if a sufficiently large number of consumers post honest opinions online, the model predicts that forum manipulation reduces the profits of all competing firms.
Pushing “Toxic positivism” Harms the cause more than the negativism.
Yes, toxic positivism can be harmful. When people praise CCP no matter what they do, we would have a case of toxic positivism that provides CCP as little useful input as toxic negativism does.
That’s why it’s important to provide constructive feedback, rather than endless rants or praise.
Maybe we could have a third veteran on the right side of the ‘better vet’ called the ‘butter vet’ who always is praising CCP and telling CCP how good they do.
CCP coming with amazing good ideas. Every time it fills me with hopes, happiness.
But it fails because of wrong execution.
For this specific example :
Either they have to make some clones of yours. OR start in-service training programs and you teach.
By looking at all of the threads that you’ve started compared to the ones that I’ve started, you’re the one that’s actually sitting on the left side of that picture.
I have no power over you. There is no power for me to abuse. Therefore, no I can’t be a dictator, by the definition.
I did not say that.
I never said I am.
I myself complain about many changes. The difference is that I don’t try to make it a dishonest way like you do. Also I don’t expect my voice to have an impact on people.
I did not say that.
pot, meet kettle. There is nothing constructive when I talk to you, precisely because you avoid the constructive criticism. I literally told you your claims were void about mine, but then you play the retard game of “I did not say it” while you actually did.
I don’t know who you are trying to convince. But actually, I don’t care. Your only contributions were to make personal attacks and denial of what you just did. Not really “constructive criticism”.
This.
The problem is the pollution of the medium by people who keep spamming the opinion they were told to propagate. Like a DDoS, they are harmful, and are toys used to be harmful.
There is a term for the result of an action, that prevent constructive actions : it’s pollution.
If CCP really doesn’t know what the players want because of the tons of suggestions that we provide, then they should ask us. Not just the CSM but the players directly. That’s what this forum’s #technology-research:upcoming-features-changes forum is supposed to be there for.
Instead of giving us badly designed features in a dev blog with barely any auxiliary information that would explain why they were killing the Prospect, why they are removing the slots on the Proc, why they went for waste while mining instead of just not implementing as much new ore and so on, and that we had all reasons to expect to be implemented within the next 2 weeks (following the last 4 changes packs that they implemented in the same manner despite lots and lots of things that needed fixing), do what Rattati proclaimed he would love to do more. Float an idea, reasons, descriptions, musings, backgrounds, expectations for it on the forum and see what think of it. Or do surveys after a patch to see what people think about it. Other game devs do that after every patch and ask people specific questions about the contents of the patch. Again, early in 2021 CCP introduced this Surveys With Rewards feature, used it once for a creepy bogus psycho analysis survey and then seemingly discarded it. Use that thing to get more input from people and not just the “echo chambers” on reddit or “batter vets” like me on the forums.
If lack of information from players or too much unsortable information from players really was an issue for CCP, they already have the tools to fix that. But they don’t use them … which brings me back to my previous statement that “being nice is not exactly helping”. But I don’t know why I keep writing that again and again …
But what if they ask 2 different people who happen to have opposing ideas?
What if they ask a thousand and most of the ideas are dumb af right from the start, a large remainder can easily be classified as “gimme moar” and thus discarded and the few reasonable ideas are, again, opposing views?
Let them do what they want to do and adapt to the new situation, finding new niches and profitable avenues. The more people stop doing something, the better it is for the ones who keep doing it.
CCP have some really dumb ideas at times but when it comes to balancing just let it happen and smile at the emerging opportunities.
Many players, including myself, have complained about CCP releasing updates without asking for player feedback or allowing us to test things, because that has contributed to buggy, half-baked releases. And CCP has seemed to have listened, because they have started pushing things to the test server and asking for player feedback…
And somehow, the fact that the community found problems is being spun as a failure. I mean, isn’t that the whole point? Isn’t the whole point of asking for community feedback so that we can identify issues and make suggestions before things get pushed to TQ?
I mean, what do we expect -that CCP not ask for feedback until they’ve already ironed out all the kinks? Because at that point, what’s the point of asking for player feedback? To maybe make a few tiny tweaks, find a few more bugs, or maybe just to make a big show about CCP pretending to listen to community feedback?
So, to me, this is one of things that is being interpreted very differently by players based on their attitudes and beliefs. Bitter vets see a failure, while I see a success. I saw CCP asking for, and responding to player feedback -which ultimately resulted in a better update.
But your right about one thing though. I’ve never seen another dev delaying or strip out features or content. So for CCP to do it is a sure sign of incompetency.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to install the “unfinished business” mod for the highest rated game of all time. It restores a bunch of content that was cut before… hey, wait a minute!!!
Here comes wokeness for the Eve forum. What is this critical vet theory? My neighborhood has virtue signaling signs in front yards telling everyone how so woke the occupant is and shaming everyone to think the same with little bromides that are oh so wokey.
I suppose this is considered a rant and I’m therefore wrong or bitter. The OP often condescends to others in the forum but condescension failed to make the list. I hope everyone in the forum enjoyed the experience of being reduced to eight little boxes.
People and the world are “a little” more complicated than eight boxes, but if ya’ll want to crawl into those eight little boxes and be defined by them knock yourselves out.
That is pretty much how it went down and sadly it wasn’t only with the Rorquals. There were a lot of “updates” around the same period that led to the game ultimately being sold and ending up in its current state.
It’s taken CCP management (not Devs, can’t blame those who actually do the work for failures from above) 6 years to “begin” to address “some” of their fukups - and even now they just don’t seem to have a clue.
All these changes to mining and industry won’t address the underlying issues CCP created and have spent years ignoring.
Youre stuck in a loop saying this, denying things you didnt say, denying things you did say and saying “I didnt say that” about sentences that have nothing to do with you saying anything at all!
Your trolling is now totally out of control and only the most mentally deficient car brain donor would even lower themselves to respond to you.
And Ill take your response, if there is one, as confirmation that saying “no you” and “I didnt say that” are your Tourette’s manifesting from here on.
Well duh. Thats because you have no interest in anything but arguing stupid non-points and ignoring the actual point.
You have nothing constructive to say. You just dont like it when people talk to you like you talk to people. All you say is boring BS.
The loneliest creature on earth is a whale that sings at the wrong frequency for his species.
He’s been singing for two decades, and still hasn’t received an answer.
CCP Rattati made himself a target, just as CCP Fozzie did back in the day.
You think Rattati is special? He is the spokesperson for some very unpopular changes, just as Fozzie was back in the day. That alone makes him a target for peoples frustrations and I believe he is quite capable of dealing with it or he wouldn’t have put himself in that position.
Not sure how long you’ve been around the game but what is happening to Rattati isn’t new, nor is it personal. It is all part of the job.
Not a good part but it is what it is.
What exactly is a solid arguement?
Those who protested (it wasn’t a “strike”) did so because it was an avenue to be heard. In this case the “solid arguement” was, they weren’t happy with proposed changes to their game play.
Who are you to say their grievances weren’t valid?
Agreed. She’s just another of the judgemental, biased CCP apologists who lash out at anyone who dares to disagree with their narrative about how the game should be played or developed.
I guess it’s actually not surprising that a guy who joined EVE in 2015 wouldn’t even get what “bitter vet” is all about. Ah well give him 10 more years, he’ll find out.
