Dogs respond to the tone of a voice, But are able to learn up to 250 words. Cats respond a lot more to a tone of voice. A woman voice is almost always a higher pitch than a man voice. Which the cat is more likely to respond to a woman voice then to a man’s voice.
The other major difference between the two species. Is that the cat was a jonny come late to the party. Only when humanity was firmly in practicing agriculture and not moving around. Did the cats ancestors started to hang out where food was stored. As that same stored food attracted the small prey and made for easy picking. That a stone age farm offered in terms of hunting for food.
The cat is arguably the least domesticated animal. That we human to this day welcome into our homes. Unlike the distant wolf like ancestor of the dogs. That was by a quirk of evolution and biology. Made running with human preferable. The cat chose to interact with human. As we provided the prey they wanted hunt. So stayed and put up with with us human. Are affectionate towards those human they like, but always on their terms.
Also I read a while back. That if the cat were the size of the larger breeds. That the cats would kill us all.

Actually, never spoke to her, just used sounds. But my boss used to talk to her when he came over - she would have a conversation with him, nodoubt telling him all my secrets.

Yeah… Yeah… We all know your “rainbow” colors by now. 
These cats live about live about 200 miles north of me. I would like to own one, just to piss off the neighbors when it starts howling. Then when they drop in to complain about my stray cats making all that noise last night, I introduce them to Max Kar.

I admit I would have a hard time feeding a northern lynx, but there is no way I can feed a tiger. They are cute like a calico but where do I find the all the horses I need to feed it? If my neighbors started to disappear, I think the cops might make the connection.
The neighbors whined all last summer about the 8 or 9 strays I was feeding. Now I am down to 3 or 4 and they still complain. I am tempted to infest their homes with huge sewer rats at this point. Then look at them and say, Eh? Wasn’t a big rat problem with all the cats hanging out in the hood.

Apparently the sign reads “beware of cats appearing suddenly on the road” and is a warning to avoid accidents with cats. Apparently is common in places of Okinawa and Kanagawa where cats overestimate a car’s abbility to brake in time.
The fine print is a warning that the cat distribution system in the area is faulty and might suddenly release tree cats on unsuspecting cat servants.
