You really think they can do that? They wouldnt have been kicked off discord if so.
This will have ramifications because the amount of SKP (Skillpoints) dedicated to mining will negatively impact PVP/PVE activities. You don’t want players forced to upgrade to a functional level, because they don’t want to waste their time. And vice versa…if people concentrate in PVP/PVE then mining will suffer especially on the lower end for starting players who are alpha. (Reinforcing Mining is Bad and Waste of Time.)
For the multiboxing players using numbers of barges…they are not going to see much change. For the mining laser players they are going to see alot of frustration and aggravation, and loss of options to do mining in outside of omega as well.
I understand the concept if we are using it for the bonus yields. That would make it much more interesting. And in some cases the weirdest issue is the bonuses lets say at 250% should be giving more ore…than just lets say 1 mining block = 2 bonuses. You would think after oh…such number of bonus cycles…you could be getting 3 or so. But that isn’t happening either.
So either the mining laser yield m3 is being rounded up by default once it its a threshold (1 block of whatever minable ore) is met. But we are not seeing that always exactly working out. If its below a set value way lower than the mineable ore generally greater than 8m3. (so heavy ores of 16m3 generally have this issue.) And mercoxcit at 40m3 being the worst headache.
Light Ores…0.01 to 8-10m3 seem to be okay. And you see the alternating yields as in theory it should be doing. Which then also shows the second problem where the bonus yields don’t exactly seem to mesh with the stocastic rounding system. It seems flat rounding in some situations.
Why are you talking about bonus yield?
And why would it matter for bonus yield?
When you say bonus yield do you mean crits or ship role bonuses? Because it makes sense for neither.
You talk about ‘skill points’ and ‘ramifications for PvP and PvE activities’, but fail to explain what exactly those ramifications are.
Again, what is the problem?
And why is it a problem?
I take it you mean mining crits when you say ‘bonus yield’ in this context?
The first thing I did when the mining changes were on the test server was to test how the crits would deal with bonuses worth half a block.
After all, I was curious if the levels in between 200% to 280% crit yield had any effect at all if the blocks were rounded down.
Turns out it’s very straightforward: it too rounds up or down, at random. 250% crit yield gave me double the regular yield extra, but also triple in other crits.
That is when I found out CCP introduced stochastic rounding in the patch notes. And I have no reason to believe CCP didn’t use stochastic rounding for crit yield as well, as that would be the simplest and fairest implementation and done in the same update.
250% crit yield means if you mine one block you either get two more or three more.
And if you claim ‘getting three more’ is not happening you better have extensive and reproducible test results if you wish me to believe such a claim, because frankly your tests are almost indecipherable and claims just very strange and based on way too few samples to make any claims about any statistics.
And still I wouldn’t believe you because I got the ‘three more’ myself to know what you said is nonsense.
