That is a constant point of misunderstanding. Nobody is trying to “force” anyone. It is about wanting a game design that is rewarding those who dare, big time. Thats a huge difference.
Nobody wants to “ruin Highsec”. We already agreed CCP/FC wouldn’t reasonably do these changes because the uproar would be too bad.
I for myself can’t care less about HS. I just look at it from a balancing point of view and see that it’s way too easy for its efficiency or the other way round, way too well-paying for the effort and risk you have to put into the activities there. And that opinion is not “hateful” or traying to “take away” anything from the highsec dwellers. It’s just a statement that simply is true based on numbers.
There’s so many things FC should do, but they won’t. I wouldn’t have any problems with changes to high-sec - with the caveat that the null alliances get their paws out of the high-sec cookie jar.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the September 2025 Bastion change in the context of high-sec ganks.
Even if normal active-booster Marauders kept roughly the same sustained rep per second, ganks are burst damage. A smaller individual shield boost can still matter during a short Catalyst/Talos/Nado/Purifier kill window.
So the change may be close to neutral for long PvE fights, but it is not automatically neutral for gank survival.
Facts based on some company PR Reps saying it’s true without any neutral 3rd party verification to back them up…
And if it actually is true, then there would be no need to implement the new Exordium Region as a no PvP ‘Safe Space’.. Common sense should tell you the real reason why they’re implementing it like that…
Lastly I don’t care who says it, I’m not buying the statement that it’s due to new players hearing wild stories of ganks happening which is making them quit…
And for the last time, just another assumption based on your own opinion…
Easy to do when you rarely ever fly in High Sec… And when you do, it’s usually done with Corp mates to back you up… Also nice job podding those High Sec WarDec targets caught in Shuttles and Corvettes…
Look, just because you mostly gang bang w-holes with Corp mates doesn’t mean you’re not one, especially with that -0.94 security status…
Right, like how Zkillboard stats can’t be manipulated to produce a better score with no NPC kill mails showing up… Todd Terry | Character | zKillboard
Also you can’t verify the MER numbers aren’t being set up to match those stats…
Anyway, it doesn’t matter… My point still stands, if new player ganking isn’t an issue, then there’s no reason to implement Exordium Region as a no PvP ‘Safe Space’.. CCP/FC’s reason for doing that is definitely hard to believe…
Sure it does, a ‘ganker’ is someone who regulary attacks othe players in HighSec. I don’t do that and never even have done that. But as usual you don’t know what you are talking about.
Fun fact: I probably killed more than 100 HS gankers during their attacks in HS to mess up their ambushes. So if anything I have done more against ganking than to support it.
What? None of my corps ever do Ops in HS so whenever I fly there it’s to bring in new ships or to bring out loot. Solo.
I havent shot at a ‘wardec target’ since my Charcter exist…
Lowsec exist, you fool. Jeez get good at anything please. Every single statement of you is just plain wrong.
Dude, I just checked your Zkillboard record so please get better with your BS replies… It clearly shows you doing kills in high Sec space with other Corp mates… And if those weren’t WarDec targets, well… Anyway, I don’t care one way or another if you do or don’t…
What I do care about is people constantly promoting CCP/FC’s farce that new player ganking rarely ever happens, especially since they’re now implementing a no PvP ‘Safe Space’ for new players…
Discussing the risks and safety of ganking is a bit like discussing why a grandmother driving to the grocery store is less likely to be involved in a fatal accident than a young guy in a sports car who’s already late for work. The difference often isn’t the vehicle — it’s the attitude and the level of risk people are willing to take.
You know what? I just remembered an even better example of who’s most likely to end up in a fatal accident. Take a look at the riders in the Isle of Man TT. What they do is almost beyond belief.
Well well… they werent Ganks for sure. Probably suspects that tried to steal from other players and hoping to get away with it. Or Gankers I killed while they tried to gank.
So much for your ability to read killboards. No wonder you believe that ganks are a problem, by your standard basically everyone is a ganker.
I see that you mainly grind loot and bounties in Level 4 missions. In that case, I’d suggest moving to a quieter area somewhere in the deeper parts of Tash-Murkon, Kador, or even Solitude.
In constellations like Barvigrard (Lanngisi) or Aulari (Osmon), you’re much more likely to get ganked on a regular basis given your playstyle. You simply can’t sit in Bastion mode for 10 minutes at a time there and expect nobody to notice. Almost everyone I know in Lanngisi is speedrunning missions or farming burners. Those missions are completed in fast ships and create only very small windows of opportunity for gankers. Even so, mission ships still get ganked there regularly. I’ve even seen burner ships get caught.
Such a simple, cheap, and boring fit, yet it still works. It’s one of the reasons CCP introduced the Exordium region in my opinion, which I personally dislike. It feels too symmetrical ugly on the map, disconnected from EVE’s traditional universe design, and more like Blizzard’s World of Warcraft approach to expansions.
Back to the fit. The gankers used 17 Coercers against that target. Because it was a Rattlesnake, they had probably cargo- and fit-scanned it days, weeks, or even months beforehand. By default, that ship had roughly 871 DPS, 222k EHP, and around 552 EHP/s passive tank. That’s already a fairly difficult gank target. However, the attackers used Conflagration crystals, which are quite popular these days. Against that damage profile, the ship’s effective buffer dropped to about 181k EHP.
This is exactly what I meant in my earlier comments: the fit has a lot of tank for PvE but relatively poor tank against gankers. That’s its hidden weakness.
So how would I improve it?
The pilot is running Caldari missions, mostly against Guristas looks like. The only PvE damage type that really matters is kinetic. Fine, keep the Pithum B-Type Kinetic Shield Amplifier. That’s already enough PvE tank for almost anything high-sec can throw at you. Now plug the EM hole properly. Replace one module with a Pithum A-Type EM Shield Amplifier. That’s probably the only expensive upgrade actually worth paying for the fit. Next, look at the rest of the fit. It’s using four Large Shield Extender IIs and three Large Core Defense Field Extender II rigs (T2 rigs!!!). That’s already moving away from a pure passive-tank philosophy. Replace one Shield Power Relay II with a Damage Control II. Bum!
Result:
235k EHP vs Conflagration damage
411 EHP/s tank
Now go one step further. Replace the remaining Shield Power Relay IIs with two Power Diagnostic System IIs. Bam!
Result:
253k EHP vs Conflagration damage
305 EHP/s tank
At that point you’re getting close to requiring roughly 25 Coercers in a 0.5 security system. A gank is still possible, but it becomes dramatically harder and far less attractive.
If you’re operating primarily in 0.8+ systems, you can even replace those Power Diagnostic Systems with Ballistic Control System IIs. You’ll still maintain a strong tank while pushing the ship to around 980 DPS, even with those cheap launchers.
