I’m not saying I support it, but that we shouldn’t be introducing a module to try and accomplish the same damn thing.

Ahhh yes, this lie yet again…

Indeed. A few years ago Red Frog Freight put out a report for their 2015 business (I think it was 2015). I think the number of failed contracts was something like 0.2%. In other words, ganking is a really small problem if you freighter right. After all, that is all failed contracts not just ganks.

Lets have the Devs do something that is not needed since the problem can be solved in game by the mechanics, ships, and friends one already has in game.

God forbid we actually address the conversation…

Bumping freighters for 8 hours is like the second coming of Christ. It’s whispered that it is going to happen, yet here we are still waiting.

There’s no direct evidence this occurs in the game at all.

So drop the time frame down to 5 minutes. How often does that happen?

The point has always been that there’s no way to avoid someone doing it for 8 hours if they want too, assuming that they get the first one off.

There’s no need, since there is no problem to fix.

So you are saying that it never happens for more than 5 minutes?

If it does, that is a problem that needs fixing in High Sec

Don’t be daft Mike. You aren’t that stupid.

By what agreed measure is this a problem?

The design principals of high sec.

All aggression between players is limited.

You have a mechanic that wasn’t intended for aggression being used aggressively. Emergent Gameplay is something they support, so outright bans aren’t called for, but an adjustment to restore the high sec ruleset to a balanced state is called for.

By the game design principle that stalemates are bad. A stagnant game state where neither side is going to progress towards winning very quickly becomes a tedious slog and very little fun. Extended bumping is exactly that kind of stalemate: the bumping player is either unable or unwilling to kill the freighter (at least without an indefinite wait), but the freighter player isn’t able to escape the bump. And as it is there is no mechanic to break the stalemate, it can continue on indefinitely. The only resolution is for the freighter player to quit and log off for the night (bad) or for the bumping player to get tired of bumping and quit (also bad).

A timer-based escape solves the stalemate issue by putting a finite time limit on it without removing the legitimate uses of bumping. An idiot freighter pilot who puts too much value in their ship can still be bumped to buy a few seconds of time to deliver the kill shot, cloaked ships can still go for a bump to keep a target from warping out before they can clear their recalibration delay and get tackle, etc. But one way or another the situation is going to be resolved quickly.

I’ve seen someone bumped for 3-4 hours because that was when a war started

If you bump with reason, it’s a non-issue
Besides, people don’t waste hours of their time to simply bump without purpose :joy:

This is just another stealth Nerf ganking thread

Git gud

stop crying, the sea is already too salty.

I’m laughing at you "Reeeeeeeeeeee gankers are killing my 57b anti-tanked freighter in highsec REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE " people

You need to find a new hobby if you can’t stand legitimate pvp in a pvp spaceship game

Another one who didn’t read OP.

This is not the conversation OP started, do we have to use report?

It is a lie. There is zero evidence of this.

Of course there is zero evidence. Bumping isn’t recorded by the game engine.

No. What people are saying is be prudent and responsible and there is no problem.

There is more than just that for evidence. It is always this unnamed player. A friend of a friend of a friend. It is an EVE legend.

So you are saying there are no instances ever of bumping occurring for timespans over 5 minutes?

No dumbass I am saying nobody has been bumped for 8 hours. It is just a lie people like you use. If CCP ever decides on a time limit then I would hope for it to be more than 15 minutes. Yes, I want the gank fleet waiting out their timers to have time to wait out their timers then go kill the moron. Being a moron should never be encouraged.
