Bumping ships with highspeed

Well, deploy your Tear Collection Array II were the sun never shines :joy:

On a more serious note:

If the Bumper takes way more damage than the bumped ship, then I wouldnt mind, especially when you count in the mass difference.

Thats more like the way it should go - if we dont agree on damage, then the bumper should just bounce back.

Which brings me to another idea:
Anchoring option for a ship in space. Sometimes you really like to stay at this exact position in space, exactly aligned to a target, w/o anyone being able to bump you off or turn you away from your alignment.
Just anchor the ship… maybe with anchor/unanchor time and you are immune to bumps. No bastion or siege module needed and no advantage gained, except the stationary position. Just an OPTION

Also, if you do that close to your own/alliance Citadel for defensive purpose (like a stationary sentry tower), you might get a bonus/benefit from the citadel.

And suddenly we’ll see orcas anchored in space, 8km from the gate in proper formation, preventing autopiloting ships from reaching it. Yeah, that’s a great idea.

What are you anchoring to, in space…?

When discussing bumping mass is not the only thing that matters, velocity is also a key component of any calculations that must be done when dealing with damage to both parties.

When a Fleet Stabber fitted with a BS sized MWD, massing nearly 160,000 tonnes, moving at nearly 5000m/s (mach 13) hits your ship, what do you think is going to happen to you and your ship if damage is caused?
