CCP can't into Marketing

In all seriousness. This is a text book on how to not market the game and new features. You worked on something for a while not teasing anything, not raising a hype for players to come back or at least start interesting again. Instead you do a news that there will be major update and players will find out….

CCP please hire somebody competent that will actually properly market your game.

Even a ChatGPT can prepare a quite decent marketing strategy nowadays.

I’m competent.

I guess all game developer studios suck at marketing. This isn’t an expansion, it’s just a big patch of an ongoing expansion. Even Blizzard doesn’t market game patches.

Objectively speaking and unrelated to this patch, the marketing is nonexistent.

You see advertising for eve absolutely nowhere unless you’re already playing.

Twitchers and half hearted posting on the socials is not a marketing strategy.

Might be a case of them wanting to hold off on spending money on marketing until they have something WORTH advertising.

This is not unique to EVE, the gaming websites ignores expansions if it isn’t WoW, big patches/changes or seasons.

There was a major change this year in LoL, no gaming website I know of (except those specializing for LoL and proplay) informed about it. New seasons in PoE are also not mentioned on gaming websites.

So this is normal.

I have applied actually.

You applied to be marketing human for eve?

Blizzard does market patches, just not outside the game and game-adjacent areas like Wowhead or WoW YouTubers (who are in effect marketers).

But so does CCP. Their YouTube channel regularly puts out videos about things happening in the game, both player-driven and developer content. They’ve advertised the Big 4, they’ve advertised Equinox both from a capsuleer and a baseliner perspective, Scope regularly mentions nullsec engagements, and game events like the recent Upwell Convoys and ongoing Crimson Harvest.

Not true. For example with Youtube you can tell the advert system that you are interested in games and to show you more game related stuff.
