisis has gone too far. To be sure, I don’t need CCP creating “content” for me to play Eve. Yeah…it’s okay on occasion to shake the daily grind. But I don’t need or want the incessant rewards, opportunities etc. thrown at me every time I log in. There was a time in Eve when players created the content and as long as it didn’t break the hard and fast rules (bending them was tolerated to some extent), it was a blast. Now it appears that CCP wants to cater to a new class of TLDR chimps who are incapable of thinking for themselves. I fully understand that for Eve to be the best MMO ever made it must evolve and go forward. However; Let us as the ones who pay for those fancy servers and code monkeys make the content that makes sense. BTW, What is this preoccupation with skins? I don’t ever remember a time when players were so consumed with “vanity” hulls. Colors/ graphics don’t increase EHP/DPS. What a waste! Bitter vet and proud of it.

So just don’t do the event then…simple as that.

Yeah I seen the event, I just minimised the wee thingy and that was it.

I don’t do the events. The events have the effect of interfering with a players choice of what they choose to do. They essentially add a secondary or tertiary level in any given system that requires you to spend game time responding too. Unlike some Eve players, I believe in freedom of choice, Not some artificially driven game play that emphasizes group think/activities. If you are not able to achieve your goals in Eve solo… Then the game is driven by a misguided social construct that encourages dependancy as opposed to meritocracy. Earn your own way.

A solo option for these events would’ve been nice.

There is a solo option, scanning/hacking sites

The main issue that’s really messed up about this event is there’s no info available about the event tasks so Capsuleers can decide which ones to complete… Also no info if there’s any type of standing penalty for completing those event tasks…

And I agree 100% with the OP, totally tired of constantly seeing ship skin / skinner items placed as event rewards…

Wow, that’s so… exciting.

From what I’ve seen so far that task doesn’t automatically reset after completing it… It get’s replaced with another combat oriented group task…

This event is not set up for solo engagement…

And it’s limited to T1 cruisers/battlecruisers. It manages to tick every box in EVE Suck Bingo.

Horrible event selection interface
Literally zero information on the event
Not easy to find/figure out where the event takes place
No solo play (multibox or find a fleet of stragglers)
Limited to T1 (mainly cruiser) ships
Crappy event rewards (SKINR anyone?)

Well I guess a part of the fun is figuring out what and how things work, i personally love it when features are added and we aren’t really told how it works like new types of sites, as long as we have a basic idea of where it is and how it is occuring i think its enough, though those who are lazy and like the short way into isk might think otherwise… but i do agree that we should have agency over events, if this event was a cause to some event that happened due to players such as finding a part of the game that has yet to be discovered (like a rare WH or someting) ig it would be fine

Well, I’m sorry but these descriptions don’t give any info on where to go, what to look for, which ship / equipment is needed and if it’s a solo or group activity to complete these tasks… Can’t even click / expand them for some basic info…

Most players don’t have the time to waste playing detective and try to figure out just exactly what the actual task is… especially if it’s a timed event… not to mention going in unprepared and losing their ship due to CCP’s poor execution of communication…

I agree only on the part that the information about the event and finding and completion of the sites, should be more clear and better understandable. But with a few tries and mkstakes, it goes well.

These events are not a bad thing if they would be optional, but unfortunately they aren’t.

I recently almost lost a quite expensive ship in HS (that was explicitly fitted so that gankers won’t touch it) to NPCs because mid-warp I got a phone call and had to turn away from the PC for like a minute. At the next system there was an “event Gate Camp” of like 20 NPCs that almost grinded through the 200k eHP of the ship before I got back. NO indication in the route overview that this system was contested, NO warning message before jumping in. NO hint in the initial event message on login that NPCs would even gatecamp in HS. And people lost hundreds or even thousands of ships that way.

This is horrible design. Almost as if someone at CCP intentionally wants to lose players. I can absolutely imagine if someone loses a Marauder or Freighter over such stupid stuff, he either doesn’t log in a for quite some time any more or simply quits. And again: The problem isn’t that the NPCs gatecamp there, the problem is that the Event does changes the rules without any notification, so people can hardly prepare for the next set of stupid sudden-death traps thrown right in their way out of the blue.

  • Event affected systems/areas have to be clearly indicated in a log-in-warning, on the map, in the routes and when trying to jump in with a warning message that you have to confirm
  • Event sites in random system should always have a clear indicator that they are much harder than the normal anomalies and not just having the same green anomaly color (say: orange colored)
  • Event signatures (those you have to scan first) should always present a warning message that they might be a lot more dangerous than the normal sites of this area and the warpin point shall always be placed in away that you can warp out (delayed tackle) if you realize you made a mistake.
  • Event NPCs in random systems should never be present at Stations or Gates, especially not with Empire Police or CONCORD on grid, just sitting there and doing nothing. That kills immersion and just causes frustration to random travelers.

It really isn’t that complex to stick to some user-friendly rules when designing such events… They can be hard, challenging and rewarding for those who want to participate. But not a hassle for those who don’t want.

This entire event has been a massive clusterf*ck since the get go.

Out of curiosity, are these “event gate camps” attacking everyone or just those with certain standings?

…who haven’t spent any $$$ in the CA$H shop the past 60 days.

That totally depends on which faction they use and how these NPCs are scripted. But it doesn’t really matter because you don’t know which faction they chose for the next event or if those will actually use standings or not, so you can’t prepare anyway. And 99% of all players won’t have positive standings to the pirate NPC factions anyway.

you do know this is not Elite Dangerous … the social component is what makes eve great.
but you are not required to use any of the social/group/fleet features.

but like others said, just minimize the ad, and you good to go, no CCP employee will put a gun on your head and force you to play it trough.

You guys shouldn’t have got negative Drifter Standings. One misclick years ago and now you will be punished.

Eve Online is a hobby and my guess many would have spent some money on this hobby!
