Bumping needs a suspect status penalty

It was our alliances home system, it was just a random dude trying to steal augmented drones

Seriously dude? Still talking?

Irritating. But at least they were just trying to steal them. They could probably shoot them instead, and quicker than Concord could respond? Not sure if they would get a killboard entry for that, but isk loss to you would certainly hurt. Against that option for them, bumping is more an inconvenience for you? Again, you don’t have to like it, but alternatives could be worse.

In which case, why not have catalyst (or whatever) kamikaze in place and just frag him next time?

EDIT: this after all seems to be the modus operandi of EvE (CCP); promote conflict, not resolution.

I tried to cata him, but he was way too fast for my cata be able to stick to him long enough to destroy him

From another post about bumping

If you have multiple ships, have them duel and web each other to slow them down and mitigate the bumping force.

You can also increase your ship’s mass to reduce the impulse of the bump. Use the same techniques as wormhole rolling: fit a Higgs Anchor rig, and have a propulsion module (enduring afterburner) active to massively increase your ship’s mass.

Well done that man/ woman. Might be worth asking around what the options are? Don’t ask me (!!) but what you need is some sort of one-shot options, which is not too expensive to buy and fit?

Thanks for the first proper comment. You didn’t write that did you?

That’s interesting. If he is in a multi-box fleet, can he not web himself anyway? Or is webbing always seen as an aggression, regardless?

As a bumper I’d love to turn suspect, so I can bait you.

I mean sure, thats a proper game mechanic to get suspect and bait.

So by the time you noticed them, it sounds like they were already at max speed heading for your ship. The best prevention against bumpers (even in an Orca) is to orbit your roid - it’s a big challenge for me to change my direction when I’m going 7km/s.

The process for bumping permitless miners involves entering the belt, flying out 30-60km or so, and then turning around to bump you. That’s plenty of time for an Orca to get moving, either orbiting or just plain moving in any direction and avoiding the bump.

Good tip thanks. This guy bumped me like 300-400 km away from the field

Also if you’re mining with illegal augmented mining drones or harvesters - don’t. You’re making yourself a target.

How far would they need to get you from your drones before they go dead-in-the-water? (Just asking for a friend.)

To be honest I don’t know I had my drones on return the whole time so they didn’t disconnect I was able to keep my drones thanks to my alliance members, but still this mechanic in my opinion needs tweaks

What you mean illegal?

Role play. Higher level drones are examples of miner greed. Which needs to be curtailed at every opportunity eg by bumping.

EDIT: such drones being frowned upon even with a mining “permit”

I think it’s over 10,000km - if they don’t warp out first. I’ve gotten my victims out 3000km before and the drones stayed connected. But they always give up and try to warp back to the belt. Sometimes their friends come to fight me and get Concorded. It’s my favorite part.

Praise Aiko!

bumping has been tweaked… adding the ability to warp after 3 minutes… leave it alone.
