How strange it is that when the Federation deploys its armed forces to the borders of the State that nothing is said for over a month, but when the State deploys its own armed forces within its borders in response suddenly it is “belligerent” and “risking armed conflict”.
It’s this kind of wilful hypocrisy on the part of Gallentean bootlickers that makes me certain consumers of Federal media will swallow and regurgitate any propaganda that portrays their actions as the “good guys” and not the provocateurs in the first instance both in the case of hostile espionage in the case of the en Villari affair and then sabre rattling their armed forces on the border of the State.
Forgive me for stating the obvious but turning a diplomat over to interrogation by a body not known for its transparency is unwise to say the least.
I assume the trial you refer to is to ascertain treason against the Federation. The hesitancy to strip Leopold of his immunity is troubling. What does he know? Why did he flee the Core?
I doubt common cause will be found here, but we each seek answers, and this is the place to ask questions.
The Federation Government does not restrict the movement of it’s own people without exceptional cause, and there was no reason to suspect Mssr. en VIllari of any wrongdoing at the time. There is also no definitive proof that Mssr. en Villari is involved in any criminal activity beyond a supposed meeting with the former Commander Hakusozu, the footage of which has not been verified by independent investigators. Whilst absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, I would be hesitant to condemn the man on the basis of allegations which have not been proven. As for mounting an expedition into the territory of a constituent Tribe of our closest ally (Thukker Tribe, Minmatar Republic), this would require co-operation with the relevant authorities there rather than damage our relations with them by acting unilaterally in searching for our missing man. Assuming of course, that he is actually in the Great Wildlands.
Quite frankly I wouldn’t trust the State criminal justice system (irrespective of Megacorporate or Tribunal) to give Mssr. en Villari a fair and unbiased trial, based on the evidence supplied so far. The prevailing attitude within the State is that he is guilty without that guilt being determined from a presentation of the facts (that we know of) and examined by investigators or his defence council. The possibility of torture being used as a method in your proposed ‘interrogation’ and possible execution of a Federal citizen following sentencing would also preclude any extradition to the Caldari State. If our Attaché is guilty of wrongdoing, he will be tried in a Federal court, overseen by his peers, subject to Federal law.
Considering the context of the speech that was delivered by your Chairman evoking the Interstellar War, in particular the Hueromont Incident, and stirring nationalist emotion, followed by a mobilisation of the Caldari Navy, that doesn’t send a message that is perceived as anything but what it is - a mobilisation. It was only a decade ago that an armada crossed the border into Essence and annexed Caldari/Cephalin in an unannounced and deliberate attack. Considering the ramifications of that invasion that still affect us to this day, we will not be caught off-guard a second time.
The way you word this implies there has been no effort to even begin such work at all, merely proving that the Federation’s supporters, you included, would rather point fingers and heighten military stature against the Caldari people rather than locate and re-acquire the man responsible for this rapid deterioration of relations in the first place. The silence and inaction of the Federation on all fronts except against the Caldari State itself is both deafening and disturbing.
Only someone guilty would abandon their Senatorial duties and disappear into a null security region as rural as the Great Wildlands. Truly anyone defending his innocence is merely playing devil’s advocate as even your own government which he works for seems unable to recall him or even communicate with him.
You already have, by one of “your” own no less and your government has reacted as weakly to it as the initial liberation of Caldari Prime. Where is your skepticism of the Federation? A democracy is only as truthful as it is forced to be by its masses after all. I have seen no demands for answers or solutions beyond mobilization of your military and playful mockery of the situation here on the IGS by independent capsuleers.
The restrictions on titans and other capitals in high sec only apply to independent capsuleers. All of the navies have multiple capital ships and freely deploy them wherever they wish within their own territory.
I did not suggest that. I spelled it out for you very clearly, and will do it again very curtly. The Federal Navy mobilized, so the Caldari Navy Mobilized.
They do not need to since their mission statement is clear as crystal. The Caldari Navy exists to protect our people against external threats and they will do what is necessary to do so.
No.
You believe that you are entitled to know things which I, a former CN ADC, am not entitled to know, because of emotions and wishful thinking? I hope that hostile foreign warships will give more consideration to whether or not to jump into our systems than the amount of consideration you gave to whether or not to post.
This is actually false if you pay attention to the SCOPE media release that announced the mobilization. To quote the SCOPE and @Alton_Haveri
“No direct response or comments have been made by the Gallente Federation so far; but Federation Navy and Customs Forces have been placed on heightened alert status.”
As you can read, the Gallente Government did not announce anything. There was no “Clear Parameters” nor was there any indications before the deployments occurred. Merely coverage by the SCOPE news network akin to how ASMR has covered the deployments on the Caldari side.
The good Chairman Saraki has done nothing more than remind the citizens of the Caldari State of their fundamental duty to defend the motherland in the face of foreign aggression. That in the face of Gallentean treachery and perfidy the Caldari people will face the foe united with fire in our hearts and with steel in hand, resolve unbroken ready to spill the blood required for the glory of our motherland.
It is clear the Federation thought the Caldari people weak and complacent, that we would not meet the audacity of their provocations and aggression with the firm commitment to defend our people and national interests. If necessary then there is no other option but to disabuse the Gallente of their flawed notions through the violent praxis of the Caldari soldier.
While I respect both nations’ eagerness to protect their own borders, both the Caldari State and the Gallente Federation must tread carefully, to not provoke their rivals. The EoM conspiracy of YC123 is still fresh in my mind. I can only hope that careful diplomacy will prevent tensions from rising the way they did last year.
Oh, and I think @Kyra_Andile 's request for explanation is warranted. Given the lack of explanation by Federal authorities, perhaps a similar request for explanation by Federal forces is warranted as well? While it is not our business to pry, we can request explanation from the authorities. They just don’t have to provide it.
Not just the Federation. The entire cluster has seen how much a paper tiger the State is. No point of grand speeches by the CEP if there’s no action behind it.
This sounds like Provist provocation to me. Time will tell if the State can move past its xenophobic reactionary impulses. But by the comments from those Caldari in this thread and others, I doubt it.
The Caldari State has lost battles in the past, and it will lose battles in the future. The Caldari State will endure so long as there those that even in defeat will continue to fight for our motherland with the resolution and conviction of patriots.
A resolution and conviction that turncoat kybernauts would have no notion of.
The State’s imperial ambitions like the Amarr had always been clear. This escalation is but a step to fill their thirst for extinguishing democracy. The Federation must respond in full force. Call for a general mobilization of all forces. Sanction or block Jita trade. Expel all State sympathizers out of Gallente space.
Aaaaand, the fact that people like this one occasionally find an audience is a good example of why most of the cluster views democracy with a raised eyebrow. At least monarchs and corporate or tribal councils aren’t quite so subject to public passions.
