Inside Interstellar event systems, it almost looks like nobody knows about it. People just casually autopiloting. Though anyone can get smoked there.
Now that ive setup my alts with a 300km ping on few of these systems, i can just see if theres drifters on the gates and focus on them. If a players pops, warp down, loot all, warp back, cloak. Ive never gotten this rich just by watching before.
And i have only 3 systems im doing this. 10 available currently.
I think people should know, this aint fair for them.
Whoever decided to put this in the game is not smart. And i fear as revenue drops because players get fed up they will double down on this kind of stuff. Eventually high sec will become null-sec.
Its just sad CCP cant seem to figure out how to maintain this game.
Anyway thanks for the heads up and gz on the loot i guess.
This was the same with the EDENCOM vs TRIG systems in hisec. Similar with the insurgency systems or whatever they are called. People can make good ISK on these.
As often the case in EVE: One capsuleer’s misfortune can be another capsuleer’s fortune.
He has a point tho. It is a very very bad design decision to put events into the game that way. Like wtih the trig camps, the autothysian lancer reinforcements or FOBs they are alienating and frustrating paying customers by suddenly adding surprise death traps without communicating them properly. And totally unnessessary so. They are hitting themselves an axe into the knee for no reason.
The stargate between Minmatar’s Jark and Ammatar’s Sasta is heavily camped by faction armies on both sides of the gate in consequence of Brutor Tribe having “smuggled” a cyno to Tanoo and dropped dreadnaughts there during a CCP organized event a few years ago. The camp consists of about 300 faction ships orbiting the gate at various distances and there’s almost no way to cloaky align a blockade runner over the many NPCs being close.
Now, it happens a lot of players that have horrible standings with either Minmatar or Ammatar or both decide to jump that gate and on the other side, the faction army is already fully staged and gives them a beautiful opportunity to redo their fits in the instance they drop stargate cloak.
There’s quite a few players already farming the wrecks produced by the faction armies there, though.
From what I understood there’s one system like that 2 jumps from a Caldari starter system. Now I don’t have a problem with scary NPC (I picked up a lot of loot back when trigs used to do this), especially not if it counters lazy/afk players but things are a bit out of whack with these.
It’s almost as if since CCP pretty much destroyed quite a few pvp options in HS that posed a challenge, they replaced it with PVE ones instead that are actually worse.
Autothysian Drifter Ships does not attack you unless you happens to carry a Corpse. All they do is scanning ships and structures looking for Corpses. However should you decide to attack them they will call for reinforcements - usually 2 Drifter Battleships with mini-doomsday device that does enormous amounts of damage.
In my opinion the main issue with these special ongoing NPC storylines is that the programing and implementation of it is totally devoid of common sense…
CCP programs these overpowered NPC Fleets with Null Sec Alliance PvP game mechanics and places them right smack dab in the middle of busy High Sec systems where solo PvE players, Industrialists and Newbie’s are active…
Common sense would have the invading hostile force first take over Null Sec systems and establish a Supply Base Of Operations, then move into Low Sec space to establish a Forward Operating Base which would send small Gang Raiding Parties into High Sec space…
Instead of following a common sense approach with a progressive storyline movement, CCP always implements the last chapter of their ego based hairbrained scripts which forces High Sec players to engage in Null Sec game content, whether they want to or not…
Implementing this type of game play removes player choice and breaks RP immersion. Trying to force players to interact with content they don’t want ultimately discourages those players from logging into the game…
The other issue is that its temporary so most of the work ends up only affecting the people who are playing during the event. In other words the work wont pay dividends. Compare this to for example adding a Tech II reactive armor hardener tomorrow. This content will be available for people who play from tomorrow and in in 6 months. Do you know what i mean?
Seems like the event is reaching next stage with some invasions into wormholes. Its very elaborate with lore and everything. But if you are running a skeleton crew maintaining this MMO this should not be your priority. The work put into it is not going to be enjoyed by anyone even a month from now probably. Why are they doing this.
