Are You Planning to Vote for CSM?

As the title says…

Are you planning to vote for CSM?
  • Yes
  • No

I’m not sure yet. There don’t seem to be many candidates that represent my interests. If I’m understanding the vote system correctly, if I don’t fill up my ballot completely then my vote might not count.

Anyway, do you players have hope that you will have representation before the devs (who are under no obligation to abide by player suggestions)? Will you participate?

Why would I waste my time? Do you actually think the CSM does anything for “players”?

CSM does not do directly changes to EVE, but they give Feedback to CCP about upcoming things and they also can make suggestions themselves that get implemented.
For example many changes in Pochven and FW were introduced from CSM Feedback, as well as some balance changes etc.

The CSM is mostly a token panel. CCP already makes their design decisions internally, then gives the CSM a preview and calls it “feedback.” The few changes that get credited to CSM are scraps to make it look like the process matters. At the end of the day, it’s a PR tool. Players get the illusion of representation, while CCP still does exactly what it wants.

Isn’t FW more botted than ever before? Not a good advertisement for CSM contributions.

Depends, how much are people paying for votes :stuck_out_tongue:

CCP should do thier own customer support instead of delegating it to customers

CCP reads my blog when they want to know what I think.

at one time the summit was kind of like that as we came in too late in the iteration. More recently we the summit has been scheduled to be at the start of the processes rather than the end. But all that aside the CSM has weekly meetings with teams as well as some specialist getting 1v1 time on very specific topics.

I am voting as I see it as an opportunity to see just what the the present CSM members have to say for themselves in what each may or may not have domne. What the candidates that want to take the seats are thinking of doing. CSM does a lot more behind the scenes than most realize. Can influence and has influenced changes of something going out the door.

While I appreciate most players see the CSM as being just a rubber stamp for the defvs and by extension CCP as a whole. Which I know is not true. Yes CCP tells the CSM this is going to happen. And wants their evaluation, but more importantly they want to know what players are thinking. The Dev’s instead of running to each of us to ask a question. Like a man on the street. The CSM is about the best that is going to happen.

One thing that I do know that the CSM was able to accomplish. This last year the dev’s are now tweaking things every other week if not every week. Especially after a major update drops. That can be traced back to players both here on the forums and reddit wanting to see a better managed way to deal with inevitable bugs that crop up. It was the CSM that helped push the dev across the finish line. Announcing that they were now reviewing things and working on tweaking and correcting unintended consequences that affected the game in negative ways.Ie the bugs and broken content.

As a member of this community, it’s my civic duty to vote…

Especially since I’m an Omega account and have been voting on CSM elections for a long time…

Regardless if my vote does or doesn’t really matter, I’m still going to toss my 0.02 ISK into the voting machine…

I usually only vote if I know someone running. It’s hard for me to vote for people I don’t know. And often people don’t stand for what they say they stand for on these things. If I know a guy then I know what he stands for and I can trust him with my vote.

I think CSM is a nice thing in concept, but it hasn’t worked to its full potential.

When the people who are actually there in the room says it came from the CSM, I believe them over some internet rando on the forums like you.

It’s gone down since, not a lot but more changes are coming.

Just like make drama for turn back the old abyss arena? It is a waste of time to vote for people who see nothing beyond their own shoes, and keep staring only at their own shoes.

I will not vote in a democracy that is not truly a democracy. It is nothing more than a process of popularity or mass appeal, not of merit or fair representation, where those elected only seek to benefit themselves and their coalitions, not the state of the game or its community.

That is how democracies tend to work. The most popular wins the seat.

Have never voted ever for anyone. Will continue that streak.

A small chance.

But even if there’s only one candidate you like it’s better to just vote for that candidate than to not vote at all!

CCP at the very least uses the CSM to get some more direct feedback from players. I’d rather vote in someone I trust to give OK feedback, because it would be worse if the person they listened to had opinions like yours.

Now that’s not very democratic, is it?
