I find this proposal, the OP(poster) rude, disgusting, and inhuman for his/her attitude and thought process throughout this Thread.
My Father’s character is interred in the in game Memorial. His Character name is on the EvE Monument in Iceland. To say I and anyone else that knew my Father in game would be upset at his name being given to someone else would be an understatement.
CCP would be best to ignore this type of request, and the OP should be really really ashamed of even thinking this, let alone attempting to argue so hard for it.
Names like superman may also have just been held to avoid players from using them at all.
To be honest though the bigger headache are corporations holding onto names forever. At least with alliances you need to keep the wallet topped off or it will disband.
There are so many names that were taken in the first few years of the game just to hold onto them.
Am I to believe your father did not have 5M SP and barely played EVE when he was alive? That he merely made a character and then abandoned it without doing anything in-game? Because if not, it would not be purged.
While I can respect a good appeal to emotion (argumentum ad passiones), you should at the least, actually understand the suggestion you are so ardently against. No, I, personally, disagree with you and the drivel and attacks on other players for disagreeing with you. Yet you still attempt to argue a moot point and attack others. Give it up. At this point, you’ve done nothing but remove any validity your “request” ever had to begin with through your reactions and inability to accept that others disagree with you. You create a post with a proposal, then get angry about the responses YOU asked for. You, sir, are the issue here.
Just because someone hasn’t logged in in nearly two decades doesn’t mean they have to lose the name of their chars, after all they paid real money for that by buying the game and then creating their chars.

I never got angry about any response. You’re angry (that’s why you’re still here venting) and projecting your anger on to me. Countering someone’s statements is not anger. Pointing out a strawman is not anger, nor is it an attack. There is a level of frustration with people repeating the same strawman arguments that have been refuted multiple times, but never anger.
You revive it and keep it going to then ask that it be closed. This is irrational behavior. You should perhaps look within to find who is really angry here.
If I have to point it out to you, you are clearly clueless. You feel the need to pick at everyone’s responses. That’s your insecurity, not mine. Enjoy being laughed at in the forums.
