Balancing Hi-Sec Freighter Bump Mechanics

What has a sober Hilmar done about it?

Has he eliminated BLOPs from the game?
Eliminated Capitals and other Capital sized ships like Freighters and Jump Freighters?
Eliminated wormholes?

None of those things. They all still exist in the game and they all benefit from group play, either through alts or friends.

What does autism have to do with anything? Are you being ableist?

Really? it has nothing to do with ganking? I wonder why carebears care so much about being bumped for so long. I mean, surely, if its not about ganking, then bumping is a non threat. With no ganking involved, bumping is just a minor inconvenience for a hauler.

All those ships have a way to counter the bumping mechanic. Sorry nice try.

So what?

None of them can generally be played well solo. Nothing to do with the bumping mechanic.

And there is nothing inherently wrong that some ships, including Freighters, benefit from group play.

What is so fundamentally wrong with the concept that not all ships in the game have to be solo pwn mobiles?

The correct way to deal with it would be a form of aggression but due to the problems it would cause on undocks it would just be creating a new set of problems in a different location. Creating damage from a bump isn’t realistic either for example a fleet of dreads that jump to a cyno all bump into each other and so causing damage would not be a good solution for bumping since it would greatly cause favor the people already on the field. That’s why the module is such a reasonable solution since much of the code exists in the game already and can be repurposed so it’s a fairly easy change to implement and it’s been discussed at previous eve events and thank you for keeping the forum post alive with your nerd rage / autism, you and scipio sperg posting are doing an awesome job ensuring this topic gets the visibility. Go go nerd autism.

What some random alt with a main too scared to post writes, is hardly a worry at all.

I’m happier being an autist, passionate about the game, than a basement dweller too scared to even post on their normal character.

That’s not autistic. Just sad and pathetic.

Again, Why are you even bringing up Autism?

There already exists a reasonable solution. It involves critical thinking and problem solving. I, as a hauler, do not need to worry about bumps. No one can bump my freighters. No one can gank my freighters. I dont even need as many accounts as your average gank fleet. If I encounter a solo bumper, I whiz right past him. If he bumps my freighter, I bump myself into warp. Haulers are not incapable of taking care of themselves. I’m a strong independent space trucker who don’t need no warp module.

Just wait until they accuse you of following them around on reddit :joy:

We know the point: Pilot wants to not be attacked because pilot refuses to be prepared for said attack.

But rather than be prepared, pilot comes to forums to weep for changes.

Bumping, afk Cloaking Whinners, all the same thing.

Pilot wants to be safe without putting any effort into his own safety

i could accapt such module like any Risk averse HS dude want … but it Needs a 10 min spool up time and it have to be interuptable from real tackle. THEN and only THEN i would accapt such useless module

I dont post on my main becuase and I’m not interested in being wardec’d for offering such a notion of balance.

I’ve previously stated that over a decade I’ve probably moved half a billion m3, multi boxing multiple freighters and on occasion with loot pinatas in the 50B range becuase I always use a web alt. In that time I’ve only lost 2 freighters and 3 JF’s (null sec) in total none were anything I’ve ever lost sleep over. I’m ahead of the game no matter what.

Even with a module I will still web alt becuase it’s simply faster but more importantly absolutely none of this takes away from the fact that unlimited time to bump is a 1 v 1 mechanic that is absolutely unreasonable.

I don’t care who you are or how many billions of cargo you have moved.

To me every paying customer gets an opinion…

…no matter how wrong they are

So now you are saying that non-paying customers don’t have an opinion at all regarding Eve Online. Is that what you are saying? Because if you are then you have set yourself and Eve Online up as being a scam to get people to pay for their opinions to matter.

Ok, Lawyer, Politician or Reporter IRL?

No he’s not, trying to bait someone by being cheeky, fail.

Pretty sure the goal is for people to try the game for free. At this point it’s safe to assume they don’t have proper knowledge about the game to give valid opinions.

I admit, there might be some people who choose to play this game and never subscribe and personally I wouldn’t care about their opinions either, unless they are good ideas or well argumented thoughts. (and lets be honest, they never are)

When is the last time that you had an idea that took planning to even begin with?

I see where you’re getting at, but it still doesn’t disprove the premise.

Have you proven the premise?

Looking at this thread, I have come to the conclusion that bumping is still balanced, but only barely. Sometimes I think there are way too many ways to avoid bumping and getting ganked.
