Ban recruiter links from local

I feel the playstyle of tricking people into clicking recruiter links is bad for the game.

Local used to have discussion in the newbie systems, and now it’s massive blocks of ‘click this for 1 mil sp’.

Disagree with me? try to get help ruins the local channel in a newbie system as a new player and see how quickly people try to get you to click it.

It won’t matter. Once you ban one recruiter, they will spin up another and start the process all over again.

first thing newbros need to lern is ignore the local chat ! use the local member list but ignore the chat !

Yes ! if you start ban one thing from local this will spread and then more and more things gets banned ! dont start with a “ban wave” for local spammers !

They automatically remove posts from a lot of other websites, it’s a minor change to their filters.

There is an entire chat channel dedicated to answering questions and guiding new players, and it usually does a good job.

There is clearly an issue but the CCPsplainers show up as usual and pretend there isnt

Can someone remind me what is the point of recruitment programs for people who are already playing the game.

People who start playing eve, but didnt know about the stuff that comes from recruite, gives them an opportunity to restart another character or on the current character (which is where all the links are from).

If ccp would remove the option of allowing pilots already in game from getting the 1 mil sp, the recruiter spam would go away

Why do you hate this game so much? And for a game you despise, you spend a lot of energy on the forums trying to convince people that you hate it.

What’s your end game here, Wesfahrn?

I’m fine with people later able to get the benefit. That’s fine.

It’s the spam, it hurts the game, makes it look like a scam, and rewards people doing scummy people to new players that they don’t even help.

It’s also spreading to eve mail, which I just got on an alt.

I support banning 1m sp links in in-game chat channels.
It’s horrific spam.

Its interesting how some people think that acting like there are no problems means you are helping the game and the people who are pointing out issues and asking questions are hurting it

That didn’t answer my question.

Why do you hate this game so much?

It’s not a playstyle.

New player discussions can be found in Corporation window. Local is useless but for the bit of intel it provides: who is in system. Nothing more.

New players can get help in the Rookie Channel.

Yes the spam is atrocious but if you learn to ignore Local, there is no issue.

Not all new players know about the 1Mil SP before they join. That link is for them.

Couldn’t be easier.

Whoever does that are the most anoying and stupid spammers. If I block a 1mil SP link spammer because I already redeemed the 1mil SP, I won’t need the link either when they spin a new alt. (just as stupid from Jita spammers with their hypernet link : I’m not interested, period (but I usually turn to corp chat when in Jita, trying to block people there is a waste of time))

A “Block accounts” would be nice to block the entirety of accounts/characters under the same email. This way a character that is terminated and replaced with a new one, it will still be blocked Though it would not help with people generating multiple email addresses for their spam accounts.

Spam is an issue in Rookie Chat as well. It needs more moderation and the application of some filters.

I didn’t see one spam message when I used Rookie chat and there was a moderator every time I did. But I was never in it that long or many times so maybe there is an issue there but didn’t witness it.
What kind of filters would those be?

It’s really simple. The client already has filters. Just have it also filter on the recruiter link in local, rookie help, and any other standardized channel. Maybe not in fleet, definitely not in private convo.

Then it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for CCP to implement it. It shouldn’t be that hard either so the reasons they haven’t done it may elude us but they could be good reasons. Unless someone suggests that the devs can’t do it or won’t do it because they like players being spammed?

Why not? I certainly don’t want to see spam in fleet window.

Local chat needs to die a horrible, painful death in the main trade hubs. Problem solved.
