Hello, it seems the biggest price factor in getting stuff moved around is the collataral. For example the going rate for 1B worth of stuff transported from Jita to Amarr is over 50M ISK. That means you need a profit margin of at least 5% to cover that.
So it seems like ganking and the lack of decent buffer on haulers is causing trade to centralize in Jita. There are other factors too, but this factor seems like one that can be alleviated with a simple HP buff. Lets discuss or not.
You should not be using tech 1 haulers to move 1B worth of assets. You use T1 haulers to move low value stuff. If you need high value stuff moved, use a different hull.
In my opinion you should be able to haul like 50B worth of stuff (In high sec) before ganking comes into question. Because for example you either spent a long time farming that 50B worth of stuff or you bought raw materials to produce it which means probably only 5B of it is it profit once its sold.
Youâre the one who wants a hauling ship to be able to withstand 25 bil worth of stuff to be able to gank your haulerâŚ(the math to make ganking 50bil âworth itâ as a minimum). Thatâs like 250 Tornados if they are 100mil/hull.
Freighters and dst already have plenty of tank. If you take a look at kill mails the ones dying arenât the ones fitting tank. Hell a lot of them reduce their own tank.
I have plenty of experience hauling. I actually agree with you, haulers should have more HP, because when in my charon, it shouldnât be viable to gank it when it is literally carrying CRAP. Actual crap, just basic â â â â â mission loot / salvage. That shouldnât be worth a gank fleets time. But because of the dps per cat ratio, itâs totally worth it for them to lose 30 cats to kill a freighter, carrying basically trash. Terrible balance.
If you donât want to rely on EHP for hauling (and the corresponding ganker-related ISK per EHP calculations), move it in a ship like a Blockade Runner that does not rely on EHP to survive.
youâre confusing the hauling charge with collateral .
50 million for 42 jumps , thatâs slightly over 1 million isk/jump . very reasonable and customary .
nothing to do with the value of the cargo or profit margin .
nothing to do with the HP of ships or ganking .
The âproblemâ in that case isnât the HP of haulers but the current misdesign of destroyers combined with the lack of active fitting options for freighters.
Given thatâs either a huge long trip, or runs the gauntlet of Abhazon, it sounds pretty cheap to me.
Low m^3, high value stuff can, and should, be hauled in near absolute safety in a blockade runner, Sunesis or a T3D.
Deep Space Transports can be fit for ludicrous buffer tank and be cloak/MWD trick piloted.
Freighters and Jump Freighters are going to want a scout/web alt when moving through hisec.
If you have a large amount of stuff, be patient and probe out wormholes in nearby systems. Youâll eventually find something that goes near your destination and cuts out a lot of tedious warping and potential danger choke points. This will mean youâre not in a huge hurry to shift your stuff.
The good folk at red frog and pushX merrily send freighters all over the place. They do an outstanding job and are very, very good at it. Iâm more than happy to stump up for their services when I have a bunch of low ISK/m^3 stuff I need moved.
90% of hauler losses can be avoided simply by scouting. In my WH corp, a near-Jita connection can have a true caravan of DSTs shuttling back and forth. Enough to roll the connection on more than one occasion.
