The first time I ran into Brother Jacques Quelouse, during the new epicarc, something about him tugged at an old memory.
The name, the look, the explorer vibe, flying a squid-like vessel, it all felt strangely familiar.
By the time I finished the arc, I still couldn’t shake the feeling.
I kept thinking, ‘Where have I seen this calm, scientific explorer before…?’
Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe my imagination is doing laps.
But… could Brother Jacques be a tiny, subtle nod to a certain legendary French ocean explorer from old Earth?
[Jacques Cousteau had a documentary series named “The Cousteau Odyssey”, flying an Odysseus… And his name sounds very like him…]
